  1. Weatherman says it is suppose to clear up this afternoon, maybe the worst will be scattered showers.
  2. Sounds like it is an auto tranny, so flat towing may not be a problem, if it is AWD then the center diff would be an open diff so binding shouldn't be a problem. I've had engines that sat for over two years that had not leaks, and have had engines that sat for less then a year that leaked all over. Alot depends on the state of the seals at the time the engine was stopped for storage. If you have the abliltiy, it is always a good precaution to re-seal an engine that has set for awhile. Having good gas in the system will help getting it started. I don't think flushing the tranny with have any effect on starting the engine, but may be needed to drive the car.
  3. As much as it would be nice to see a bunch of Subarus all together, I doubt there will be that many people show up, and if we take up the whole parking lot, so be it.
  4. That's cool, I just thought that since you were talking about pulling parts too that it would be an afternoon thing.
  5. Dinner time??? I thought it would be like a lunchtime get together.
  6. I wasn't there, but I heard that there was a guy in a silver WRX who might have single handed ruined it for us at the fair grounds.
  7. Sounds like a JDM setup, they all have fuel cut outs at around 180kph (approx 115mph).
  8. Wish I could help you, I thought that they only put the Nav system into the B9 Tribeca. Glad to see it in the Outback, that was one of my requirement for buying a new one.
  9. Why Fridays? Make it a Saturday and there is a good chance I'll show up. So, if you don't want me to show, do the Friday thing. Man, I haven't been to wongleflute's in ages, I agree with Zap, wongleflute's would be better (but I love the Teriaki Chicken Sandwich at RR's).
  10. But you might have to change more then just the ECU, I believe that there are a few more wires on the turbo then the N/A. People will tell you to swap out the wiring harness, but the Legacy store the ECU under the steering column and the Impreza stores it under the passenger foot rest area. The Impreza routes it's engine harness through the middle of the fire wall, where the Legacy routes it along the left side of the car, then into the passenger compartment by the driver's left foot.
  11. It depends on how much he likes the car. Personally I would fix it myself, but I don't know this person's mechanic abilities or depth of his pockets. If he sells it he will more then likely lose money on the sale.
  12. There is not a single 97 Impreza Factory Shop Manual, between 93 to 99 they were a series of manuals each building upon the previous one, so for a 97 you would need all the FSMs from 93 to 97. For most of the mechanical stuff, the Legacy manual will work, but the body and engine wiring is different. That car belongs to Austin, who is heading back to the Pacific Northwest this summer.
  13. Hey, go ahead and suck you all the credit. How soon they forget who taught them how to do that.
  14. Clutch mechanism is different, the turbo is a pull type, where the N/A is a push type, the tranny for the turbo is different because of that. I think you can get a clutch for your Forester tranny setup the will hold up to the turbo, it would be a lot cheaper the doing the whole tranny swap, plus you'd be able to keep the D/R.
  15. Gee thanks Skippy. I have a 95 wagon, it has the newer body style, plus the bullet proof EJ22 in it. Unless you can get you hands on a JDM wagon with an EJ20G engine in it, that would be your best option, second choice would be any 90 - 94 wagon.
  16. Yea, I read that too and was wondering how he knew that, if he does have the codes, telling us that would be very helpful.
  17. Exhaust valve?? What do you think the possibility of two exhaust valves on opposite sides of the engine (in a USA car 1 & 3 are on the pass side and 2 & 4 are on the driver side) would go bad at the same time. Not likely. Please have the timing checked and make sure the timing belt is set correctly. Since the ECU reads input from both the crank and cam sensor, if there is a slight difference the timing will be off. The crank angle sensor is the constant, the cam angle sensor is the variable. You aren't the one who put the 2004 WRX engine into their 2002 WRX are you?
  18. I thought about this a little more, have you checked the crank angle and cam angle sensors? Have you checked the cam pulley that matches to the sensor?
  19. Yep, I've got a like new 2001 FSM set (just dust from sitting around) for $275, that is for all 8 books plus three suppliments (auto tranny, mech functions, 6 cylinder).
  20. Let me look, I might have a set of Factory Service Manuals for an 01 Legacy (which includes OutBacks). Most of the ones that I have are new to slightly used. Send me a PM.
  21. Austin, last year it was intended to be a RS only meeting, this year it is open to any Subaru.
