  1. Now if you had been driving on the correct side of the road, this might not have happened. LOL Actually sorry about the accident, damage doesn't look too bad, you lucky the air bags didn't deploy, that would have added about a thousand or more to the cost.
  2. Probably not, but the threaded bolts holes will be there to mount the AWD tranny. My car had AWD but when I put in the JDM drive train, the transmission mounts were different, but the threaded bolts hole were there for the JDM tranny.
  3. The only problem may be as stated, Subaru's are hub centric, that means that the wheel has a center hole that matches the the hub on the axles, if the hole does not match, ie, the hole is too large, the wheel will not seat correctly and can cause damage to the bearings, also if the hole is too small, the wheel will be deformed trying to tighten the lug nuts, this will also cause bearing damage. I have a set of GM 16 wheels that have had the center hole machined to match the Subaru, but to be safe, I am replacing them with Subaru wheels.
  4. Here is the latest from Rally America, http://www.rally-america.com/event.wildwest2006.php?section=results_stage&y=2006%3E+++%0D%0A%09%3Cinput+name%3D&c=&stage=1 . Looks like Matt is 2nd place in PGT, ahead of Jamie. Mark is doing great too. Paul Eklund is in first, ahead of the national guys. I guess I should have looked at the web site closer, that was the results after stage 1. LOL Went back and did a time difference between Matt and Jamie, after 5 events, Matt leads by 5.1 seconds.
  5. Yea, they knew Monday, but we are just finding out about it today. If I were an out of state team coming to compete, I would be pissed big time. I can't believe Rally America did this.
  6. I hope you realize just how funny the title of this thread sounds.
  7. Not likely, the turbo manual tranny has a hydraulic clutch, the N/A ones are cable. It wouldn't be a simple conversion.
  8. Yea, the turbo is larger diameter.
  9. Go ahead, I give it one month before you break something in it, two months if you're lucky.
  10. Well, I haven't really made a committment yet, but it looks like I won't be making it, we never get a tree, I just come for the get together. With the wife feeling better, there are plenty of things around here that were put on hold that need to get done to keep me busy all weekend. Have fun and play safe. Corky
  11. Complete front wiring harness (to include the dash wiring harness) from a Turbo Legacy that the engine came from. It would be a good idea to get the tranny and rear diff too. The Legacy axles from the turbo should work on the Impreza as well.
  12. If the wheels are spinning, he is getting power to the wheels, the tire just aren't getting any traction. You need to notice if all four wheels are spinning, or at least one front and one back (opposite corners) at the same time, that will tell you that you are in AWD. This is kind of a mute point now since the snow is gone, but he could join you this weekend and you could check it out in the mountains. But get better tires first.
  13. Let me know where you can get a "rebuild kit", for a Subaru, I've never seen one, at least not one like you can get for USA engines. You usually have to buy individual pieces. I have seen what was called a rebuild gasket kit, but didn't include the head gaskets. Most people around here get JDM engines and use their US intakes, but still those cost it that same ball park for price. We have "you pull' wrecking yards around here where any engine that you pull is around $200, but I haven't heard of any 2.5s in those yards yet, plus that would probably be in the same condition as the tired engine your aready have. As for the question possed by this thread, it is supply and demand. 1996 was the first year for the EJ25, it wasn't as widely used as in was it 97 and on (which up to 99 was that same engine). Subarus are not on every street corner (well at least not everywhere), so there aren't that many to choose from.
  14. VLSD would not have been an option, but the LSD might have been, I know the JDM WRXs had them. As for the ratio, and this is really going to help, it was either a 3.90 or a 4.11. Now to really muddy the waters, is it a R160 or a R180? Chances are it's a R160, which is different then the ones we ran in the EA series cars. My guess would be that it is a 4.11 R160.
  15. An Outback is a Legacy, an Outback Sports is an Impreza. Since the Forester and Legacy share many components, this book covers both. But as to whether or not it covers the H6, you'd have to run down to a local parts store that carries these books and look closer. Personally, I would never use a Chilton manual unless there is just nothing else available. What year do you have, I have some factory service manuals the both Legacys and Foresters, but they will not be as cheap as the Chilton.
  16. Thanks for all your suggestions and support, I posted this, not to ask questions or solicit suggestions, it was meerly to vocalize a dilema that I find myself in. The new car thing has seemed to subsided for the moment at home, I'm not going to push it, but if I see the Subaru is coming out with a two door, you can bet that I will bring it up again.
  17. A two door hatch would be acceptable, then we could start the Hatch Patrol up again.
  18. The Lotus and the Toyota have been discontinued, the Landcruiser is still a four door, doesn't matter which way the doors open.
  19. Well, apparently someone else does, read on. And like Manarius, if you don't have anything to contribution, don't.
  20. No, Subaru does not currently make a 2 door car that I know of, or would want to import.
  21. You know, one of my pet peeves are people who say, "Get over it." If you don't want to contribute to the discussion, then don't, if you can see why, then don't look. Last time I checked, everyone in the USA has a one time capability of importing a non-USA model car, but you still have to bring it up to minimum safety requirement, and for a Subaru, that means adding USA type bumpers, everything else is already there.
  22. Yes it matters to me, and since I'm the one driving it, that is what really matters. So, since Subaru hasn't made a two door since 2001, and I have a 1996 2dr Impreza with a JDM WRX conversion, that I will still have after the new car gets here, yes it has to be a new car. I was hoping that my next new car would be a Subaru.
