  1. I def found my source of water getting into my coupe. The previous owner had stuffed about 7-10 dunkin donuts napkins at the front of the roof in an effort to keep the water from getting in . Gotta love POs. Anyways i can see the two drains on either side towards the front of the sunroof so im assuming they drain down the A pillars towards the cowl. Rather than hunt forever for the exit..anyone know where they exit to? I want to get at that and probably unplug a 10 year old clog
  2. thought this might help ya GD. I get HPP in the mail and they recently did a article fixing most of the problem areas of the Qjet. I found this one and the other one on the Muscle car site. http://www.highperformancepontiac.com/tech/hppp_0702_rochester_quadrajet_carburetor_tuning/index.html http://www.powerblocktv.com/magazine/?pub=735fa32c&page=18 Not sure it is of any use to you but i figured they were both good sources.
  3. Well rare isnt exactly the term i would use to describe them. On any given day you can find some for sale in the US. They are getting scarce as most were used and abused..lots on the east coast are gone because of rot. The reason they are priced at 3k where say a sedan would only bring 1 or 1.5 in the same shape is that they are somewhat of a cult thing. When u think classic subaru the first thing that pops into your head is a brat. They are damn cool i do have to say. I would love to own one but cant justify the extra money.
  4. What are the symtoms? With EA81s headgaskets are usually the last thing to think about. You sure its not the intake gaskets?
  5. Some questions that need to be asked before any real affirmative answers can be made... 1. Is this a new weber? 2. Is it already jetted for the EA82 or was it meant for some other vehicle? Do you know if the float was set right as well? Your idle mixture screw showing no real difference sounds like either the main jets are incorrect. Should also check your air correctors. Mains 140/140 air correctors 160/170 (cant remember off the top of my head whether or not the 160 is for the secondary or the primary..im thinking secondary) Primary idle jet...50,55,60. I ended up needing a 60 to get rid of the bog between the idle circuit and the primary circuit. One more thing i thought of...are u running a return fuel line like the hitachis got? The hitachi fuel fitting with the return will screw into the weber and is what most on this board do. The weber only wants 2-3.5 psi of fuel pressure so if you happen to have a strong pump you might just be drowning your motor that way.
  6. Guess i should have added after reading what John said that the main reason i go IS to see all you but i get to see most if not all of you at Connies summer bbq...dont have to drive 5 hours to do it...and from what i heard about the Carlisle staff from last year :-\ dont have to deal with that junk. Ill still probably make the drive and not sure where i was going with this post so....next post...
  7. As of now im a maybe. I didnt go last year because i A: didnt have money B: sedan was in crappy shape C: didnt have the time/energy This year i have a new job and a "new" car so there is more chance of me making it as long as a i have a copilot for that long haul. Hey connie u should get the coupe buttoned up for some coupe next to coupe pictures!! Theres the incentive right there. 4 month countdown!!
  8. GL-10 "could" have been a turbo. But GL-10 does not mean turbo. GL-10s just had a few more standard options than the GLs. "most" of the options on a GL-10 you could order on a GL except for a select few. The digi dash comes to mind.
  9. Nope sorry. The problem is that EA82 rear disks are 4 lug...hub, rotor and all. So to do it you would need new rotors and hubs. Im not sure about the backing plates and calipers but i would go out on a limb and say they are probably different as well. Could be wrong on that last part since i never took a close look at them.
  10. HAHA thats what u think. I thought it was rust free until i really looked. Its got rust..but not much. Its going to be cake to fix from my practice on the sedan. That will be done in the next few weeks.
  11. Nothing really picture worthy to speak of today but i finished the wiring in the engine bay, put the radiator back in, front sway bar in and hooked up the exhaust. Shes Alive!!! Fired up on the first turn of the key. Awesome.
  12. Well i can answer one of your questions positively. You are timing it correctly. Vacuum advance plugged as well as that vacuum line. What do you have for a carb? If you have a weber you can set the timing more around 10 or 11 and it should be fine. I have mine conservatively at 10 right now.
  13. Yea i did. I like the racks but they are a great place to store moisture and start rust. The other trunk is just barely starting to rust under wooden things. I did discover in that swap that the springs were changed out for stronger ones when they put that rack on at the factory or dealership. It adds way more weight than i thought.
  14. Thank you very much for the offer. I may just do that if i cant make this one work. I was going to swing by napa tomorrow and look through a catalog of different throttle cables and see if they can get me a new one going from the box to the carb. If not i have a relatively new hitachi cable I will be sending your way. As for today..i got more done. Im beat. I swapped rear suspensions out. It was just as well since the coupes rear shocks were blown. The main reason i did it was the sedan has an xt6 rear sway welded onto the trailing arms along with the rear disk upgrade and KYB GR2s so i figured might as well just swap it all over in one chunk. Disk rear swap out of the sedan Sedan with no rear Coupe with no rear All done with the rear of the car other than bleeding brakes and hanging exhaust
  15. Wow looks like you have a seriously nice Leone? Any other pics?
  16. Yea thats on my to do list. The rust its got is no where near as bad as the sedans was. The worst of it is in front of each rear wheel and even that is minor. Ill throw some photos of that in here or the other rust repair thread.
  17. And cruise! Im not completely sure ill be able to keep the cruise just yet since it was meant to work with the carter weber which had the throttle linkage on the drivers side and the weber has it on the passenger side. Im going to look into it more tomorrow. Power steering is nice. I got spoiled on it in the sedan and was happy i didnt have to change my lazy ways or go through the trouble of swapping that over.
  18. If you dont want to go out and buy the correct sized punch you can make your own from a crappy Philips screwdriver thats the right diameter. Just cut the top off of it. Thats what i have as a punch and works like a charm. The idea was stolen from Backwoodsboy
  19. Well some who have been following along know that i totaled my sedan (could probably be fixed but wasnt worth it to me). This is the replacement. I gave it a little intro in this thread http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=107973 Since then i have resealed my motor from the sedan and sealed the back of the transmission along with doing GDs solution for the roll pin. Here is where im at right now. Engine and tranny are in. Front suspension is in. Most of the wiring is hooked up. There is still a good amount of stuff to be done but its coming along. Here are some pics since i know starting a thread like this without pictures is a big no no on this board excuse the crappy out of focus picture. This is showing the rear of the trans without any seal and all cleaned up ready for a new seal. All done now and GDs shifter slop solution ( i didnt have any slop before but i massacred the role pin that was in there getting it out so there was no saving it. Oh and i one upped u GD...grade 8 bolt lol. Can we say overkill? Resealed motor and tranny going into the coupe Almost There we are Here it is pretty buttoned up and the way i left it for the night To be continued tomorrow.....
  20. Its most likely less that they are too artistic and more that they dont want their name and the name of the business associated with a half-done car. Ya know? Someone asks who did the priming and you say them and they will think..why didnt they finish it..im not bringing my car there. That scenario may never happen but i think thats more the reason why they dont want to do it. Not to mention why do you just want primer? Are you going to paint it yourself afterwards? If you leave it in primer it will just rust in a hurry.
  21. Wow. Sweet truck. Ive always had a soft spot for those 70s full size ford trucks. Looks like you got a real clean one. Just one question....what was with the 70s and the use of gross colors like poop brown .
