  1. Yea i second an air leak somewhere. If it wont idle and will run ok at higher RPMs that would be my first guess. Check the base of the carb as Tom said and also check your intake manifold gaskets in the same matter. While your at it check the throttle shaft of the carb itself. If its rebuilt they might not have replaced the bushings like they should have.
  2. Yea it took me about 10-15 minutes of turning it thinking it was in when it wasnt. All i can say is its not straight up and down. It leans a bit out towards the passenger side if that helps you any. just keep lining it up and applying pressure and it will go in eventually..and make sure your cable is lined up in the slot as well. Good luck.
  3. Hey what type of sealer should i use when installing my weber with its adaptor plate? Also im just thinking of removing the coolant hose that runs to the base of the carb and blocking the hose off instead of JB welding the hole shut. Does that sound like a good idea? I have that black permatex high temp gasket maker. Would that be good for getting a seal at the carb? Thanks for the help guys. Will be installing in about 2 weeks and will let you kno the results.
  4. It came yesterday!!!! I have to wait a couple weeks till im home to put it on. I cant wait to feel the difference it makes.
  5. and people who want to see you there Ill be willing to give you a hand once im out of school (two weeks). Not sure how much good ill be but im not completly dumb lol. Hope everything works out for you.
  6. Hunt around near the throttle linkage. It should be a screw with a spring wrapped around it. At least thats how it is on the hitachis
  7. HAHAHA true. The weber is going on in a couple of weeks. Im still in school right now. I kno what you mean about cars creaping up to 100 without you noticing..my iroc does that too.
  8. Sounds like a plan to me And dont worry about cruising speed..my EA81 doenst have a problem crusing at 70-75 all day long now...and when i do go it will be webered!!!! As for tents im a former boy scout (eagle) so i have a nice two person that me and my gf will probably be sharing. As you said when it gets closer we will arrange something and cruise down.
  9. Ok Im in the same boat your in so i think i too will be leaving friday and camping into saturday. Probably ill leave for home saturday night.
  10. So wait..i thought that everyone was heading over there friday night ..camping over then eating out saturday at a diner before the show? Is the plan now to head to Carlisle Saturday and leave on Sunday?
  11. The benifit of having no carpet is that you wont get that moldy smell and your floorboards will be able to dry out rather than stay wet and rot.
  12. Is this the Carter-weber one barrel or the weber 32/36. If its the later it doesnt use the O2 sensor so that should not be doing anything anymore.
  13. I dont think that will work. The angle of the exhaust will be off where it mounts on the tranny. You would need to either get some spacers or get another Y pipe that is made for use without those spacers.
  14. Is this the site that you can pay for for 15 bucks thats nearby or something? Im low on funds and would gladly split the site with you. My suby will be webered by then
  15. You could also get a high flow cat. I have one on my 86 camaro and it doesnt affect performance...at least noticably.
  16. Just bought one from Big Jim after two years of thinking i was fine without it. Ive had it with this hitcrappy. Weber here i come..in about a week and a half.
  17. code 567 Marina Blue. I dont have a pic but that was the color of my first car...an 86 EA81 GL hatch.
  18. Yea so am I. It still doesnt idle super great but thats carb issues and it runs well enough to get me around without any problems so im not complaining now
  19. I really did knock on wood...well the plywood plasticy desk that counts as wood for college students Nice work..hope to see rocky and bucky at Carlisle. Maybe we can all put our heads together and name my car..since it doesnt have one yet.
  20. wooohoo northeast rustout. Doesnt look all that bad considering. good luck in that road race thingy
  21. Its fixed. Turned out to be a fusable link that was making poor contact. Tightened it up and its all better now. Thanks for all the help
  22. Im game for some saturday in april. I heard BEER and FOOD and most importantly WRENCHING and was all over this. Let me know what dates work for you and ill tell you what works for me. Easter weekend is out obviously but others after that should work. I have a car show to attend at my college but its april 15th (sunday) so it shouldnt pose a problem.
  23. to add to what mike already said the two wires you will want to jump your reverse switch to are going be the smaller two wires on the inhibitor switch. Im assuming that since your car is up and running you jumped the two larger wires together. Its the other two in that same plug that you need to run your wires from the tranny to. It doesnt matter which wire is which as far as i kno...unless i just got lucky the first time. Hope this helps and is relavent for an EA82 as this is for an EA81.
  24. Well the reason im waiting until it doesnt need to pass anymore to rip the cats out is that they do a visual inspection and my car would fail before it even got tested if it didnt have the cats present.
