Well the LSD is on it's way. Can't wait to make this baby a rear wheel drive beast. -
1980 was the first year for the hatchback. Good luck with the project.

Build Thread for my 1978 Wagon...
Pooparu replied to Pooparu's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Just picked up a motor yesterday. I'm going to button it up as good as I can, then through it in the wagon for now to get it going. Then I can build the other motor that's out of it. (it has no compression on the passengers side on the motor & the carb is spitting fuel out of the top) -
It was a stock macco color. It was a close match, but not exact.

So I thought I'd start a build thread for my new wagon. So I'll start by posting some before photos. List of plans for the built for now: 1. Get the motor running much better. 2. Cut away all the rusty metal and weld in new stuff. 3. Fit up a duel exhaust. 4. Strip most of the interior and bed spray it all. 5. Fill in all the dents and smooth the rest of the car. 6. Paint is in a two tone flat black & burg 7. Tint the windows. 8. Fit some JDM fender mirrors. This build is going to be very minumal compared to the other builds I've done. I'd like to keep it simple and import rat rod style, but not gehtto. I'm sure I'll have more stuff and might change my mind about a few things as the build goes along. So here we go: Wish me luck.....:-\

Sorry to say I'm out. Can't make it to the show this year. I gots a little baby on the way and he is due just about the same time as the show. You guys have fun.

It was sold as is and it even said so on the bill of sale, but I thought I'd help the guy out under my own accord.

Nope, I never got any word on the engine. I dug the plaid too, but the upholstery shop wasn't able to get a plaid so that's what I went with.

I'm not sure if I ever posted any final photos of the brat yet so here they are:

I don't think anyone's going to get out of control

the targa stripes.

oooooh, I didn't know you were still making these. I'll take one for my 1986 4wd BRAT in black. If you got one. By the way the last one I got from you worked out great and looks good in my hatch. thanks, earl

A customer of mine sent this to me after he was finished restoring it. Thoughts?
-
Man, I wish I could go. I got a full plate this weekend, and I still have to put another transmission in the BRAT.
-
I'm finally getting the ball rolling on these shirts. I hope to have them finished by memorial day weekend for the local BRAT show. I'll let everyone know when I'm going to start taking orders for the shirts.

crap, let me try and upload it again.

Has anyone seen this yet. I think it's super cool. It's small, It's 4wd and it's lifted. Anyone else like or dislike this car? http://www.insideline.com/mini/countryman/2011-mini-cooper-countryman-first-look.html

I was using 2002 WRX struts & 1992 Legacy struts. The stock springs were way too wide. I think Jibbs had the same problem on his BRAT.

Those look like super good kits, but they are super pricey.

I did the swap in my hatch. I'm in the process right now of installing an ej awd transmission. As far as the axles go, with all of the research that I've found you're going to have to make some axles & a drive line. I'm having Bill make mine, then I'll take them down to portland drive line and have them all balanced. I used 99% Legacy/Impreza stuff for my swap. The only XT6 thing that I used was the rear hub. I also used WRX brakes and FK coil over struts with EA81 top hats (you can't use the EJ strut stuff 'cause the strut tower is too narrow). I used the EA81 control arms and just reamed out the holes to fit the EJ ball joint. Have fun and let me know if you have any questions.
