  1. Ya, I was starting to second guess rebuilding the rack. I'll probably just do new tie rods & end. That should be good. I'll also rebuild the pump and freshen up the rest of the front end.
  2. Can I put EA82 axles on my EA81 without any modifications?
  3. I mounted some reverse lights yesterday. I haven't wired them up yet, but they should be much brighter then the stock ones:)
  4. Here's where you can get the power steering rebuild stuff: Lithia Subaru of Oregon City #113. They don't sell a kit, but the parts are available individually.
  5. So while I'm waiting on parts I decided to put everything back together so I didn't forget how it went. Here's everything painted, cleaned and put back together:
  6. I've got all the hardware painted now. I just need to wait for the new parts to arrive. Tie rods & tie rod ends & rebuild kits.
  7. I sure that some of you are familiar with my Project EJ22 Hatch (if not follow the link below to my car domain page). Well with the weather starting to improve I've set some goals on my Hatch. 1. Add power steering 2. Add reverse lights 3. Clean up some wiring 4. Get my intake relocated So the first thing I'm going to do is add the power steering. While I'm at it I'm going to replace most of the suspension components too. I pull a cross member & rack from a 1983 wagon at the junkyard. The car had a ton of miles on it and the rack & cross member were covered with 26 years of oil and dirt. I'm going to pull it apart, clean, repaint and rebuild everything. Here are some images of the begining process. I'm using Krylon Silver Hammer paint. Right now I'm waiting on the parts to rebuild the pump and rack. I'll post more photos when it's all back together.
  8. I'm going too. Being self employed means I don't need to ask for time off. I like the show later in the summer. It gives me time to get the projects finished on my Subaru before the show. I still have to add power steering, clean up wiring, get my intake made and change out some wheel bearings. It's going to be a busy summer. WCSS RULES!!!
  9. The head gasket issues were only on the DOHC phase 1 EJ25 motors. (1996-1999) You'll be fine with the SOHC phase 2 EJ25 motors. The H6 outbacks never came with a manual transmission. I know for me it was hard to find an outback with a manual transmission, but it was worth it. I looked at 30 or so and only found 2. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.
  10. I check this thread everyday for update. This is the best project ever. Way to go and keep up the good work on the car. I can't wait to see the end result.
  11. I wish they had a video of it driving. I'd love to see how fast it is.
  12. I did a set of these decals for a rear end that was converted to 4.111 gears. I totally recreated the decal into a vector format so that I could change the gear ratio. I just printed them on clear and polished the cover.
  13. Wish I could have made it. I've got a really bad wheel bearing I need to change before I do anymore rally cross. I hope to have it fixed by the next one.
  14. Thanks for the order. We'll get those shipped out on Monday. Please email me photos after you install them I'd love to see how they turn out. -earl
  15. They are finished. Fallow the link to order: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=97530

  17. Take and put your legacy motor in your BRAT and you'll get better gas mileage and more power. My hatchback gets great gas mileage with an EJ22 in it and I don't have any problems with hills. I love the styling of the old school Subaru, but also love the driveability of a new school Subaru. That's why I built my hatchback.
  18. Ya, I can make them in any available vinyl color (lots to choose from). I got super busy last we so I'll try and get these scanned in this week and up for sale. thanks, earl
  19. Ya, I'm not saying it's not doable. It's just not the best or the nicest drive.
