  1. Yea i meant diesel fuel my bad lol. You got what i meant though.
  2. Just me but i wouldnt mix and match O-rings like that. If its meant for AC then its not meant to withstand gasoline and will probably deteriorate quickly.
  3. HAHA offroad...neither do i. My car is only 2wd but i beat the hell out of it on the corners. I dont think the aftermarket ball joints liked that at all.
  4. My cable clutch is very easy to press compared to other EA81s ive driven. Ive heard worn out cables are usually the reason for it. My cable now has just over 100k on it so its still fairly young. I would invest in a new cable and make sure there is no binding in it before trying something like that.
  5. I would guess lower ball joint but it could be the strut assembly as well or other things (axles in rare cases, steering components). The best advice i can give is to get under there and start testing. Lower ball joints are easy to diagnose. Just put a screwdriver in between the lower control arm and the knuckle and pull it downwards. There should be barely any downward movement of the balljoint. If there is change em both out...and dont do aftermarket. I did aftermarket 3 years ago and they just now went bad again forcing me to do em again. I used subaru ones this time around.
  6. I guess that all depends on good a welder you are. Truth be told you really wont know how bad it is until you start grinding and cutting rust. The frame rails look like they are starting to get pretty rusty right where they normally go but have not reached bad yet. Those might be able to get away with grinding them down to fresh metal and painting them with a few coats of rust preventative paint then a nice even coat of undercoat. Floors and rockers you might want to find a donor. Rear wheel wells will need to make sure the shock mount is solid. It all comes down to how good you get rid of the rust and how good of a welder you are. Im not the greatest welder at all but im getting rid of the rust. Will it return...probably someday. For now though its strong again.
  7. Skimmed it and thought he was talking about the 2wd cars.
  8. There is one line that should be coming from the gas tank and going to the canister. Leave that open near the firewall. All other lines you can pull and cap off where u see fit. As already said it wont gain you anything but it does clean up the bay a bit without so many lines running all directions.
  9. This should help ya. Its for EA81s but since EA82 2wds are the same as EA81s i doubt there will be much if anything different. http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=69534
  10. What transmission do you have? Im assuming 4 speed Dual Range? If so new bushings will help but this is likely also a cause. http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=86901&highlight=shifter+slop
  11. That would be your best bet. Measure twice and cut once kinda deal. Who knows they might be the same length too but i kinda doubt it. Also if the rockers are that far gone how is the undercarriage as ^ said. If its really shot u might not want to invest in rockers.
  12. Pull the stereo out. There should be a model # on the back of it. Not sure how easy it will be to just get the faceplate and not the whole unit. You can probably get a decent aftermarket radio for the 50 dollar range used.
  13. You can pretty much use rockers from any EA81 vehicle. Hatch, Brat, coupe, sedan, and wagon. There might be different lengths though so im not sure what you are trying to do. Are u interested in replacing the entire rocker? If thats the case you would have to measure the rockers. Im not sure which ones have the same rocker lenths.
  14. 76 LT camaro? What motor does it have? Condition on both? Its really hard to tell to be honest without a better idea as to what each is. I could tell you just by knowledge that finding a decent shape camaro from that era is probably easier than finding a brat that isnt completely beat. But again it all comes down to what eash one has to offer. Just looking at the pictures i cant tell a thing other than they both "look" solid.
  15. I have a spare set of steel wheels that are low mileage and not very rusty at all. One has a bit of surface around the outer edge but all in all they are a lot better than most. i think i took them off at around 50k miles. They have been sitting in my basement ever since. Here are a few pictures. The center caps pictured im not selling however. Just keep that in mind. Just make me an offer and pay for shipping and u can have em. Not looking for anything crazy lol.
  16. Yea i would have loved it if my camaro had a drain plug on the tank. It wouldnt have cost much to do..and make the work so much easier. I had to lift about 7 gallons of gas in the tank when i dropped it to replace the pump....So to make a long story short: Subarus are super easy to work on compared to other makes.
  17. When i had a 2 barrel hitachi on my EA81 sedan i was able to get 32mpg (all highway). Once i swapped for a weber i can only manage 28 all highway. Its fine by me though since the car runs a ton smoother with it.
  18. And the EA81 was basically an updated late 60s design carried into the early 90s in some countries. "if it aint broke dont fix it" seems to apply well here.
  19. If you want a better regulator than that i have one. I dont need it since i run the return line from the hitachi.
  20. Not to take this too far off topic but here is a breakdown of the colors lol. Dodge: Sublime Plymouth/chrysler: Limelight Sassy grass green was an entirely different color. http://maxwedge.com/articles/highimpact.php
  21. That car..that color with the 4 speed would bring big bucks. Any of the high-impact colors like that go for crazy money.
  22. Welcome. The last time i saw a brat on the road was about a year ago. There is one running around my hometown in CT but it has seen way better days. I offered the guy money for it one year but he is content using it for a winter beater. Its a shame really.
  23. I know with the EA81 series that the intake and exhaust ports were reversed on the dual carb heads (intake ports in the middle next to eachother and exhaust on the outside). This also meant the cam was reversed as well. I would not be surprised at all if the EA71 dual carb motors had a similar setup. Either way the blocks will be the same.
  24. Lookin good. That is one CLEAN engine bay. As for the color, it really reminds me of a color that Chrysler used to call limelight (plymouth divisions name). It def is a standout in that color (your car and any muscle car painted it).
