  1. So, do you think it will pass emissions?? John, how close is Austin's wagon to being completed?? I have a Legacy tranny mount Austin if you need it.
  2. What makes you think that the Impreza brakes are going to be different then the Legacy brakes? They are exactly the same dimensions (2 pot or single pot), they are interchangeable. You will not need to get different wheels. You only need different wheels if you go with the 4 pot calipers. Hey, don't worry about the V6 mistake, I see Subarus listed all the time on the web and in news papers with V6s, so it is pretty common.
  3. That looks pretty bad, a lot of rust and dents. I don't think that I would pay any more then $25 considering that it will have to be shipped.
  4. Well there really wasn't an exact time that the part time was discontinued, but the last year that they were the only 4WD tranny available was 86, in 87 1/2 the Fulltime 4WD trannies started showing up, first in the RXs and as optional trannies for GLs. If it has a carburated engine and 4WD, chances are that it will be a part time 4WD tranny.
  5. They would probably fit, but you couldn't use the stock wheels that you have now, you would need newer WRX or STi wheels to have the clearance.
  6. Gee, let me see, thermosensor, could that be a sensor that senses the temperature? Would the ability to sense temperature cause an engine to heat up? UUMMM, why does the sensor need to sense the temperature? Maybe to adjust the fuel injection to adjust for higher temperatures. So if it adjusts for higher temperatures, would it cause higher temperatures? I think not, maybe the sensor going bad is the result of something else causing the temperature to get too hot causing the thermosensor to fail. What do you think?
  7. The blue RX is my creation, I cut pieces off another hood and grafted them onto the stock hood to make it wide where it needed to be, then flaired them forward to match the original hood. You should be able to order the rubber dam from Subaru, get the one that matches your scoop.
  8. In my humble opinion, there is no comparison, the 05 has the 04 beat in every asspect, especially the GT. Heck even my wife, who has said the 85 turbo wagon she now drives will be her last car, is trying to figure out how we can buy one.
  9. At last a Gen 1 BRAT that I can like. Well done, a man after my own heart. This truly earns the title UltimateBRAT.
  10. Gee, too bad the picture isn't larger then just slightly larger then the thumb nail.
  11. Yep Mick, that's the color. Oh, are these for the inside of the window, or outside?? I wouild prefer inside, keeps vandals from removing them. If these are not inside one, you just need to cut a negative image.
  12. To answer your question, yes there are frequently asked questions, like: Where do I get Redline oil?? What is a LSD?? Can I install a XT6 engine into _______ (fill in the blank)??? What is the tranny ratio of a 8X BRAT??? This is just a few of the more common one, is there a place were these are stored?? Not that I know of. Oh, by the way, the answers are, I buy mine a B&B Auto Parts in Redmond, it is a Limited Slip Differential, yes you can, all it takes is time, money (lots of money), and a friend who is a fabricator, 3.90 unless it is a turbo, then 3.70.
  13. I usually offer something for sale here first knowing full well that I will probably not sell it here.
  14. Hey Mic, how about the first one in gold, not yellow, gold. If you can do it, I'll take two of them.
  15. They still make the EJ22, but not exactly the same as the early Legacys, but just as reliable. In 1994 I believe the EJ22 was an optional engine for the Impreza also. This is not a simple conversion, mechanically it is fairly straight forward, and some parts bolt up like they belong there. If you keep the tranny that came with the EJ22 (which I consider the best bet, since the EA series trannies weren't built for the power of an EJ22), you'll need to be able to fabricate a new tranny mount out of the one that came with the tranny. The driveline will probably have to be shortened (on an EA82 it is 55mm, not sure on an EA81). Now the fun begins, wiring the car so that the engine will run. Depending on if you just want the engine to run or you want full functionality of all the guages too, will determine how difficult of a task this will be. Let me know if you want to go this route, I might be able to help you out.
  16. Thanks for the words on UltimateRX and my new ride.
  17. Well, I got the engine heating problem fixed, called up the inspection place in Union Gap and got another appointment for the 16th at 1:00 PM. Since I have the emissions test passed, I'll probably get the license plates over there so it with be legal driving home.
  18. Try the New Gen section. This sound like one of those thing that you need to hear for yourself to give an oppinion of what it might be.
  19. I'd be willing to bet that it has nothing to do with the bugs, I'll also bet you that you have the green antifreeze in your car. The green stuff and aluminum don't go well together, there is a chemical reaction that causes something like calcium to form, this gets stuck in the small passages of your radiator, after awhile it will creat a blockage. See if you can find someone with one of those laser temperature sensing things and check various sports on your radiator after it is up to operating temp, I'll bet that you find cool spots. Those areas are where water is not going through, and therefore not getting cooled. Eventually this stuff will completely block up your radiator, and you'll over heat you engine. Get a new radiator, abd flush out the engine and replace the green stuff with the organ stuff Prestone makes.
  20. Legacys were introducted in Japan in 1989, there were sold in Austraila and New Zealand that same year. Some of these, I think the RS was one of them, had an EJ20G (turbo) engine. When I built UltimateRX, I said that Subaru could have built that car, they were producing both the RX series car and teh EJ20G engine that I put into it.
  21. I was told that you don't need the second plug, the one on the left in the picture.
  22. My rally set up is a Quikup canopy, a folding lounge chair, a well stocked cooler and being is just the right spot to catch all the action.
