  1. only problem with that is when you add the shipping and handling hes back up to 160. yeah 160 sounds about right to me.
  2. I sold my first subaru (86 EA81 hatch) because of rust. I still got a 1000 bucks for it
  3. ok thanks everyone..thats what i thought. Just making sure cause if i needed one i was going to be pissed.
  4. If the EA81 2wd is the same tranny i have one with 62,000 miles on it thats yours if you pay to have it shipped. Its slow shifting when its cold but once its warm it shifts like butter. Im doing the swap to 5 speed so i wont be needing it anymore.
  5. Hey guys, My mechanic heard that i was converting from auto to manual and he suggested to my mother that i get a harmonic balancer. Do i need one for this engine? Ive never heard of a harmonic balancer on an old suby.
  6. well another time has come. Im pulling my exhaust and wish to rid my car of this ASV system. Do you guys think it will still pass emissions without it? All it seems to be doing now is craping up my carb with soot. thanks
  7. When they're applying vacuum to the EGR valve all its doing is opening up and letting exhaust gas into the engine. If it was good and they did that at idle then the engine would stumble. My bet is the EGR valve itself is shot. They applied vacuum to it and it didnt open up cause there is a hole in the diaphram.
  8. sweet that makes me look forward to getting my manual box put in. Im getting 25.5 mpg right now with the 3AT. Hoping for at least 30 with the swap.
  9. So what you guys are saying is if i pull the y pipe at the manifold i will most likely need to get the the thing re-helicoiled?
  10. ok well they were just replaced towards the end of the summer so they should still be good. Ill inspect them and reuse them if i can.
  11. ok thanks Jon. Ill probably just shell out the 13 or so bucks for new gaskets. While ive got the exhaust off the manifold im going to get rid of the ASV system to clean stuff up a bit too. thanks everyone.
  12. so im assuming if i pull it i need new exhaust gaskets too? Thanks for the quick responses guys. Next weekend ill be doing this and after it finished ill post up the pics for all to see
  13. This is going to be awesome. Makes me think about doing it on my 83 sedan..mmmmmhh 5 speed AND fuel injection.
  14. Just what the title states. Im swapping from auto to manual and wonder do i need to drop the exhaust at the manifolds or is there a place to separate it after the Y pipe? reason i ask is my heads have been helicoiled twice so i would rather not disturb them right now as they are not leaking. If worst comes to worst i will but i would rather not. I would just crawl under the car and look for myself except im an hour and a half away from it. Thanks in advance
  15. Haha inexpensive..if they were that id own one..oh wait im in college..that may have something to do with it.
  16. hmmm i just installed them dry and havent had a problem yet that i know of. Maybe i got lucky.
  17. also when doing the swap make sure that the gasket surface that your mating the carb to (the intake in other words) is really clean of anything and flat. Otherwise your new carb wont run right cause of a huge vacuum leak under the carb. Other than that..mount it..start it..adjust the idle screw..adjust the choke if needed and adjust the mixture. you should be golden after that.
  18. subeman90 im assuming thats the digi dash out of the GL-10 from Harry's?
  19. Yeah thats true. I was just assuming that since they are all about the same size and made the same way that it would be around the same price even if they are different. But your right. tidd1340 What tranny and engine do you have. Give subaru a call and then do some searching on the net. Im sure you'll find something.
  20. well if this is a subaru which i assume it is ballpark for the tranny mounts from subaru is 80 bucks for the pair. If you go elsewhere you can get them cheaper...say 60 for the pair.
  21. carfreak85 do u know what thread measurement that hurst handle was?
