  1. Haha i would if i didnt care about getting it off again but i want to be able to take it off if i need to
  2. now is 3/8" hole smaller than what i have or bigger. If its smaller i would think i could drill it out and tap it to my threads.
  3. haha well since jon brought this thread back from the dead ill add another question to to it. would this be something that i could make work on top of my shifter? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hurst-T-Handle-Shift-Knob-Pontiac-GTO_W0QQitemZ110049925138QQihZ001QQcategoryZ140728QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD6VQQcmdZViewItem
  4. They have valves made of white plastic piping? PCV is what you meant...sorry i dont mean offense i just couldnt resist.
  5. yeah i know they sold EA81 coupes in regular and turbo models. I was refering to the the RX twin carb car. Didnt they have different heads and cam as well? it was putting out what 100-110hp? Thats the car i want!! Coupes are cool but i was mainly refering to the EA81 RX.
  6. wow im in love with your RX. I wish they sold them over in the states cause id be looking for one right now. Oh well. Good luck with it.
  7. so ur saying i should jump the other two together so that it will start? And about the drilling i thought about that myself and might just do that even though i dont like the idea of exposing new metal on these cars.
  8. Thanks GD. Now is there any place that i should route the wires? Im thinking that up through that hole behind the shock tower on the drivers side where the main harness goes would be a good place to route the wire. I dont think i would want to route it through the shift hole. Or is there another hole that would be closer to it? Also is there something i have to hook up so that the car will think its in park or neutral to start it?
  9. OH YEAH.. the main reason i was selling it was cause it was too sluggish. Now that im going to do the swap im def keeping it.
  10. um is that to convert from auto to standard? because i didnt state that earlier. Im converting from auto to stick shift.
  11. So when hocrest and I pulled the tranny from the junk car there was a wiring harness on the drivers side of the tranny with two wires going to it. We unplugged it and snagged it as well. Is this my reverse harness? Will it just plug in place of my auto one and give me reverse lights? Probably not huh?
  12. well on the EA81's if its the rear main it leaks between the tranny and the engine and down the back of the crossmember. You might have just overtightened the oil pan bolts and crushed the gasket causing it to leak. If it were me i would take a few hours and get a new oil pan gasket and pull that one off and try again. Also when you have it off examine the oil pan and make sure its not bent up if you over tightened it. You might get lucky with that being the only cause of it.
  13. we've all been there..ur not incompetent. Is this an EA81 or 82? I know on the EA81's the factory actually drilled holes in the crossmember so you could get the oil pan off without removing the engine. If yours is an EA82 check and see if its the same. I did an oil pan gasket on my first suby without taking the engine out or undoing the motor mounts.
  14. well if its leaking onto your exhaust and burning off its either leaking from the waaaayy back of the oil pan (something that you could easily find out) or the rear main seal. thats my best guess not seeing where its burning off on the exhaust.
  15. you say all the oil seals? So you did the rear main seal? Thats where my engine leaked the worst. If you oil pan is leaking i wouldnt think it would touch your exhaust.
  16. ok this is my final bump before caving and buying it from the dealer. Anyone got any more ideas or would the dealer be my best bet?
  17. Can we see some pics of that 83 RX? Thats one sweet car.
  18. yeah thats an EA82 i was about to say the same. I would be interested if they were the same but i have no clue. And it was good meeting you too matt.
  19. haha hmm interesting. I think ill just stick with the real thing. Motor mounts were expensive but not as bad as the clutch so...
  20. yeah im beginning to think i might have to shell out 140 bucks for the kit and 60-80 for the tranny mounts. Im going to end up spending more on the clutch kit and tranny mounts than i did on the entire tranny and everything needed to swap it into my ride. :-\
  21. wow thats still expensive. I thought 140 was alot..i guess not.
  22. Hey everyone. For those that dont know i just got a 5 speed out of a Harry's U pull it. It needed new shifter bushings and tranny mounts and a new clutch kit too i assume. I just got off the phone with the subaru dealership and the tranny mounts cost 43 dollars a piece:eek: and the clutch costs 140. The shifter bushings were really cheap at 2 bucks a piece so thats fine but does anyone know where to get tranny mounts and a clutch kit for a 2wd 5 speed cheaper than that? If i were to do it from the dealership i would end up spending more money than i did for the whole tranny.
  23. wow i see alot of oil in the driveway..i assume you have lots of subarus
