  1. yeah, have to agree - they kind of missed the mark with the newer charger - but nailed it on the Challenger! and dont worry too much about the mopar thing - we gat all kinds around here! (including datsun & honda fans) the biggest thing is that you love Subaru's - as long as you have that, all is good.
  2. ROFLMAO - yupper, i have done that many times.... in a 73 Maverick with a 302 did it with class in a 77 Mark V with a 460 (literally watch the gas needle drop when you open the secondaries on that baby ) and, last but not least, in an EA82 Subaru!!!!! ok, maybe not last either - have done it with my EJ22 Legacy too.
  3. Driving style has a LOT to do with how long a clutch will last - and driving styles can and do vary depending on the car driven. 9 out of 10 will drive a GT more aggresively than a regular L series without even thinking about it - as in one doesnt realize they are doing it, but they are. the other half babied a clutch that was shot when we got the car for another 50,000 miles! granted, it needed a new pressure plate when he did finally cave in & get a new clutch for it, but still....
  4. um...in the words of the sticker on the back window of my truck.... "Bite Me Chevy Boy!" (girl!)
  5. Welcome to the USMB! yay - another girl! but Mopar?? I'm sorry! (just teasing - there are worse things! like honda's...)
  6. ride h e double toothpicks - I wanna drive!! (the little blue roadster that is!) pretty please???
  7. i knew i posted about the razor blades somewhere (memory is one of the first things to go they say..i think? LOL) hey Gary - unless you have a fancy paint booth chances are you are gonna get something in the paint/clear...a hair is one thing - them darn flies are something else entirely!
  8. tools - yes shop - well, sort of - cram packed garage that i cant get the complete car into... Lift - yeah, in my dreams!
  9. are you 100% sure it is an actual backfire? or could it be just exhaust pop sounding loud due to a hole in the exhaust/loose exhaust header or blown exhaust gasket??? i run a cherry bomb turbo style muffler on my Legacy and when i downshift and back off the throttle to slow down it pops pretty good - I actually like it!
  10. my vote goes to razor blade with some type of softening agent (thinner, kerosene, etc). and use the single edge blades in a holder - not utility knife type blades. the single edge blades are more flexible - less chance of scratching the glass. (seems to me i posted this somewhere else recently??) yes, it can be tedious, but should give good results. lesson learned - overspray goes where you least expect it to - right Gary???
  11. also "brokeville" up here - i cant tell you how many manufacturing plants have closed in this area, but it is a lot. :-\ still a LOT of people out of work that had 10 - 15 - even 20 yrs on the job when plants closed down.
  12. ok, then it probably is not the motor if none are working - one motor going should not affect the others. make sure there is power to the master switch assembly on drivers door (full 12 volt) if not start tracing back to find your culprit. if there is, then the switch assembly could be the problem.
  13. short of putting in a helicoil - um, no, there is no way to get it to quiet down. and for the cruise - not sure how well gluing that nipple back on will work - might work for a short time, but kind of doubt that it will hold for long - best bet would be to try to find an unbroken piece at a junkyard and just replace it. so where are these pics that were mentioned?!?!?!
  14. LOL - thanks. I kind of wish I was back out there in Washington - but would be on the west side of the state if i was. Lived out there for a couple of years a lifetime ago (Marysville area) but my ex is still out there, and that would not be a good thing... so has there been any progress in figuring this thing out??
  15. well, lets just say that is the "recommended" interval very few folks ever do them that often (myself included) but there ya go. when i got my 90 leg wagon it had blown air struts - got a set of used coilovers and slapped those on, then later swapped in some new struts as the used ones were pretty used up - that was pretty close to 50K ago - really dont plan on changing them again any time soon unless it starts showing problems like you are describing.
  16. 1st gen would be LS - NOT LSi...the "i" didnt appear until a few years later. I own a 1990 Leg LS AWD wagon and for the most part I love it - sadly, mine is the 4EAT, not a 5 spd, but i can live with it. LS had air struts - fairly easily swapped over to standard coilovers if they go bad and much, much cheaper. If it has the sun/moon roof - be aware that at the current age, it is possible it leaks - it can be fixed, fairly easily tho - just quite time consuming to do it right. (just recently did mine - nice to not have wet seats!) yup, the "good" EJ22 - non interference - will run for darn near ever with decent care. mine is at 213K right now, the other half has a '90 sedan with around 260K and still going strong. as mentioned - check for torque bind by driving in tight circles in a paved parking lot. check in both directions! might also want to take a spare fuse along and test if the FWD fuse device works if there is binding - any size will work. biggest thing with the AWD cars is making sure all tires are the same circumference. do NOT buy just two tires and slap them on, then buy 2 more later - you will fry the AWD very quickly that way. All four tires need to be done at the same time & make sure they are all within 1/4" of each other. price - a lot will depend on the area you live in. prices vary a lot from one area to another. as a reference - we bought my wagon for $200 with blown air struts and trashed exhaust - ran fine, tranny shifts smoothly. the sedan (FWD 5 spd) we got for $125 & 2 junkers (one heck of a deal! seller came & hauled off the junkers himself! lol) we live in north central Wisconsin...
  17. Welcome - good luck! just wished i had an S shaped offset the other day, tho! would have been VERY useful!
  18. i know we are all a bunch of tight fisted, penny pinchers around here, but - shocks and struts are supposed to be replaced every 50K. yeah, i know, who does that? as already mentioned, they do wear out internally - might not show any signs of leaking but they do wear out. gary, hope your new struts solve your problem - more than likely will.
  19. sheesh - i dunno about you "guys" anymore! ROFLMAO absolutely NO tape measures allowed!! we will NOT go there! btw - are you sure, Tom???? you dont know me that well! hehehehahaha Oh wait - that was in reference to ground clearance of the Subaru's, right?? ok, back on track so to speak.... got pics of Montana uploaded to my photobucket - if anyone cares to look http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v628/heartless500/car%20stuff/67%20F250/ need to get a couple more of the interior yet - took the seat cover off so the original upholstry can be seen.
  20. ROFL - um, yeah - about that Camino -vs- garage thing.... well, Montana (truck) is all cleaned up, fires right up now w/half choke, and moved to her "high visibility" spot this evening. Want to go bawl my eyes out, this is just killing me, but I dont see any other choice right now. She deserves more than i can give her...
  21. forgot to add that there is a possibility that wires going into the drivers door have been known to break over time from the opening/closing of the door - these are 20+ yr old cars.... i guess first step would be to make sure you actually have power going to the main switch....
  22. ok, young man - this isnt a contest! LOL we were just trying to help Kara get her Camino running! sheesh.... must be a guy thing...."i did better than you did" I mean, really, if you want to go there - it was MY idea of the heat gun that did the trick, right Kara??? and you know I am teasing, right?...
