  1. Out of all the colors that we paint our airplanes, the one with the most shades is white. I seem to remember something like 3,000 shades of white, so good luck on getting an exact match.
  2. Converting to AWD if you have a on-demand 4WD tranny is just a matter of replacing the tranny. Make sure that the rear differential is the same same the one in that car that the AWD tranny came from. If both come from Turbo cars, they are most likely 3.70 (maybe even LSD). There were AWD trannies in N/A cars, those will have a 3.90 rear diff. Another thing to be aware of is the front axle splines where they attach to the tranny, a turbo will be different from a N/A, so if you have a turbo now, it would be best to get that AWD from a turbo car. TahoeFerrari, the wheel base is that same on all EA82 series cars, sedan, 3dr and wagon. All driveline and suspension parts are interchangeable.
  3. It's all in the VIN, if it is a 56B, it is a RX, if not, it isn't. There were some GL Turbo 3dr in 86 that actually had the 56B in the VIN, I had one, but no where on the car was there any decal stating it was a RX, if it wasn't for very bad cancerous rust, that car would still be around. Some of the aero body kit parts were only available on 87 and on RX 3drs.
  4. That looks like the file is internal to your computer, you need to post it to a web site, so it can be viewed over the internet. I believe you can put them in the USMB Photo Gallery, but I'm not sure how to since I have my own web site to post pictures on.
  5. I guess I need to know who name is on the title of the vehicle. Does the car belong to you, or is your dad just letting you drive it. If it belongs to you Dad, that any discussion is a mute point.
  6. I don't know why they wouldn't, they are basically the same engine. I know people who have installed EJ22s into a car that had an EJ18 in it, they had to use the EJ18 intake manifold, so I know there is no difference there. Why do you feel that the EJ18 heads will give you high compression? Does it have fewer cc's (in the compustion camber area of the head) then the EJ22 heads? Or is it the pistions that are giving teh EJ18 higher compression?
  7. The 3.70 LSD will be a lot easier to find (all RXs, optional on most turbo power GLs and GL-10s, standard on 89 GL-10) then the 3.90 VLSD, the VLSD was only on one car for one year and only on the sedans, 91 Legacy SS Turbo. I've heard that there are SVXs out there with VLSDs in them, but I've never seen one, doesn't mean that they don't exist, just that I have never seen one..
  8. I had one (3.9 VLSD) in my 86 GL-10 Turbo Sedan, I also installed a D/R out of a N/A so I needed the 3.9. I only drove it on the street, but the person that I got it from, who does some serious off roading, tried it in a car, but didn't like it, so he went to a clutch type LSD. I tend to agree that the VLSD is for road cars, not off roaders.
  9. The viscous coupler does not use the diff oil for fiction, the coupler has a viscous fluid sealed in it. Use any 75/90W oil, but I understand that synthetic is better, so maybe try Redline Shockproof.
  10. Heck, maybe if James Rachner had raced more, he'd have been at the top of his class. Only one race, and he got 1st place in that one.
  11. True, the calipers are the same, but the disc is larger on the XT6, which is why the backing plate is different, and that is where the caliper bolts to. But to answer your question, yes, it should work on a 5 bolt conversion.
  12. You don't remember why my driver side fender is silver instead of blue???
  13. Racing background, please elaborate. I live in the USA, Washington State, in a town called Sammamish, just east of Seattle. I high school, there was an exchange student from South Africa, her name was Joan Clote (can't remember if that is the correct spelling), any way, she was my senior prom date.
  14. Well with a nickname like that, I was hoping you were. So, what happened to the first Subie? I detect something not good with your "sniff" comment.
  15. If I came out with you guys, the DCCD wouldn't get into the car. Besides, I wouldn't want another incident like last year to happen to my car again.
  16. Western had a grant from Subaru to design a new engine, I have seen the prototypes, the engine which Subaru put into production from this grant work was the EJ SOHC series engine (89-94 series). There has been a close working relationship between Western and Subaru. When Dr. Seals officially retired (he still hangs around the shop) he was working on a V12 engine that one half was N/A and the only turbocharged, the engine would run on the N/A half of the engine until extra power was needed, then the turbo side would cut in. Oh yea, the engine was mostly composite.
  17. Sorry, won't make it this year, the ride goes into the garage (mine) to get the DCCD installed.
  18. So, I can't believe that you didn't say anything about the windshield. On all Subarus that I have seen with air bags that had deployed, the passenger side air bag usually takes out the windshield too. It takes a special torx with a hole in the center to remove the bolts that hold the air bags in place. Keith, did you read the fix for the air bag problem? They just remove the front tow hooks, both my 95 Legacy wagons still have the tow hooks there.
  19. I love CenterForce Clutches, I have one in my WRX, I was wanting to put one in my RX when I had it, but they didn' show an application. Good luck, they are definately worth the cost.
