  1. Well i wasnt talking about chrome or steel i was talking about these http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/wheels2/74sportmag.jpg I think they would look killer but im not trying to persuade you one way or the other. Its your car your decision as to what it rides on.
  2. I agree about the pugs. They are cool wheels but i think they are a bit too new for this ride. Find some 70s 13" mags to put on it and it would look sharp...and you wouldnt have to mess with the rear fender lips. But then again your car so of course you dont have to listen to me . Lookin good and again congrats on getting it up and running.
  3. Oh ok. Its funny the stuff that i found when i did my intake manifold gaskets on my EA81. There were leaves and SAND... Lots of sand just sitting on the top of the engine. I ended up taking the vacuum to the top of my engine. Never thought i would have to do that.
  4. Damn Daeron do u want some engine with that oil? Sorry its been a long day.
  5. My thoughts are either vacuum leaks or worn distributor.
  6. Wow its got the perfect stance now. Sweet. Love that style of pug.
  7. Need a new fuel pump as well as new fuel lines on top of that. SPFI fuel pump.
  8. Does it run fine once its warmed up? If it does then its def a choke related problem. If not i would still be leaning towards a carburator related problem.
  9. Im crossing my fingers that all goes well for you. Make sure to drain out the gas..if there is any in the tank. You may also need to rebuild the carburator.
  10. Of course there is this much interest. Its not often that people (ie. an entire community of subaru nutz) gets to rescue a rare classic from the junkyard. We are all interested and following along....well at least I am. Its a cool little car and I cant wait till you get it running again. Ive been there before. My first car was an 86 EA81 hatch that hadnt run in 3 years. New battery and an oil change later she was up and running..crappily but running
  11. That chugging is called dieseling. If its a hitachi carb it has an anti-dieseling solienoid mounted on the front of the carb. Im not sure how you would go about checking that but that is where it is located. If you hav a weber carburator on the other hand there is no anti-dieseling solenoid so it just needs to be tuned to perfection so you dont have that problem.
  12. well got the bolt fixed so the distributor is held down again. I bumped up the advance on the distributor by ear and took it for a spin. No pinging and lots more power but the hessitation is still there...but almost not noticable now.
  13. Awesome!!! Ive been following alone with this thread but just havent responded until now. Good luck .
  14. For my EA81 i just put 4 quarts even in it and it reads full on the dipstick.
  15. Something tells me im missing something here
  16. Ok breif update. I went out today and took the top of the carb off again. I set the Float EXACTLY where it is supposed to be this time since i had enough free time to wongleflute around for a bit. Then i retuned the carb and advanced the timing just a smig. Good news..the hessitation is almost completly gone. Bad news...i broke the distributor hold down bolt . So now i need to go drill and tap that hole and put another bolt in it. Yay me!!
  17. OMG i just saw one of those this past weekend. I was wondering what the hell it was. Well now i kno!
  18. Plugs only have 10,000 miles on them at most. I'll pull one and check it out though. They are NGK's.
  19. Looks like it has a clean body though. Nice score!
  20. The saga continues. I called big jim up again. He thought i should check the float level now. The float level was way off. Its a plastic float so it should be at 35mm from the top. It was too far down not giving the car enough fuel. Well i bent it as much as i could in the short time i had and threw it all back together. I think instead of 35mm its 37 or something close. I kno it should be exact but i didnt have the time. It might run a "bit" better but not much. I still dont know whats going on. Is there an easy way to check to see if my distributor advance is working correctly? That might be another cause.
  21. Im not sure thats the problem. This is a kit that was supposed to be jetted to my application (EA81). Therefore i have never regasketed the top end and have not taken the carb apart because its only been used for 5 months.
  22. If you do decide to part it out i would be interested in those wheels if the price is right.
  23. 4 quarts even should do it. Always brought it up to the fill line on my EA81.
