  1. Here it is mounted with its good wheels and tires. Oh and waxed and buffed. Not too bad for 28 year old paint. Enjoy. On a side note anyone have any info on the EA81 cruise controls? Mine just stopped working and i havent a clue why. Guess i got some investigating to do.
  2. If you think thats low look at the specs for a EA81 . Honestly though they are underpowered cars but with the right amount of playing around they can keep up with traffic. I agree with GD about the EA81s though. Go for one of those instead (manual tranny though!!). Much simpler motor to work on and dead balls reliable. Ive been daily driving EA81s for the past 7 years (one of the few in new england who does). Id rather drive them then newer cars just cause the price of parts is cheap and almost everything i can fix myself without bringing it to a garage and getting raped with a high repair bill. Im sure i could fix a newer gen subaru too but i just like the simplicity of the EA81. It also doesnt hurt that i get at least one thumbs up per week for driving em.
  3. I may have just found a set already out of the car. Will let you know. Thanks for post this for everyone though
  4. carefully lol. When my friend and i pulled a rear window from a rabbit we were able to reuse the gasket. We started by prying the gasket at one corner with me pushing on the window in that corner from the inside and working our way around slowely and carefully. It will pop out eventually but if the gasket is very dry its likely its not going to work. You should be able to see how dry it is just by looking at it. If its bad dont bother. I would use a putty knife or a small flat blade screwdriver but again its all in how you do it cause it could rip. Another thing..if no one is looking break the window? Not really the nicest way of doing it for the yard though.
  5. Is there any chance in hell that the windshield gasket and rear window gaskets are in good shape? Im having a devil of a time finding new and if those are still good would that be something you could get? Id pay you for your troubles obviously. Oh and drivers side window maybe. Not nearly as important as whats above though.
  6. Well got an email back from the person i asked on ebay last night. hes got a brat front window gasket on ebay but says it wont fit the coupe (kinda figured). Im going to keep looking and worst comes to worst im going to have a place glue it directly to the body.
  7. HAHAHAHA we will call that the very last straw. If i were to do that i would have to space the welds around a good amount to keep from warping the roof.
  8. I just emailed another person on ebay selling repo brat window gaskets. Maybe they can shed some light on this and help me out. Sounds like there are options out there though so that gives me hope. I was beginning to think i might have to find another car just cause of a damn leaky windshield...which would be retarded since the rest of the car is pretty minty.
  9. I had talked to a glass place that had done my camaro windshield awhile back and they said something about not being able to do it that way since there was not enough overhang of the glass on the body for it to seal or be safe enough. They said there might be an 1/8 of an inch at best and they need more than that. Not sure if that was just them saying that cause they didnt feel like custom stuff or what. Oh and John checked the computers and the dealers say they are obsolete so it must be a different windshield. Go figure i can get the glass but not the seal.
  10. Just found out that my windshield leaks like all hell and the rear window is seeping/leaking as well. I saw a thread about the rear window seals and some guy in Australia and i emailed him but have heard nothing in return so far. It seems that i might be able to get the rear window seal but what should i do if he doesnt have the front window seal. Something tells me that seal/window is coupe specific too or am i wrong and any EA81 windshield seal work?
  11. Drop that motor in the brat and come out for carlisle. Not that ill have my hipo ea81 done yet but..u should come to carlisle anyways lol. And yea this leak really blows. The carpet must have weighed 50 pounds and it was completely filled with water. I have i rung out and hanging to dry in the garage. I have siliconed the windows for now but i doubt that will help much if at all. anything is worth a shot though.
  12. Yea i gave up trying to find one of those dual carb motors. I think i can honestly get the same or more power from a worked over USDM EA81. Thanks for the pics though. So a bit of an update on the coupe....went out to it today only to find the carpet completely soaked. Windshield leaks and the rear window seeps/leaks too. Awesome. Off to locate gaskets and have a window place do it up for me.
  13. I had to pop the two pins out to remove the shifter fork when i resealed the back of my trans and i did GDs trick (even though i didnt have play to begin with). I had butchered the roll pins getting them out so there was no reusing them. Works great so far and there really is no way for it to loosen up if you do it his way.
  14. im partial to this kind of shaker. What has been done to an EA81 hood is a fox body mustang hood scoop. Jerry i believe did it to his hatch along with cragers and a hurst shifter. Idk where the picture of it is but the scoop looks like this.
  15. 99.99999999999999% going. John told me i had to so i guess i gotta . But seriously i wanna see you guys again. My buddy joe (heat) should be coming for the haul too. Not sure if we are camping or not. Probably though.
  16. Agreed ^. Opinions are like.... u can finish that one off. HTKYSA is a great book that covers more aspects of subaru repair than Haynes or Chiltons.
  17. What do you have for an exhaust? That sounds...very mean.
  18. Just an update for everyone...69 camaro window seals do fit...sorta. They dont work correctly though. The shape of the factory seal is different and makes a tight seal in the upper corner where the window seals meet. the camaro ones are shaped differently in this area and therefore do not seal properly. They do work in a pinch though. I have been using it just as a temporary seal for the past few weeks until i get the real deals. The only downside is genuine subaru window seals are friggin expensive . Just a heads up to anyone who has one of these coupes and wants new seal...gotta get subaru seals. And just so everyone knows...ive been driving it daily for the past two weeks. Runs like a clock .
  19. Im not sure but i usually get around it by searching for something else like -hose routing -vacuum -weber breather typing vacuum in got me this thread again. I kno there is probably a way around the search feature but i havent figure it out or if it was said i forgot.
  20. This should answer all questions. If not ill help out more lol. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=99600&highlight=weber+hose
  21. yup mine has that too...down farther where i didnt get the picture. Im supposed to be getting around 30mpg. Um yea right. Havent seen that yet. Then again i have a weber carb in place of the stock one barrel. That might have something to do with it.
  22. While cleaning out the glove box of my new EA81 coupe i found the window sticker! I thought it was cool. This thing was loaded and ended up selling for $8300 new in Connecticut. Heres it is. I guess the gold color was an extra cost option too at 69 dollars. Then this thing had the 199 dollar sunroof as well as just shy of 600 dollars of power options loaded on.
  23. Intake gaskets go on dry. There should be NO need for rtv or any other type of sealant. Also felpro intake gaskets are not the best. It is usually agreed upon that genuine subaru only for intake gaskets. All other gaskets are ok to use felpro. Subaru gaskets are a bit thicker than the felpro. As for running into some corrosion down low in the hole its quite possible. Do you have a tape and die set? I would run a tape down there to the bottom on all the holes to clean them out and try again. Also make sure that both matting surfaces are very clean as in NO foreign material or you will not get a good seal. Good luck.
  24. +1. Get the caliper fixed. If it is a newish caliper and its hanging up chances are they didnt put enough grease on the slide pins. Its a 15 minute job to do and you dont need to disconnect the brake line. I had just bought new front calipers from Rockauto and had a caliper hang up on me like that. Once it cooled down i pulled it apart and there was barely any grease at all on the pins. I put a good film of grease on and problem solved. As far as your cooling system is concerned..if everything is working correctly you dont need an overflow. The system will keep what coolant it needs. It does not require the coolant to be right up to the top but it will come close. How is your radiator cap? If its not holding enough pressure that could be the source of your lost coolant.
