  1. This is one of the lamest post ever :-\
  2. I know a ton about 944's I've owned 3 and currently own a 951 (944 Turbo). The turbo's are the best bang for the buck as far as fast goes. The only main problem is the water pump. Make sure it's had an updated water pump installed. Other then that all of my 944's have been very solid. The only time I ever HAD to replace anything was the water pump. You can find tons of parts for them. There are about a dozen after market companies that make every last nut and bolt for the car and you can also find the parts at the dealer too. Shop around and use ebay/craigslist. Here it is before and after I did the paint and body work.
  3. Here are some photos of the heater control valve out of my 1981 BRAT. It doesn't match up to the 1st generation subaru heater control valve. The one I got only has 2 hose fittings, not 4 like this one. Can anyone tell me what style this is or if it's only made for this one year? thanks, earl
  4. New bumper installed. Oh, is there anything nicer then a new chrome bumper:slobber:
  5. New rear bumper just got here tonight. I can't wait to install it.
  6. oooooo, that is a tempting offer:rolleyes:. I'd really hate to drive all that way with no heat though.
  7. Okay, so fixing the heater isn't as easy as just replacing the heater control valve like I thought. I do need to replace it, but it isn't the same unit as the ones found in gen 1 subarus. It has four prongs coming off of it, not 2. Also getting it out without removing the entire heating unit is impossible:-\. So I'm going to have to remove the entire heating unit and I might as well replace the heater core while I'm in there. Anyone know if the heater control valve is unique to the 1981 BRAT or did they put in a gen 2 style valve?
  8. I've got a blue headliner that I'm going to be selling soon.
  9. I would prefer that it go to someone who would care for it, and I would really love for it to go to someone on the board here. I'm just hoping to make my money back at this point though.
  10. I'm sure there is a way to install a lsd in the front part of the diff on an EJ transmission, right? Do I have to use a vlsd or can I use a clutch pack type? Also how the heck do you do it? Thanks in advance the Subaru gods that answer this one.
  11. I too put a 5 lug conversion on my 82 hatch (same set-up at your brumby/brat). check the link yo: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=98829&page=9
  12. A little of both. I couldn't find original Subaru seat belts for the back so I found some new ones for a sand rail and printed out some Subaru decals to stick on the unlatch tab. I completely disassemble the jump seat stuff and used a plastic bonding trim paint on all the plastic and rubber parts and hammer finish Rustoleum on all of the metal parts (after completely removing all the paint). That's about the jist of how I did just about everything on this project. Tons & Tons of labor and a few bucks too. Soon it will be for sale on ebay though. I've desided that I have some more projects to finish up and not enough space to keep this one. Also it's hard for me to hang on to a car unless it's a project:)
  13. Update: Got the back end just about finished. I'm just waiting on my new rear bumper.
  14. here's the video of the hatch with tracks: http://www.sunvideos.net/videos.aspx/video~subaru_with_snow_tracks/Subaru_With_Snow_Tracks/Cool_videos/
  15. It's been awhile since my last update on this ride. It's been on the back burner for now until I get my 1981 BRAT finished, but soon I'll be on this project again. As it sits now: I've got the P/S in, WRX brakes, FK coil over suspension in and it's currently running in rear wheel drive. Soon I'll have the AWD transmission in and start building the axles and drive line. After that's all working and sorted I'm going to try and switch everything over to 4.44 gears and install a built EJ25 n/a block. I'm hoping to get the hatch to go 0-60 in the 5 sec. rang if I can.:-\ Veva la Subaru!!!!
  16. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/80830383/ This is very cool. I want to drive this one really bad.
  17. Wait til you see the finished product then you'll really want to break out the lotion and paper towels.
  18. I've never done it on the gen 1 models, but on the gen 2. I'm not sure if they are the same, but here's a link to a thread that talks about how to do it: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=104791
  19. For some reason I tend to loose interest in a vehicle if it's not a constant project. So when my projects are complete I usually like to move on. We'll see though. I let everyone know when and if I put it up on ebay.
  20. Yep, you just crank down the torsion bars. You know what would help beef up that EA71....? These bad boys that I just got off of ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VINTAGE-RARE-SUBARU-RACING-HEADS-EA63-EA71-EA81-BRAT_W0QQitemZ150390996263QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2304007d27 Weber carbs, a ground cam & some domed racing pistons. You'd be set.
  21. Here's what I got. I should have the shirts ready in a couple weeks.
