  1. Man, how the heck did it get bent in the first place. I'll check my EJ20G Leagcy turbo, my EJ20G Impreza turbo and my EA82T turbos and see if there is much difference.
  2. Try this, http://www.masoncountytourism.com/x162.xml and this http://www.masoncountytourism.com/x237.xml
  3. Larry, that would be quite a tow to Colorado Springs, besides, Gnuman did ask first and is a lot closer. But like I said, if it had been closer to me, Gnuman would have lost out.
  4. I know that you are too polite to do this, but you should write a letter to Subaru telling them that you are selling the car rather then put up with their lack of customer support. If they want the engine torn down, they should pay for it. I wish I was closer, I'd stop by a look it over, but I think that a few closer have expressed interest already.
  5. On Ebay the other day someone was selling a SVX engine that he has in his VW Vanagon.
  6. I would be surprized it it was an EA71 since it is a GL, I thought only the DL got the EA71 as standard with the EA81 as an option, and the GL only engine was the EA81.
  7. Basically the same engine as the early EJ22s, there are some slight differences, but nothing that would change reliability. Like ballitch, I have never heard of any problems with the EJ18. This engine as well as the EJ15 and EJ16 are used in most third world countries, some are even carburated and have distributors.
  8. Thanks for clearing that up, too many people running too many directions. I hope Subaru of North America picks up the bill.
  9. I'm going to sound like a prick, but I can't believe that you read all the posts before this and still asked this question. Did you even bother to look at your engine?? Why don't you re-read the posts again, then go outside and look at your engine, if you still have the same question, go buy a Honda.
  10. Sorry to hear of you lost, was this something that came on suddenly. or has he been ill for awhile? My prayers are with you and your family.
  11. The red 89 Legacy wagon is an AWD 5 speed tranny. All three Legacys still have the trannys in them. A special note, on Sunday and Monday (the last two days) it will be all you can carry out for $30 buck and there will be NO WHEELBARROWS. I didn't ask if that was one trip at a time, or for the whole day.
  12. If you are under age I would suggest that you not drink any alcohol, since we will want to be on good terms with the locals incase we need to use this site again. I don't know, but it also might get the organizers in trouble. The last thing I would want was Zap on my case because of doing something stupid. I've been there, done that, it's not fun.
  13. And GD for the third gen Impreza that started with the bug eyed WRXs. *Some people say there is a gen change between the 96 and 97 model years for Imprezas.
  14. I happen to have a spare parts car (95 Legacy L AWD Wagon) that you can look at to see if it will work.
  15. Yes, the EJ22 was around into the 2000's, but she didn't mention what model of Legacy she has, if it is a GT or an Outback, it will have the EJ25 in it, other wise it will more then likely have an EJ22 in it. The EJ25 Phase I change over happened during the 99 MY, the easiest way to tell is look to see if it is a DOHC (Phase I) or a SOHC (Phase II). I kind of wonder what happened with the EJ25 Phase I, since the EJ20X (fill in either G, 5, or 7 where the X is) has been the main stay of the WRX since day one, it is DOHC and it doesn't have that problem.
  16. I do pretty much the same except for the first part. There are two bolts holding the strut to the knuckle. If you have one with an adjustment bolt (it should be the top one), mark the location of the bolt, I use a small chisel. Then remove the top bolt and loosen the bottom one, this will allow enough movement to remove the axle from the tranny first, then the knuckle.
  17. Don't think that will work in an EA81 or EA82 engine. The EA81T pistons will give you slightly higher compression then the EA82T pistons, and I know they work, I have them in the 85 SW.
  18. Well, now that you have some time, you should set things up to get the axle replaced. The split boot is a temperary fix at best, why waste money on it, when you'll have to replace the axle soon anyhow.
  19. The early 96 Outbacks had the EJ22 in them, the EJ25 wasn't standard in the Outback until 97. As for the swap, without having checked the ECU pinout, I'd say it would be fairly simple. Unless you already have the donor car, I would suggest trying to find a 95 to 99 Legacy with an EJ22 in it, the wiring should be the same then.
  20. Not so fast of the phase I 2.5, this is a 99, and Subaru start the phase II in 99. That being said, it does sound liek a phase I though, the phase to leaks are external, not internal like the pahse I's. It's too bad that you are in Fremont, CA and not the Fremont district in Seattle, then I could come over and do the job for a lot less (about $200 in labor plus parts). I don't know what other things could have happened as a result of the head gasket blowing (it usually only does it at one cylinder), it sounds like you did all the right things. I've know people who have just kept putting water into the radiator and driving for hundreds of miles before they even think about getting something done, and then just replacing the head gasket usually solves their problems.
  21. I have it from good authority that the 200SX is not a smooth installation either. I think part of the problem Tex is having is that he kept the stock hand brake cable and handle stuff and just pulled the cables to the back of the car causing a 180 degree bend to accomplish that. My plan was to use the stock Toyota hand brake setup.
  22. Ok, that's great. I'm lousy with direction, just ask Zap, so I'll let Ed tell you how to get there.
  23. Hey, aren't you the guy that I helped out in Bremerton a few years ago? If so, I can understand why you would have a problem.
  24. I believe that there is a special pricing in effect during the last days of the Everett PAP.
