  1. Update: Well the weathers been very poopy around here so I haven’t been able to get much done on the hatch. Over the last week I’ve tried to find a way to mount my front bumper, but haven’t figured that out yet. I also started to run my speaker wirers from the rear to the front so I can but all of my interior back together, but my rear panels will not fit back on with the speakers I’ve installed so I’ll need to re-think my speaker mounting. I’m also working on relocating my intake to sit where the spare tire was. I should get some time this weekend to get the speakers installed and most of my interior put back together. I’ll get some more photos as soon as I do that.
  2. I'm sure I'll figure something out.
  3. Check this project out that we just did. I recreated a plaid pattern that match the interior and had it printed on PSV then stuck it on the roof of this GTI.
  4. Update: I’ve got the VR6 roof antenna installed, Rear wiper painted and installed and the center console piece in place.
  5. I finally got mine running if you want to stop by and see it.
  6. Update: Well I’ve got a few more things out of the way. Let’s see I installed an over flow tank for the radiator & relocated my battery to the rear of the car with a super sweet battery kill switch. I did also manage to paint my wipers but have yet to install them. I was able to take this thing for its first ride today (It was really fun). I cruised over to matt’s house to see if we could get the thing out of 4WD. It’s been stick in there ever since the linkage was installed. It came out of a running and working 1987 GL wagon and it never had a problem with the 4WD before so I’m not really sure what’s going on. We’ve tried everything and can’t get it out so I think I’m going to have to pull the transmission out and mess around with it then to see if I can’t get it out, but if I can’t then I guess I’ll be in the market for a new 5 speed Duel range. I might wait until it warms up a bit more to do that. I think the next thing I should do is to install my VR6 roof antenna ‘cause I’ll have to pull the head liner out for that, but when I’m finished I can start to put my interior back together and clean it up a bit.
  7. Ya, I got a chance to talk to him a few times at a couple of the WCSS's. Super nice guy and always willing to talk Subaru with anyone (never talked down to people that didn't know as much as him about cars). I thought the tribute to him at the last WCSS was great. It sounded like he had a lot of friends. Anyways I know that there have been a few people on the board here over the years that have tried to concoct an intake manifold to do a duel weber setup, but I've never heard of anyone successfully finishing one. Here's one I remember seeing: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=64842&highlight=duel+carb It seems like it's a bigger pain in the rear to build a dual weber setup than it's worth. I wouldn't think that the power gain would be that great. It seems like the greatest reward would just be that fact that you were able to do it. At least that's what I think. If it's power you're looking for just EJ it and call it good...
  8. This is the only one I've ever seen in person, but I know that the set-up came from Australia.
  9. HEADGASKETS!!! It's much, much, much easier to do this once the motor is out and that way you don't have to worry about them for a really long time. You really don't want to have to pull the motor out again for a while. At least that was my train of thought.
  10. We'll see this weekend...
  11. Update: Well thanks to Matt again for getting this damn thing running. We couldn’t figure out why clipping out some plugs that didn’t go to anything would cause the ignition to lose power, but being the super geniuses that he is he figured out a way around it. So since my last update I’ve been able to get my tachometer working, rear bumper put on, rear license plate put on, further cleaned up some wires under the hood and started planning my battery relocate project. I’ve got everything I need with the exception of the kill switch. As far as the wiring goes I just need to get my temp gauge, oil pressure, and headlights working then I should be all finished with the wiring. That’s if you don’t count the stereo and fog lights. So in the next couple of weeks I hope to have finished: battery relocation, over flow tank for radiator, drive around the block, get the transmission out of 4WD, change oil and whatever other small projects I come across. Here are some photos of the car as it sits now.
  12. you should be able to use an XT6 clutch set up. That's what I used on my EJ swap.
  13. JUST ADDED TO OUR STORE: Gen 1 Subaru BRAT tailgate emblem decal Gen 1 Subaru BRAT 4wd tailgate emblem decal
  14. oops, I mean the carb. not coin. Yes the door chime still works. I'll put some more photos up tonight.
  15. Thanks, I think I've learned my lesson.:-\
  16. New decals up on the site: Subaru 360 script & Devil Graphic Coming soon: Gen 1 BRAT text and 4 Wheel Drive text from the tailgate. Just so everyone knows you don't have to buy the decals through ebay if you don't want to. You can just pay us directly.
  17. Update: So I went a little crazy cleaning up wires and clipped a bunch out of the EA harness that I shouldn’t have. Apparently even though the connectors were not connected to anything they were somehow intertwined with one another. So right now I don’t have any power going to anything. My ignition is dead. I’ve already checked the battery and the grounds. I put straight power to the group of nine wires that I cut out near the old battery location and got power to my ignition but it caused it to be backwards. So when I went to turn the car off it activated the starter. I’m not really sure on that one, but I’m having no luck recreating that mess of wires so I’ll have to go to the junk yard and see if I can find another early 80’s Subaru with a feedback carburetor and cut that end of the harness off and try and integrate it with mine. I feel like a total dumb azz, and especially when Matt told me to just leave it alone. Arrrrg! Well my journey continues and if anyone has any other ideas on how else to fix my stupid problem please feel free to comment, except for the fact that I shouldn’t be allowed to ever touch wiring again.
  18. Wow, I thought someone would know this one right away. It is a strange box, and it wasn't mounted very well ether. As soon as I unscrewed the center screw from the little tray that sits under the glove box the thing just dropped out onto the floorboard. It was only held on by a single screw going through a thick zip tie. It was hooked up to the motor and I think the coin as well, but when I did my ej swap I got rid of all of that so the wires weren't connected to anything and they didn't run back to the main harness or fuse box so I just simply pulled it out. I'm afraid that it might be the ignition control unit, but I don't know where that is. According to my wiring diagram it has the same amount and same color wires as the diagram, but I can't imagine that Subaru would mount something this important so carelessly. I'm really racking my brain here to get this thing running again. It's killing me:mad:
  19. I pulled this and several other wires from my 1982 Subaru GL Hatch with feedback carb and now my ignition isn't working. I did an ej22 swap so I was trying to clean up some wires. Would this have anything to do with it?
