There is a rumor that the XT6 came with a 3.90 LSD but it has never been verified. The 1991 Legacy Tubro had a VLSD 3.90 in it, but they are very rare. The easiest thing to do is to find a 3.70 LSD and swap out the centers. Replace the open diff in your 3.90 with the LSD center out the the 3.70, leaving the original ring gear. But all this depends on whether you have the same rear diff as the earlier cars, if not, you have to swap out the LSD from a 4.11 rear diff.

Borgward?
Dr. RX replied to cookie's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
Here is a photo of the Borgward engines that I remember, Doesn't look like a boxer engine to me. By the way, this is a 1954 model year. Well, did some further reseach. It looks like in the mid 50's Borgward Lloyd division did produce a boxer 4 cylinder, water cooled engine, a version of that engine was used in the early 70's GLF Subarus. I couldn't find a picture of that engine, still looking. -
2.5 Rs Sti???

Maybe so, but the door cards will not, and that will give the car a less then professional look. I guess it is a matter of taste, I prefer a car that has the orginal look, other don't care how their car looks as long as it goes fast. -

Gee Jamal, he did say 97 or so, I took that to mean that he didn't really know when the RS started, and besides, it is not really relivant to what he is asking. I wonder why he would have to go to nasioc.com to get this info, there are a few people who are regulars on this board who have done the conversion. I wish it were just that simple to swap out the wire harnesses, but the instrument panel, the HVAC and other things are different between a 98 RS and a 2005 STi, it isn't a simple swap. If it were so simple as that, there would be a whole lot more people doing it, and the tuner shops wouldn't be charging so much to do the swap. I have, in one way or another, done 5 of these type of conversions. -
West Coast Subaru Show #8 date and venue decided.

Gee, at WCSS6 my car won 1st place in the Impreza group, at WCSS7 it didn't even get an honorable mention. Not always the same people. It was the way each even was judged, WCSS6 was more of a people's choice, were WCSS7 was more of a tuner's choice. -

I guess I would need to know which STi motor you are talking about. As far as I know, any EJ series engine will bolt into any EJ series car. The only real hurtle in such a conversion is the wiring of the ECU for the engine to the car it is being installed in. -
The first two are wrong, the highest hp for a 94 was 250hp, they would be EJ20G, the 97 would be an EJ20K, the others are probably EJ205s or EJ207s. But that being said, there are very few early WRXs that are stock, most have been modified in some way or another. I went back to the site, they don't have pictures of either 94 engine. It could be that they are going by manufactured date, it which case any engine made 9/94 or later would be a 95, and those hp rates are 260 for WRX, 275 for STi (red top). Did some more snooping at the site, I found pictures of the 94 and up engines, the first is a 95 260hp http://www.venus-auto.com/coming/a15/a15%2095-260.htm , the second is alas a 95 http://www.venus-auto.com/coming/a15/a15%2095-280.htm someone has painted the intake red (Subaru didn't do that until 97) so if it is a STi, it has 275hp and you probably couldn't tell the difference between 275 and 280 hp until you reached top end, but JDM ECU have a fuel cut out at 180kmps so even then you probably would be able to tell. You need to contact then to see if they still have those engines, they got them in over 6 months ago.
-
Sorry Noah, no EJ20G has 280+ hp (highest 275hp) nor did they come with red intakes, you want an EJ20K, but if you can find an EJ22G (came only in the 22B), that would be better.
-
Well, that depends upon the engine, if you are swapping heads from a closed deck engine to a closed deck engine, or a semi closed to semi-closed, or an open deck to an open deck, yes the heads will interchange. Any combination of different types of engines and the cooling holes and/or oil passages will not align properly.
-
????? Upon what do you base this misinformation? I have an EJ20G (DOHC) in my Impreza with over 100,000 trouble free miles. All of the Subaru WRX Rally car since 90 have run with a DOHC engine. All WRXs come with DOHC engine since they started building them in 93. The one series of DOHC engine that has had a problem was the first gen EJ25, but that is only a small portion of the Subaru DOHC engines.

Sorry for being so stupid, but since I haven't had anything to sell, or needed anything I haven't visted the Market Place for a long time. Can't say as I need anything right now, would be nice to see everyone, but I promised the wife a movie Saturday afternoon. I guess it's better to be a dummy then a smart rump roast.

Dang, you came all the way up here and didn't call, heck I'm less then an hours drive from Dave's place. When are you planning to be back up this way? Maybe we can meet at Dave's and go get some lunch like we did down in Bend. -
SVX to EA82 5 lug conversion?
Dr. RX replied to torxxx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Why would you want to do that, the SVX has a different bolt pattern then any other Subaru exception the 2006 STi's. I believe it is a 5 X 114mm. -
I'm sure there are copyrights involved here, so scanning isn't the answer.

For those of you who subscribe to SubieSport magazine, the April 2006 has a great article about the Megasquirt system in a RX (our very own WJM's). For those of you who don't but want some good source information on the Megasquirt, I would suggest you fine a place to buy a copy or see if you can order one issue for SubieSport. After reading that article, I can instantly think of two projects that could use this setup, there are probably many more out there in the works who would be helped greatly by this system.

WJM, great article in SubieSport, so far I've just glanced through it, but I will get around to reading every word. Too bad that is now history.
