  1. I'll probably be getting a set of those decals from you. But first I need at lease another complete one. I may end up casting these out of aluminum.

  3. I was wondering why there was blue paint on one of my pieces, now I know. Where did Connie get her new badges? Were they a miracle find, like some of the parts that I come up with? I need to find a place that re-chromes plastic, then figure out the Subaru star formation, that area is a separate piece.
  4. I'm looking for some close up pictures of good quality badges on an 83 or 84 Turbo Coupe, especially the cross shaped badge under the "C" pillar. I'm also looking for complete cross badges, no matter what shape, as long as they are in one piece.
  5. Yes, I do have a rear hatch, but it is not black or white, it came from the only non-white or black RX that I have ever documented. If you want it, just PM me and I'll give you my address and you can come and pick it up.

  9. What is even scarier is that he is old enough to be my son. His mother and I went to High School together, but ran in different crowds, I knew who she was, we had several classes together. I'll try to make it Zap, it depends upon where I am with my project. I want to be there cause I need to get a look at your new coupe.

  11. Too bad that I just found this post, I might have been able to solve it earlier. There was no "special" edition RX from Subaru, so if this had been an RX it would have had to have been a dealer special. The fact that there were no power windows would have had me thinking that is was not a RX. This car is rare because it was a dealer special, but not exactly high on the collectable list.

  13. Gee, sounds like fun, I've never been to that part of the USA. Unfortunately I will be at a music festival on Vancouver Island with Ed that weekend. Oh well, there is always next year, if I'm not in South Korea then.

Not sure if this was causing the same problem with my 95 Legacy EJ22, but the front pulley came loose and started to eat the key way causing metal shavings to settle on and near the crank angle sensor. I know this is part of the triggering mechanism for Subarus. You may want to pull your sensor and see if it is clean. In my case, I waited too long to fix the problem and now a new front pulley wobbles, so the end of the crank is worn. New engine time.
  15. I have no idea what type of tool this special tool is, but it would have to be something really special. The adjustment button sits on top of the valve stem, under the cam follower (which looks like a shot glass turned upside down and placed over the valve assembly). Since you would have to remove the cam follower to replace the button, I don't see how any tool could do this without removing the cam. Usually the only time you would make and adjustment is after a valve job. It sounds like either your valve stem is stretching or the valve seat is wearing out, either one would require a valve job.
  16. Overheating problem can be a real bear to solve, sometimes they seem to solve themself. I've have a reoccuring one in my JDM powered Impreza. Once it was the radiator, but I didn't find that out until I have rebuilt the engine.
  17. If you do start pulling parts for people, I would like the cross shaped emblem on the side of the car towards the rear, under the quarter panel window, one on my car is broken. If you can get both that would be appreciated.
  18. I believe 96 was the last year of non-interferance engines, they went to the interferance engine to gain a little horse power and torque. You could probably get the same hp gain on the pre 97 engine by adding a cool air intake.
  19. You might be able to make it work on the front, but the rear is definately a problem. The rear axle are very different, especially how the attach to the rear diff. You might be able to work around this by using the same rear diff that you get the axles from, it will bolt up, be careful to make sure the rear diff ratio is the same as your tranny. That my be that hard part since most of the EJ series cars that I have dealt with, the highest ratio is 3.900, most are 4.111 and some are 4.444. The other part of the rear challenge are the hubs, I'm not sure if they will work or not and I don't have an EA car to look at to see if they would. If you got to my web site http://www.corkysrocks.net/SubaruPage.htm and look under projects, you'll see the conversion that I did about 7 years ago. I was one of the first in the Pacific Northwest to do the conversion and they have been many variation on that conversion by others since then. I realize the hardest part for you is finding XT6 part, if I remember correctly, Subaru did not import that car to Austraila. I have some friends in Adelaide, some day I need to get down there for a visit.
  20. Thanks for the update. An analysis, is a great start, but not always accurate. On my hrydrocarbon test, the test fluid turned a blue green, showing that there was a present of hydrocarbons in the water. The test fluid in suppose to go from blue to bright green. It was based upon that test that I decided to rebuild the engine only to find out that the problem was the radiator. I have no idea where the small amount of hydrocarbons came from, maybe from using spray lubricant on the hoses to make them easier to install. Anyway, good luck on your journey, let us know what happens.
  21. Sounds more like a clogged ratiator to me. I recently rebuilt my engine only to find out that the problem still exsisted. I used a laser temperture measuring device and found cold spots in the radiator, once I replaced the radiator, the problem went away. The problem was identical to what you are saying.
  22. It's just us old folks who need their sleep. You young people can party all night if you want and you won't distrub us. As far as I know, there is camping at the fair grounds.
  23. I've done this a few times (boy that's an understatement) and I was surprized that you didn't mention anything about grinding the diff housing. There isn't much grinding, but it is needed to clear some bolts on the LDS unit.
  24. And then there was one. Something you need to know if you are planning to reserve the last room, since it is one of their larger rooms, they require a three night stay during the summer month, the rent on that room is $99 per night, it sleeps up to 4 people, but the $99 is only good for the first two people, person number 3 and 4 will cost an additional $10 each per night. The place is within walking distance of the fairgrounds.
