I had those in my coupe before these as well (well 99 RS seats that is). While they are comfy they do not offer any adjust-ability other than forward and back and lean forward and lean back. For taller drivers its important to get lumbar support adjustment. just my 2 cents. -

Flofit seats are the easiest and most comfortable seats to mount in a EA81 if you ask me. They are a direct bolt in. All you need to do is space them up off the stock EA81 rails 1/4" so that it clears the bottom of the seat. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/pts/2185943067.html I have a pair of them in my coupe. They add about 3 inches of headroom and lots of adjust ability. Inflatable lumbar, adjustable headrest both up and forward and back, adjustable legrest as well. Very supportive and comfy on long drives. They are hard to find cheap since they were 800 dollar seats new but i got lucky and snagged a set DIRT DIRT cheap. -

They did. The RX and the turbo coupe were similar vehicles but no the same. The RX was actually faster by a long shot. 105 horse dual carb EA81 with a 4 speed dual range dif lock trans if i remember right. It was a cool setup for sure. The turbo coupes were kinda a let down to be honest. You can make them faster but stock...they were just a slightly more powerful EA81...backed by an automatic which took any and all fun out of driving it. 20 horsepower difference over the standard EA81 wasnt really too much to write home about. Doesnt mean i still wouldnt want one though. -
the factory dual carb setup was used on a different EA81/71 than what we got. They had reversed valve heads so that the middle two valves were the intake valves and the outer two were the exhaust. It also had a different cam to accomplish this. Power was somewhere in the 105 range or more depending on tune. It was designed more for high rpm breathing than the standard EA81. As for the carbs...just bolting on a set of dual carbs will get the wow factor at a show but if your looking for more seat of the pants fun and reliability id just slap a weber on and call it a day. without the heads and cam the intake is not really worth the trouble.

Looks like a nice piece from what i saw on ebay and comes with urethane bushings...not bad. I hope that picture is mirrored by accident that they have though because the hump for the exhaust is on the wrong side if its not. -

If you are going to look for more comfortable and supportive seats a set of Flofit (think recaros) bolt in without modification (minus the deletion of the spring forward gizmo on the passenger seat). Search flofit on here for a post i made with pics. Beautiful car btw. Love the color -

Take all 4 plugs out of the motor as well. I made the mistake of doing one at a time and you wont get the same reading. Do that..hook up your gauge..then try turning it over (coil unplugged!). -
ea81 Radius Rod plates? Pictures or location?

The auto transmissions in EA81s had a trans crossmember that bolted to the framerail farther back than the manual trans cars. If memory serves you can use manual radius rod plates on either a manual or auto car but not auto radius rod plates on a manual since the manual radius rod plates have the trans crossmember mount built in. -

They are on either side of the transmission. The radius rods bolt to them (the long rods that are bolted to the lower control arms). They bolt onto the frame rails using 19mm bolts if i remember right (could be 17mm). If this is a standard transmission car then the transmission crossmember bolts directly to these plates as well. You really cant miss them once you crawl under and look in the location i just said. Hope this helps. -

Someone most likely painted them at one point. As far as i kno all subaru valve covers from that era are supposed to be blue like the air cleaner. -

Or mine. We both run the same PCV setup. All you need to do is follow the factory setup. -
Yup aftermarket sucks for axles unfortunately. You should try anderson auto in waterbury Pete. Ask for Jason. They rebuilt both of my axles on the subaru with EMPI parts and gave them a lifetime free rebuild guarantee. 2 years now and not one problem. The two problems with them are 1) you have to provide an axle 2) they are not cheap (as expensive as new pretty much). But the way i look at it..i dont have to spend money on an axle ever again so thats worth it to me.

yes disconnecting the parking brake will do nothing to the braking system of the car. If you do so however just try not to park on a hill. I parked on a hill once and left it in first and i slowely saw my car moving backwards. Got to it soon enough though -
Just looked at the pictures of your car. Its def 393 astral gold metallic which is a 83 only color as far as i kno. I should know..ive had two in that color and both 83s lol.

Clevite makes good bearings. I have them in my small block chevy lol. In fact they are really the only bearing that my machine shop uses. -

Actually 83+ got the bigger valve heads regardless of solid or hydro lifters. -
+1....or intake gaskets for that matter. Both are to be treated with the same amount of prep and care installing and you shouldnt have a problem.

Headgaskets are more of a EA82 thing. EA81s weaknesses are really only intake gaskets sometimes and the normal things that wear on any engine. Otherwise they are pretty bulletproof. Check the oil pressure on hot idle. If its anything less than 25 than its probably time for a new pump. -
If they are A sized pistons would they have been stamped or did they only stamp B size pistons? Reason i ask is the pistons i want are not stamped on the right side.

You mean EA81 RX. Those carbs are different from the single carb EA81s in that they are mechanical linkage carbs and probably jetted differently as well. Other than that a standard rebuild kit for a hitachi "should" be all that is needed to replace those leaking gaskets. Sounds like a fun motor. Im jealous of you guys over there. Those engines are impossible to find in the states.

Id say your lucky if your clock is the only thing wrong with your digidash. Ive only heard of one or two other digi dash's that actually still work.

Yea thats what i found on my EA81 pistons. They were all B sized. But i guess the EA82 pistons are not marked the same. They have an arrow pointing towards the front of the motor, the word up at the top of the piston and a R (maybe for the right side). This is just the info i was given from the seller. Im not sure what to make of it cause i was told previously that they should be marked A or B as well.
