  1. Wow, I can't believe that worked. You didn’t overheat at all? I still have the cracked heads; maybe I'll give that a shot if these go bad too.
  2. He bought this off of craigs list for $750.00 and the thing runs "F"ing awesome. It has a homemade lift and Super Swampers with steel Pugs. He'll be at the subaru show this year. everyone should check it out.
  3. Where the hell do you think they are? I've seen 13b swaps in a lot of rigs but never in a subaru.
  4. I put an EA81 in my 1978 brat just fine with very little modifications. The power gain wasn't that great, but I managed to juice it up a little with a webber carb and ignition system. The main reason I did it was for the mods and a D/R 4wd transmission. It's much more capable now.
  5. I'm just trying to figure out my power/weight ratio with an ej22 motor in my hatch.
  6. Dose anyone know how much a stock 1982 Subaru GL Hatch would weigh?
  7. I'll see if I can track it down this weekend. I should have my new power steering pump by then too. I'm sure I'll have problems with that too, but we'll see maybe something will go on easy with this car.:-\
  8. Update #4: Well forgive me, it was the ATF level. I filled it before I had even started the car and the front was up on jack stands too. It took about 2 more quirts. Now that I have it running and driving I just need to find out where my coolant is leaking from. I think it's from the backside of the passenger head. Also I think the power steering pump is leaking too. Man this thing is garbage. Oh ya, the door key is broke off in the driver's side lock and I found out the hard way that the ignition key is different than the door key. I tell ya this car is dorky. Well I'll post more updates when I get some more work done. One last thing I did get a new exhaust yesterday. 2.25" pipe all the way back to a high flow cat and muffler. Alright then good night to all.
  9. I changed the filter and fluid when I did the rebuild on the motor. I just went out and check the levels and the fluid read just below low. I put about 1.5 quarts in and I'll try it out as soon as I get it unburied this afternoon.
  10. I pulled my motor and rebuilt it then put it back in and now it feels like the transmission is slipping. When I put the torque converter back in I made sure to rotate it around until it slid all the way into place then put the motor back in, then connected the flex plate. I did have some problems with the front rims rubbing on the front calipers and drove it around the block like that. Do you think this would be enough to burn out the transmission or did I not put the torque converter back in right?
  11. Update #3: Found out why the car wasn't moving good. The white spoke rims I put on were rubbing against the front calipers. So I got that fix, but now for some reason it feels like the clutch is slipping but it's an automatic. (Torque converter?) I have now experience with automatics and I don't know why it feels like it slipping. Maybe I'll put up a post and see if anyone knows why.
  12. I last radiator did fit, but I guess that there were 2 holes for the thermo switch and I just happen to find the larger one first. I think the brand was radcor.:-\
  13. I put the the converter on first to make sure it was set properly, then I put the motor back in and bolted up the flex plate. I'm going to put it up on jack stands tonight after work and see what's not moving. I'll let you know what I find.
  14. It is a 4 speed automatic. I removed the torque converter. The car doesn't roll in neutral.
  15. Worked like a charm. Thank you very much, but now I went to pull the thing out and for some reason it feels like the brakes are sticking or something. I can get it moving but it pulsates and doesn't want to move very well. Now I have to put it back up and check all the brakes and see what the problem is. If anyone else has had this happen please give me a heads up on what it could be.
  16. Update #2: So I had a timing issue that I finally worked out thanks to the Subaru brotherhood here. I couldn't get the cam timing and the ignition timing jiving together, but after following some simple directions I just got it running today. It fired up first thing. I was so excided I almost pooped my self. So I went ahead and started to put all the little stuff back on. I discovered a small coolant leak coming from the passenger rear side of the motor torts the bottom. Also the power steering rack and pump leak, but the thing is running great. I figured I would head down to the exhaust shop and get a new cat and muffler put on a plug up the hole in the drivers side exhaust port off of the head. I went to pull the thing out and for some reason it feels like the brakes are sticking or something. I can get it moving but it pulsates and doesn't want to move very well. Now I have to put it back up and check all the brakes and see what the problem is. If anyone else has had this happen please give me a heads up on what it could be. Thanks and I'll update my progress as soon as there is some more.
  17. Okay, everything bolted back up just fine so the flex plat shouldn't be an issue anymore. Thursday night after work I'll make all the adjustments and cross my fingers. :-\
  18. Is it posable to put the flex plate on wrong so the timing mark would be off?
  19. Don't the valves have to be in time with the ignition timing? I think that both the cams and the ignition are out of time and I'm trying to get everything to jive together again and I think that I'm just making a big mess of things.
  20. I know this might sound really retarded but what if I took the part holding the torque converter off (the part with the 3 lines and I'm not sure I got it back on in the same spot or dose it only go on one way? If I'm looking down in through the spark plug hole (in the #1 piston) and I see that the piston is at it's highest point (which in theory is TDC) and I check under the rubber seal on the transmission I see a series of numbers and ticks. Would this be a good indication that the plate was put back on in the right spot? If so my cams are really off and I don't think they could have moved that much between taking them on and off. Man I'm just so damn confused and frustrated. I'm almost at the point where I want to take it in and have a mechanic mess with it, but I've worked so hard on it I feel like I would be giving up and loosing. I do appreciate all of your help I just find it hard to communicate through non face to face communication. Maybe if anyone in the area is willing to come over to my house and check things out with me I could pay you or something. If there's any takers let me know. Thanks, pooparu
