  1. I'm swapping an STi 6mt into my XT6 and have the center crossmember piece, but can't find the XT6 front and back pieces (my car is an automatic). Does anyone know where I can get those parts, and until then would it be a problem if I just used those from a regular EA82 chassis car and drilled holes to mount the EJ center piece?
  2. Ok, was just wondering since it would've been easier to get it all in one piece from a junkyard. Will pedals mount to the same place, or will I need to drill holes for them? I know there are some holes that aren't there on the older cars but will the brake booster mount to the same spots?
  3. Will the manual transmission crossmember from a newer car fit into an XT6? Specifically wondering about the front and back pieces.
  4. I am planning to also do an engine swap. I'm guessing swapping the tailhousing from the XT6's 4EAT to the Legacy's 5MT wouldn't work?
  5. Will the 5mt from a 93 Legacy wagon (EJ22) fit with the driveshaft from an EA82 wagon in an XT6? It looks like the wheelbases are the same, so I think it'll work but just making sure.
  6. I’ve also seen that people use CANbus emulators for these types of swaps, is it possible to DIY one for when I have to get a smog check then switch to a standalone? Or will I have to buy a prebuilt emulator?
  7. I would use a standalone but I live in California so I would need to use the stock ECU at least for smog checks
  8. Another thing I thought of: Will OBD2 work if I have just the ECU, not the other stuff?
  9. Basically my questions are: 1. Where does that wire go 2. Does it go to a connector or will I have to cut it 3. Is it connected to anything that’s required for the engine and diagnostic system to work (other than the OBD2 port which I can figure out)
  10. Getting an engine and wiring harness out of a Tribeca for my XT6, the engine harness goes to the interior and splits, one section to the ECU and the other going up somewhere. Where does this go, does it connect to the rest of the car and if so can I just cut it? I’m guessing something that it goes to is the OBD2 connector, is there some alternative to taking the whole harness? I’m trying to remove everything from the harness that isn’t connected to the engine/ECU.
  11. To my knowledge the only difference is the JDM version has some vacuum lines that the USDM version doesn’t. I don’t think the car will be exempt from smog unless the law changes, currently 1975 and older is exempt.
  12. You can change the engine to a different one as long as its newer and the same vehicle class, you have to go to a referee the first time then you can do normal smog checks. My main question is if the JDM engine counts as certified for the other 49 states.
  13. First, sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I figure since it's mostly about the engine it goes here. I found a good deal on a JDM EZ30 and 6MT that I want to put into my XT6 (no problem with engine being newer). My question is, if I just put in a USDM ECU (or even the JDM one) will it pass California smog, or will I have to do other mods? I've read that if the JDM engine is the same as the USDM one it's fine, but it's not the same as the one in the car right now (ER27). Also, the car is currently registered in California but was originally sold in Washington, if this information is relevant. (I'm assuming they don't care about the transmission 😂)
  14. Ok, I'll return it to pick n pull and use the store credit. Can I use the clutch pedal from an XT in an XT6?
  15. I have a mostly intact steering column clamshell from a 1986 XT 4 cylinder and one for an XT6 with the right side of the top piece broken. Is it possible to have these scanned so I can have the full part with the gap for the windshield washer stalk? Also, has anyone put 19" wheels on an XT6 (or other ea82)? Any mods required?
  16. the part finally came but because im stupid i put it in with the stub on the axle instead of the transmission so i hammered it to try and get it in, now the threads and bolt on the outer end are ruined, can i salvage the end from the old axle and get a new bolt?
  17. after 142 in the electrical section, on the foldout section for the 2.7l in section b2
  18. also want to fix the weird wiring a previous owner setup because the thermoswitch died, what does this arrow with the K mean?
  19. i have a similar set from harbor freight, ill post an update once i get a replacement pin
  20. so turns out the pin broke inside the stub (no clue how i got it out) can i just get any 6mm pin and cut it down to size?
  21. ok good news i got the screwdriver out (tried to cut it with bolt cutters and it just came right out) bad news is now my 3/16 punch is stuck where the screwdriver was 😕
  22. got a screwdriver stuck in the pin trying to push it out and a drill bit trying to push the screwdriver out, the inner part is 1/16 inch but i don't have a punch that small to push the screwdriver out
  23. i got an extra axle included in the pile of parts that came with the car and this one has good boots but doesn't have the part with the spline where it goes into the transmission, is it possible to take this off of the old axle and put it on the new one?
  24. the joint is black but the grease in it is dark green, is that what you meant?
