  1. No I don't mind, besides, this is a non-working party, open to everyone.
  2. Sure, no problem, you might even find stuff you need.
  3. Oh come on, I drove all the way to Bend, OR to meet you. Never mind that I was staying in Sisters at the time.
  4. I'm kind of surprized at the lack of input that I have received on this. I hope no one is planning to just show up since I am planning the food based upon the number of people who respond. So if you drop in unannounced, don't expect to be feed. If you don't want to post it here that you are coming (and why I can't imagine, but it's your choice), please send me a PM letting me know.
  5. These will not install into a left hand drive car without major modifications to the car, or engine, or both. They will install into a right hand drive car, it's a bolt up installation for the components, but a nightmare on re-wiring.
  6. One of the things that will be part of the "Garage Warming" party will be a tarp with parts on it, if you can find something on the tarp that you need, it's yours. Anything left on the tarp with be going to the dump or metal recycle. Most, if not all of the stuff will be either EA81 series or EA82 series stuff.
  7. My 96 Impreza with the 96 JDM WRX engine in it has a fuel cut out at about 118mph with is roughly 185kph. Did you even wonder why JDM speedo only go up to 180kph?
  8. Actually, that is the pathway to the backyard.
  9. Gee, the highest posted speed limit that I've seen is 70mph. Of course, I never go that slow either.
  10. Well, the first coat of floor paint went on today, I'll put the second coat on tomorrow. Hey, I think it is time to set a date for the offical 'garage warming party'. It looks like Saturday the 20th of August would be a good time. I'll probably set up a bar-b-que on the back deck and have a couple of coolers available for beverages. I'll probably cook up some hamburgers, if you want something else. bring it and you can cook it up. I'll have a small selection of pop, so you might want to bring your favorite beverage, there should be room in one of the coolers for it. So RSVP, let me know who's coming over.
  11. Too bad these weren't the coupes that Subaru did in 87 for the WRC, I'd love to get my hands on one of them and restore it.
  12. WOW, times have changed, I've always heard the expression as, "You ain't far wrong." Oh well, looks like down under will never be the same. Hey Freak, how much of the Leg Turbo was still there, I need the intake manifold complete.
  13. Could you provide a link to that site and/or post? Since STi (but not under that name) started at Subaru sometime in the late 80's, I guess it might be proper to call it a RX STi.
  14. Well, it really depends upon how long you want your engine to last. You can keep it at 14 and be happy a long time, you can boost it to 30 and start putting money away for a rebuild shortly, or you can boost it up to 50 for a single run and have a spare engine sitting at the finish line, the choice is yours.
  15. Boy, that is strange, my insurance covers windshields, I've had three replaced so far on that insurance, with $100 deductable.
  16. 1971 SVX, WOW that would be a rare car. I know you meant 1991, right?? Hey, you ever race up Mount Royal? I took a rental car up there in 2003, looks like places might be fun as speed (if the RCMP don't catch you).
  17. Wait a minute, is this a Subaru dealer??? If they told you the engine was built by Alfa, you'd better find another dealer and report them to Subaru of America. They do have a reasonable labor charge though. but with all the other untruths that they have told you, I'd be suspicious there also. I wonder if I would get a different story if I took you car in, want to bet?
  18. You saw Zap??? Don't think so, he was in San Fransico attending a wedding.
  19. The real problem is that there is no complete manual for a 98 Impreza, You will need to get the 1993 through 1998 volumns. If you get just the 98 manual, it will only have those things that have changed for 98, some of the sections will be missing because they were covered in an earlier manual. Subaru went back to the single manual for each year with the 2000 model year. You might get that one (set), it should cover most of what you need.
  20. The 750 (pre 2005) would be a V-12, the V-8 is the 740 (pre 2005), so I guess we need to know whether his dad is talking about the new models or the pre-2005 models. You know this type of question will never be settled. I own a 92 Chevy full size Blazer that I 4wheel all the time. I take it when I go 4wheeling with the Hatch Patrol. There are someplaces, because of the wheel base, that the Subies have gone, that I wasn't able to go, but for the most part, I could go anywhere they did. I also own a 96 WRX STi Type R, which has more horsepower then a stock US model WRX and is very close to the performance of a US model STi, so I have an understand of that type of performance, I also once owned a 1981 Euro 735i, not quite a newer 7 series, but it should be similar in many ways. I wouldn't ever discount the BMW's agility, I was ever impressed with the handling of the 735i, I use to chase Porsche 911s with it all the time. The Porsche drivers couldn't figure out how such a large car could keep up with them. But trying to compare the Subaru WRX/STi with the BMW would be like comparing apples and oranges, yes they are both cars, but that is where the similarities end. Both were designed to accomplish different things, as were the Chevy Suburbans. Tell your dad that Subarus are real 4WD vehicles and probably do better in the snow then many larger 4WD vehicles. There is another facter that hasn't been discussed here, and that is the driver. To correct for differences, the drivers need to drive both vehicles, then compare the performance of the cars by the dirvers, not against cars.
  21. Brad, the B9 that I was talking about was a prototype that was show circuit either last year or the year before. It was a convertable, 2 door, not the SUV that now bears the name B9.
  22. Well, I guess this would be a good opportunity to meet me then, wouldn't it?
  23. From 95 to 99, the Legacy FSM was a set of updates. The first two ringed binders are for the 95 model year, they put out at least one book per year with only the updated material, so if you have a 98 Legacy, you'll need the FSMs for model years 95, 96, 97 and 98. In 2000 they came to their senses and went back to printing a complete manual for evey model year. I have a set of FSMs for a Legacy from 1995 to 99, but for some reason, there is no wiring diagram for the 95 model year, starting in 96 there is one, but it isn't complete. If I remember correctly, there are 13 books that make up the FSM for the Legacy model years 95 to 99.
