  1. There's two problems with the new B9X, one hasn't been addressed yet: 1) That thing is hideous. I hate the new grill. I'm actually pondering signing my life away next year on an 06 Legacy GT, because I think 06 will be the last year before they bastardize the Legacy with that new grill. 2) It's waaaay too expensive. If my memory serves me correctly, it's starting at like $36k and goes up to $45k. The idea of putting previous Subaru owners in a bigger vehicle to preserve brand loyalty is a good economical decision. To put the price of said vehicle waaay out of the typical Subaru owner's budget is a stupid economical decision.
  2. I always say the country that the plugs and car were made in should be the same. Japanese cars, use Japanese (NGK or Denso) plugs. German/European cars use German/European (Bosch) plugs. American cars use American (Motorcraft, Champion, Delco) plugs. But you can use NGK's in anything really, coz NGK's are the best plug evAr!!!
  3. That makes me wanna do my own EA82T build THAT much more!!!
  4. Yep, had fun, at least once I got my Legacy home... How funny that my battery dies on the way to a Subaru meet . It's not a complete POS, I swear!!! The weather was less than favorable, that's for sure. It was just gloomy and drizzly the whole time. It didn't bother me, but I know most people aren't crazy about it. I'm anxiously awaiting pics, coloradosubarules, can you post a link to your new thread?
  5. www.cvaxles.com charges $55 for their axles and their reputation and guarantee are unsurpassed.
  6. Well, I can't drink... I'm 3 months shy of the magic age It sounds like a good idea... I'll probably go...
  7. Hmmm.... I actually forgot all about it, started school this week, so my mind has been elsewhere... I was actually planning on doing some work to my Legacy this weekend, as I'm having some electrical problems with it. But as close as this is, it wouldn't be in the slightest bit inconvenient to come out... What exactly are we planning to do? Are we gonna sit at that same location for the whole day just talking shop? I don't have a problem with that, I just wanna know... I probably will, but if I do, it'll be in the XT probably.
  8. I've never actually heard Subaru piston slap, but from what everyone else is saying around here, piston slap is waaay louder than just ticking, it's more like a knocking that can wake up your neighbors across the street. If you're in Iceland, you've got to be below 0ºC right now, I'd use a thinner oil, what kind of oil viscosities do you have there?
  9. Okay, so what about those of us with stock stereo setups who are still having idle problems that are so bad they develop into stalling problems :-\
  10. Glad to hear most everything's alright Michael. I would have a mechanic or yourself if you're so inclined, to check out everything on the car, as you can only speculate as to everything that guy could have done to that car in 2 days. My grandfather's 91 Accord was stolen (this was years ago) and the car was recovered on the 30th day, right before insurance was gonna write out a check for it. The car was well-used, needed a paint job, some body panels, other stuff. It drove fine though. 6 months later the transmission took a dump right in the middle of traffic, the mechanic said it was heavily abused, probably by the thief.
  11. Agreed. As long as it's still going, run it till it dies which will hopefully be 300k... Go on a long trip somewhere with a friend driving another car with you
  12. A whole bunch of these ER27 crank pullies are falling apart lately. Hope it didn't go inwards toward the engine and trash everything in sight.
  13. That 2.2 is an interference engine. Beginning in 1997, the EJ22 went from hydraulic lifters, 9.5:1 CR and noninterference... to solid lifters, 9.7:1 CR and interference.
  14. Search my posts and see just how many times I've recommended www.cvaxles.com in all forums in this community... I should be getting paid for all this advetisement!!
  15. It depends on what's been replaced on the engine obviously. If you've replaced oil seals (a lot of us do it ), let's say you've replaced the cam and crank seals from a timing belt change, or let's say you've done a clutch and replaced the rear main in the process, and let's sat you've done valve cover gaskets and the oil pan gasket... you're not gonna leak very much, if any, oil since you have all these new seals. But my problem wasn't any of those seals, it was the valve guide seals apparently... :-\
  16. Subarus rarely have any bottom-end problems period, so that's garbage. When you change your oil, you should do it when the engine and oil is hot, because hot oil will drain better, that should be a universally-known fact. Obviously you're not going to get every last drop of oil out of the engine, you're going to have probably a whole quart sitting in various places in the crankcase, the heads, the oil pump, etc. etc. Your bearings should be coated with enough of a residue, especially after it was just running, to lubricate them upon startup until the oil pressure builds out of the new filter. If you wanted to prime the engine after the oil change, that wouldn't be detrimental in the slightest, knock yourself out. But why would you disconnect the crank sensor??? What about the coilpack
  17. The only time I have ever seen my Legacy burn oil is when I was using partial synthetic oil. I was burning it at up to a quart a week if I pushed the car a bit. Switched to dino and stopped burning it completely, I did nothing else. You all argue all you want. I know where I stand.
  18. I've said it before and I'll say it again: That axle with the torn boot is as good as trash. You don't know how long it's been torn, you don't know what grease has leaked out and you don't know what foreign material has gotten in. Drive the car until that joint is making so much noise you can't hear yourself think. Then just replace the whole axle with a rebuilt one from www.cvaxles.com for $55 with a proven lifetime guarantee and save yourself time and money.
  19. I can't answer specifically, but I do know that people have put WRX 6-disc CD changers in their 90 Legacies, so if you can do that, theoretically, you should be able to put the 95 CD player in yours too...
  20. It's no big fancy procedure to burp your coolant system. Just take the black plastic screw out of the passenger side of the radiator and fill the radiator until you see coolant coming out of that hole. Then put the screw back in and put the rad cap on. Done it this way dozens of times...
  21. I thought this thread would be a fine place to ask: Where are all these people getting 87 RX 3-doors when the 1987 Full-Line brochure doesn't even have them?? It only has the RX 4-door...
  22. The Indiana plant opened in 1990. I'm actually thinking my Legacy might be one of the very first cars to come out of that plant, since all 1990 Legacies are Japanese-made, and my Legacy is one of the first 91's, prod date of 7/90...
  23. Can you get this dealer to get oil coolers for EA82's?
  24. Domestic = I don't care what anyone says. The quality isn't there. Yes my Legacy was one of the first Subarus to be built in Indiana, and I wish it was built in Japan.
