  1. Welcome to the USMB Chris! I think the first gen Legacies were some of the best designed & built subarus. I've heard similar stories from folks that pick up a first gen Legacy for a reasonable price and then they end up sticking with Subarus. The first gen Legacy, a gateway Subaru
  2. Tom, Welcome to the USMB! I drive past Mahwah somewhat frequently when I fly into Newark and drive to PA for business. I think the GPS pronounces the name incorrectly.....but I guess that's why I remembered it
  3. Welcome to the USMB. Clutch shudder can be caused by several things including driving style. However one of the mechanical things that can cause it is a worn snout on the transmission. The throw out bearing rides on this and if it's worn or grooved it can allow the clutch to not be in the proper alignment. This kit was made to help solve the problem. http://www.pdmusa.com/
  4. Welcome to the USMB. I'm going to move this to the new gen forum to see if anyone has any feedback for you.
  5. Welcome to the USMB. I'm going to move your post to the new gen forum. I don't know if those hoses have a specific name. Maybe someone knows the part numbers and can reply.
  6. No, they are not easily interchangeable. I believe the fuel rails are different as well. You can use the newer red top injectors, but would need to swap the rails and ECU. Some of the pins are slightly different as well, so the easiest thing is to just use the injectors meant for the 90-91 auto trans legacies.
  7. I moved your post to the new gen forum. P0420 is related to the rear O2 sensor and catalyst inefficiency. These codes can sometimes pop up for random reasons. I'd recommend taking it to an auto parts store that will check/verify the code and reset the ECU. If the code comes back, your rear O2 sensor could be bad or something to do with the wiring.
  8. Welcome to the USMB! It sounds like you've done quite a bit of work on your Forester!
  9. Welcome to the USMB. Here's a thread that talks about how to share photos. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/152891-recurrent-question-how-to-share-photos-on-your-posts/
  10. Welcome to the USMB Neil. On the lift gate struts there is sometimes a little clip that goes around the metal ball that the strut connects to. If you remove that clip it typically allows you to remove the strut. I'd suggest posting in the new gem forum as there may be other outback owners that can help.
  11. Glad to hear that the new fuel pump assembly fixed the starting issues, that's good news
  12. Welcome to the USMB! I'd recommend posting in the 80's forum about the clunking noise.
  13. Welcome and glad to hear you're loving the subie!
  14. Welcome to the USMB! I think the newer Subies (2015) are a bit lighter than the previous generation. Enjoy the new subies!
  15. Welcome to the USMB and hope you enjoy the Outback!
  16. Todd, Thanks for the info. So the earlier than 00 cars didn't have the rectangular canister?
  17. Sorry, I haven't gotten any of the new stuff yet. That picture was just a picture I got from one of the guys on the Legacycentral BBS. I believe the new evap stuff in the picture was from a 02 era WRX.
  18. Everything came out of a 90 Legacy and went into my 90 Legacy and is what's in the car.
