  1. The only thing you need to do to the rear backing plate is to enlargen the hole in the center so that it slides over the 4WD rear axle bearing housing. It has been done by several here on the board and works just fine.
  2. These engines are commonly used it Experimental Aircraft, you might try the EAA web site.
  3. So far we only have 23 cars signed up, and a total of 60 people. There are still three people who have signed up and not paid, I'll be sending e-mails to them next week. Come guys and gals, I know that there are many of you who are thinking of going, so why not commit now?
  4. The early EJ20TTs put out around 220hp at the engine, the idea of the twin turbo is not more horsepower, but power over a broader range. One of the turbos is a low end power turbo the other is for high end power, as the one is peaking out, the other starts coming into play, thus giving a broader power range. The EJ20G that is in the early Legacy (Liberty) and WRX models gave horse pwoer ranging from 220hp to 275hp. I believe that the horse power increase when they stared using the EJ20K and EJ205 engines for the twin turbo models, I believe that started around 1997, so it is possible for a 97 to have 260hp. Also, through modifications, it is not impossible to get over 400hp at the wheel with an EJ20 series turbo engine.
  5. It is at the Hood River Fair Grounds, all public roads around it, they should have the road construction done by now.
  6. Ed, I think that Dodge Neon, the blue front and green bodied car, is powered by an EJ20G.
  7. I have been running an EJ20G from a 96 WRX in my 96 Impreza for almost two years now, the engine has over 100k miles on it an still runs like a champ. Maintenance is the most important thing in keeping these engines running, I change oil and filter every 3000 miles and keep my eye on the temperature guage. I expect this engine to last over 200k miles. This is my daily driver, round trip to work is 64 miles.
  8. I agree with Jamie here, but I'm curious, did you buy your car new? If so, why didn't you buy a WRX or a STi? It seems like you have money to buy a kit, and with all the extra work (and money) it would take to install such a kit, the additional cost of a WRX and maybe a STi would be a bargain, plus you would have a factory warrantee, if you add the turbo to your 2006, you will void the factory warrantee.

I know that they made BRATs long after they stopped shipping them to the USA, but I have never heard of a BRAT with an EA82 from the factory, is yours stock, or did someone replace the EA81 engine that most BRATs (Gen 2) came with? If it is an EA82, all you need is to fine an turbo EA82 and use those parts. I don't know of any after market turbo kits for an EA82.
  10. Well we are six weeks away from the show, still only a hand full of people have pre-registered, some have registered but not paid yet. I'm making the 10th of August as the last day that you can pre-register. For those who have pre-registered, but have not paid (that means money in the my hands by that date) will be dropped from pre-register and have to pay full price at the gate. So if you've been waiting to get your pre-registration in, wait no longer.
  11. What is really strange is that for WRXs, they are GC if they are sedans or coupes, the number of doors is elsewhere in the model number, unlike USDM cars where GC is a sedan, GF is a wagon, and GM is a coupe.
  12. Ok, time to open school again, GC8 is for a WRX, I'd be willing to bet that you have a GC6 or a GC something. I know everyone calls the first and second gen Imprezas GC8s, but that is wrong, the GC part is correct, but the number '8' is for WRXs.
  13. Get a life, Brian was calling her a 'he', I was just setting the record straight. If anyone in the Portland area recognizes the board name, please contact them and tell them that I need to hear from them.
  14. I realize you are just trying to help, but if SHE doen't look in the upper right hand corner, she will never know that she has a PM.
  15. Brian, I've sent e-mails to the address given on the registration and no reply, I'm hope they log on here and see this, maybe they will PM me.
  16. If your board name is gustyrusty, please PM me, it is about WCSS 8 registration.
  17. Yes, exactly there is no speed sensor, the ECU is not reading the sensor, so it is defaulting to the setting where the engine doesn't rev over 4500rpm.
  18. Sounds like the ECU is not reading speed, so it defaults to a lesser mode which allows the engine to run, but only up to 4500rpm. I have a friend who broke the speedo cable in his Impreza, the engine wouldn't go over 4500rpm until he replaced the cable, then everything was back to normal.
  19. Jamie wouldn't have beaten me if the rear glass that I had shipped from Arizona back in December didn't get broken in shipping. I now have a second glass, it is intact, so sometime this week I'll be putting it into my car. Pics when completed.
  20. Where did you get that info. I have a rear diff from a Legacy with a 3.90 ratio. I know Imprezas that have a 4.444 ratio. It is really hard to generalize with Subarus, just as soon as you think you have all the info, something else crops up.
