Is it possible to convert an XT/6 from the single wiper system to the dual wipers from another EA82 car? I'm swapping an STi 6 speed into my XT6 and the wiper motor bracket is blocking where the clutch master cylinder should go. If it is possible, is it even worth it, or should I just cut a notch in the bracket and remove the motor when I need to add fluid?

that's my thread lol... honestly, the only thing I need to know is if the center crossmember mounts to the middle of the front and rear ones or if it's offset, then I can make a CAD file to get it custom made. If I make a CAD file I'll release it so others can make it too, since I know a few people in some facebook groups are looking for the same thing.

Posted this in the new gen forum but this might be a better place. I'm putting an sti 6 speed into my XT6 and looking for a crossmember. My car started life as an automatic so I don't have the XT6 manual crossmember and finding one is gonna be impossible, and don't have a welder so would rather not go custom. Is there any EJ (or other) crossmember that will work? Here are the measurements (all from the centers of the bolts) Green line: 20 and 5/8 inches Red line: 2 and 3/8 inches Blue line: 13 and 1/2 inches

Just found out that they aren't the same for all EJs, so here are the dimensions that I'm trying to match: Green line: 20 and 5/8 inches Red line: 2 and 3/8 inches Blue line: 13 and 1/2 inches (all measurements are between the centers of bolts) Does anyone know if there are any crossmembers that an EJ center (these are all the same, right???) can mount to that match these dimensions? Front and rear don't have to be from the same car.

Gas pedal question
linkthehero1234 replied to linkthehero1234's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sorry for the late reply, I'm putting an STi 6 speed into the car (which was originally automatic) and converting to a hydraulic clutch, so I need to change the pedals so they can work with the hydraulic clutch and move the throttle cable (if necessary, I might be able to go without moving it) so it doesn't interfere with where the clutch master cylinder mounts to the pedal box -
Basically the title, will spec b rear axles work in an XT6? I assume they're the wrong length, so would the inner joints swap onto the XT6 axles for an R180 swap?

Is it possible to use the gas pedal from an XT6 with the brake/clutch assembly from a newer EJ car? Or, can an EJ gas pedal mount to the brake/clutch pedal assembly instead of the floor? Also, how hard is it to move the throttle cable down a few inches on the firewall on an XT6?

Would a 2004 ECU for an EZ30D car be able to run an EZ30R? I know that the R version has AVLS, but if I understand correctly, the engine will work without AVLS being wired up. I want to get it to run on a stock Subaru ECU (preferably without immobilizer, hence 2004) to get a smog check, then switch to standalone. I assume the pinouts would be different between the ECUs but I'm willing to modify the wiring for that. Is there anything else that would prevent me from doing this? (after writing this I realized that DBW could be a problem, but could the DBC metal manifold from an EZ30D fit on an R?)

Another XT6 Crossmember Question

@Crazyeightscan you measure your crossmember setup? I need to know if the front piece is symmetrical (and if so how far from the mounting holes for the center piece to the mounting holes for the front piece itself) and where the center piece mounts on the back piece. -

I know, but since they're handmade they should be able to change the dimensions to make it fit. -

XT parts might work, but they won't be much easier to find. Honestly at this point I'm considering ordering one custom, there's a company that makes custom crossmembers for EJ chassis cars... -

Just saw the edit, I don't have a welder or the welding experience to do that, but it would probably be my easiest option... -

Probably. So I guess my options are to find an XT6 crossmember or to find another front crossmember that's the same width. Do you (or anyone else) know where to find either of these? The front crossmember is about 22 inches between the outer edges of each hole for the bushings. -

No, it doesn't. The car it came from didn't have a middle piece, I think the transmission had 2 mounts (one on the front, one on the back). The rear part isn't a big problem, the crossmember I have was flat so I just drilled holes in it; the problem is the front piece because the spot where one of the holes would go is on a slope (while writing this comment I realized I may have been an idiot and had it backwards, will check later.) I know the front piece from an EJ car won't fit, but don't remember checking the width of a rear piece so I'll also check that later to see if I can use something from another car. -

Ok, that looks good but the problem is the EA82 crossmembers that I have don't have the middle piece, and it's impossible to find XT6 parts. Do any of the early EJ cars have a crossmember that's the same width as the EA82 one? -

@Crazyeightshave you had a chance to get your car on the lift to take pictures yet? -

Ah, ok. The crossmembers I have fit into the car but don't bolt to the center crossmember for an EJ. I got the transmission on ebay for the price of too much lol -

Yes, pictures of your crossmember would be helpful. I don't have pictures of my crossmember setup but I can take some tomorrow if needed. Not sure why I need a source for another transmission, but I don't have one. Would the crossmember from an EA81 chassis be different? I don't remember what car I got the crossmember from but I think it was an 84, not sure if that would be an EA81 or 82
