  1. MAY HAVE GOT LUCKY! Pulled one of the covers and belt is intact, tension seems right. Got a code P0340, Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction. Don't have a manual, anyone know the diagnostic steps to check this? Or should I just get a new Camshaft Position Sensor and gamble? How much could it cost ???? Bill
  2. Thanks for all the info, I am guessing if it was the belt it was caused by another components failure as I put that belt in only about 40K miles ago. It's on the hook and should be here in a couple of hours. I'll let you know what I find. Bill
  3. Sounds like my wife may have broke a timing belt, heard a pop and no power with a check engine light. Is a 99 Impreza 2.2L an interferance engine? What damage might I find once I get the car home? Bill
  4. I (the kid) has a 92 SVX the rear window washer squirter hose connector has broken. I have plugged it so it does not squirt into the car or trunk. I have not had the car in my garage long enough to remove the wiper assembly. Does anyone know if the squirter is part of the wiper or a seperate part? Bill
  5. I have the EZ SCAN, love it, although you can use it with a PC?Palm, not required and it does show a lot of real time data in the Monitor mode. Bill
  6. I did see that gizmo on the strut tower, I will have to check to see if the voltage is within range on that one. The chiltons does say that the MAP sensor has a plug and a pipe fitting for a vacum hose. This is getting confusing. OH, I am also getting the P0400 EGR code. Bill
  7. Well I am getting a P0106 Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure Circuit Range / Performance Problem. The Chiltons says there is a MAP Sensor, The photo just says "Under Cover" and there is a MAF sensor also. I doln't know why they did not remove the cover for the Pic? Bill
  8. I am looking for the MAP sensor on a 94 2.2L Impreza? The Chiltons does not have a diagram, I only know that it has 3 wires 1,2,3 I did find what I think is it but the connector is labeled A,B,C. If this is it the voltage values are way out of range, any idea on cost, do they go bad often? Any one have a photo of this sensor? Bill
  9. Where would you find the knock sensor on a 99 2.2L Impreza, are they hard to get at, and do they go bad. Meaning is there a known problem with them? Bill
  10. I fianlly got around to changing the clutch in the 99 Impreza, I have done a lot of clutches, but I don't remember any that were as easy as this one, even the exhaust nuts/bolts came off BY FINGER once they were loosened. As usual the hardest part was getting the splines lined up and the trans to slide back in. Next i need to do the water pump on the 95 Impreza.... No rest for the wicked :madder: Bill
  11. OH, I would take the trans completely out to do the clutch, not try to do it under the vehicle. Bill
  12. I thought of all the wiring, computers, etc. i have done lots of tight conversions, I will probably just fix the wrecked SVX and enjoy it. Bill
  13. I like the performance of the 2.2L, has plenty of power but I would really like to get the SVX engine I have in there. Everyone says it won't fit very easily. Do you really have to have the car 3 FEET off the ground to pull a trany, I have never had to get a car thet high, What is the reason for this? Bill
  14. The stock clutch in my 99 Impreza 2.2L has finally started to go . Any opinions on a replacement, Stock, Hi-Perf, Brands, etc. I assume that I will need to just drop the transaxel to replace and not pull the whole engine/trans combo? Don't have a manual for this MY. Looking forward to your opinions Bill
  15. Has any one had any experiance with the following trouble codes, and if so can you offer guidance on the trouble-shooting? Vehicle is a 95 Impreza 2.2 L P0304 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction P0106 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Range/Performance Problem I only have the Chilton's which is not a lot of help in cases like this. Any help appreciated, Bill
  16. According to my handy-dandy 1999 Impreza CD ROM The 2.5 (Forester) knock sensor is a Blue/Red wire and goes to pin 4 of the ECU. Not sure if yours is the same Bill
  17. I keep getting a P0325 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 or Single Sensor) code. Has anyone had experiance with this code? I am wondering what a new sensor may cost, does the 1999 Impreza 2.2 have one or two knock sensors, if two which is bank 1? I do not have any manuals for this vehicle (Haynes or Chilton do not have any out yet. To make matters worse I am (MUST) leaving on a 1500 mile trip to Phoenix on Friday, If the sensor/wiring is bad will the vehicle still run or just die somewhere? Need advice quick, Bill
