  1. There is no difference between the XT6 trannys and the EA82 series trannys. The difference is the way it is mounted to the car. Since the XT6 engine is longer, it sits further back and that makes the tranny sit a little further back. To solve this, they came up with a tranny mount the combines the to crossmembers on an EA82 series car. There is a piece the goes between these two crossmember that the tranny actually mounts to. This is almost the same as a Legacy/Impreza tranny mount. The XT6 tranny will use the same mounting points as the EA82 series cars if you are installing it behind an EA82 series engine.
  2. Yea right, your 98 Legacy 5 speed manual tranny had a fuse that when removed gave you only FWD. Well, Bradd old boy, that would be impossible since the 98 Legacy tranny is an AWD tranny and is coupled to the front and rear by a viscous coupler, and nothing electric, it is all mechanical. I'm not saying that your Legacy didn't have the fuse, I'm just saying that there is nothing electrically that connects the two drive axles so removing a fuse would do nothing.
  3. Adam, almost everything you stated was correct, but the fuse thing is for AWD auto trannies, not Fulltime 4WD manual trannies. Bradd, you can not change just the ring gear in a rear diff without some major work. The ring and pinion gears are matched sets. Just find an EA82 turbo and manual tranny, it will have either an open or a LSD 3.70 rear diff.
  4. I quess my questions, "Why???" and will it be functional and if so, what would be the function. I know someone will someday try to get me to eat these words, but I feel if it isn't functional, why add it?
  5. Well, unless the customer recently came forward, no one at PAP knew that, and Mike was the first person on the site after it happened.
  6. Yes the backing plates are required. Since the caliper bolt to the backing plates and since the rotors are larger, the backing plate needs to match the larger rotors.
  7. Before they can sue, they have to prove wrongful death. Josh did not wait for Mike to return before he continue, and he was told not to do anything until Mike got there. There were several investigators there today when I was there. Mike felt really bad and didn't even want to be at work, but he was told to be there so that he was available for the investigators if they wanted to question him. I feel really sorry about the death of this young man, but I feel that had he waited until Mike got there, he'd still be alive today.
