  1. :slobber: your my HERO!!!!!! btw Connie is it alright if i bring my gf?
  2. Yup thats what i was going to say. Thats what most new cars tail lights are sealed with today.
  3. John just needs to wear cover-alls or not bend over near a cut off wheel
  4. No but only factory struts have the height adjustment i believe. If you go aftermarket you lose it. Either that or those are 2wd later EA81 struts. All i know is they look identical to whats in my 2wd EA81 coupe (1983).
  5. Nope. Whether or not its DL or GL has nothing to do with the auto trans.
  6. I wouldnt pay that much for an automatic brat with 130k and rust issues. I dont know if you have ever driven an automatic early 80s subaru but...they suck! If your going to get a brat i would advise you look for a 4 speed (most were). The auto is rarer but for a reason.
  7. Hes also been talking about the sedan build thread...FOR WEEKS!!!! Im in. Let me know what i should bring. I can pick up chips or salsa and such or just bring a bunch of tools for installing the coupes tranny.
  8. Those KYBs are for an EA81 style brat (so gen 2). You will probably have to put in 78 or 79 brat to get the right struts.
  9. 1) I wouldnt just for the fact that its steel on an otherwise aluminum head. I used it as a place to tap the holes out for bigger exhaust studs so that i dont hae the problem of the exhaust studs stripping out of the soft aluminum. 2) Yup if you get rid of the pipe coming off the bottom of the head ditch everything else connected to it including that valve (which is the ASV) 3) Just make sure to plug up any ports that get opened on the air cleaner since if memory serves those things tie into it somehow.
  10. You should be able to pass without them. They are not charcoal canisters those are the ASV valves (well the pipes up to the valves that is). Just takes air from the intake and pushes it into the exhaust to clean it up a bit. Doesnt really hurt performance but by this time many are backfeeding exhaust into the carb. Ive had it happen on all three of my subarus and have just gotten in the habbit of ditching them completely on every EA81 from now on. My method of ditching them is to unscrew the pipe at the bottom of the head...cut the pipe off and let it fall out of the fitting...stuff a quarter in the opening on the head and tighten the fitting back down on the quarter. Bye bye ASV pipe and ASV.
  11. What he said. Those side ducts stay with the dash. Ducting isnt really the issue its the hooking up of all the wires and getting the wires tucked where they are supposed to go thats somewhat a pain. Ive had my dash out 3 times now and dont really want to do it ever again (not to discourage u!). Just take your time and keep all your hardware organized and it will go fine. I think the hardest part is getting those top 10mm bolts tightened down back near the windshield. I have a very small 1/4" gearwrench ratchet that does an awesome job of fitting back there to get at them.
  12. Used online. They come up on ebay and on craigslist from time to time. I would never pay new for them. The price of a pair new is insane. I probably stole these for the price i paid but no one really wanted a pair of brown seats...except me
  13. For the fronts you can mount two 4x6 plate speakers in the stock locations. Drivers side you have to be a bit creative with the stock speaker mount in order to get the new plate speaker to mount up and look factory. As for the rears hatches came with 4 inch round speakers which are just about as good as paperweights. I think with some massaging you can get some 5 1/4 rounds to fit or maybe even some 6 1/2 rounds (not so sure on the second one). You will most likely be mounting the speakers to the plastic however and cutting away the interior trim to do so. Ive seen it done before like that i just cant remember what size speaker was used. You would have to do some measuring and find out what works.
  14. I put a set of flofit seats (think recaros) in my EA81 coupe. All the mounting points lined up perfectly with the factory EA81 rails so all i had to do was space the seats up off the rails 1/4" to clear everything.
  15. More Jalapenos? :slobber: Your burgers are AWESOME. Im with John.... BURGERS!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. They will run better in the cold if you have your choke adjusted correctly. A weber just opens up the tuning possibilities. Stock hitachis are ok but u cant do much to them in the way of tuning. A weber is a good way of cleaning up the engine bay of a bunch of useless crap and being able to tune the car.
  17. Thats one that i hadnt thought of and also one that makes a bit more sense than all the others. I think that will be first on my list of things to try.
  18. u just like your butt flaming If we are doing a trans swap then here is your shopping list for august -Tranny mounts (the ones on the side and the small little one that is basically a shifter mount at the back) Shifter bushings (there should be 4, 2 rubber bushings and two plastic sleeve bushings) I cant remember what that rear shifter seal looked like on that trans but if it looks a bit wet then that seal too. Do you have a new clutch kit in LB too? If not i have the original clutch from the coupe (52k miles on it) so it has plenty of meat on it. You can have that if you need along with the matching flywheel.
  19. Yea im out this year too. Between the gas prices and the lower turnout i just dont wanna trek that far. Sorry Matt. Look forward to seeing everyone at Connies soon though
  20. Ive had this car aligned two-three different times by different places and they all say the alignment is dead on. If i turn left (90 degree left) onto an on-ramp then the car pulls to the left pretty hard driving at highway speeds. If i pull right onto the highway (right turn 90 degrees) it tracks pretty close to straight if not perfectly straight. I just got new tires mounted and balanced and dont want to rip them all to shreds with this issue. Anyone got any ideas? I have a few ideas and i might just do them all if no one can push me in one direction. My thoughts are Lower control arm bushings (inner fronts) Outer tie rods (grease the crap out of them or replace) Strut top assemblies (replace or grease)
  21. That 5 speed is actually the original one to my coupe...so it has 52K original miles on it . Should shift like butter once you run some ATF in it for a bit then 75w90 gear oil. Glad its going to go to good use. When that trans goes in i would replace all the shifter bushings (remembering how your shifter felt lol). After that it will shift like a new subaru.
  22. already got one from halloween. Do i need to bring it? lol
  23. hahahaha yea i did bring it once upon a time..back when it had its "baby" engine. Now its graduated up to a real camaro motor. And yes the the mullet is coming in nicely (no i dont really have a mullet for those that wonder)
