Attn Washington Members! Snow!!!!!
Turbone replied to samo's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
A couple of guys in a EA82 wagon got on the news last night, they were at Mt. Baker/Stevens pass. Showed em pushing a little snow around, it was about 10in deep. Btw, Crystal Mt opens this weekend -
It could look something like this? It only has a EA81 in it tho

using rear diff up front (T-case Conversion)

If I can remember I will take some pics between the rain squalls tomorrow. Mine is a little different than Adams, and it has the lifted engine. -
Sorry Nipper, my bad. Gots to read with my glasses on But if the engine has good oil pressure, why change it? Just throw a new reseal on it and call it good. If the other stuff isnt leaking, dont mess with it. I've found that sometimes when replacing seals that dont leak, end up leaking after replacement.

help leaking coolant under the thermostat housing.

Your right, it is a PITA to change. What you need is a pair of real long needle nose pliers, maybe with a bend on the end. This will allow you to get the new hose onto the fitting thats under the intake. Otherwise, your alternative is to lift the intake and replace the hose :-\ Dont forget the spring clip on the end of the hose. -
The small hole is part of the casting of the block, but should have a dab of sealant to make sure the oil pump is sealed good. As for replacing the oil pump everytime you do the timing belts? Totally un-necessary, oil pumps should last at least 100K. Just my opinion.

Calling John Bloom (again)
Turbone replied to NoahDL88's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No, not all look like that. There are some of us that have a sub frame built above the x-member that the engine mounts to. It brings it back up to the original position, and out of the water and muck. -
Theres only 2 Brats with a ER27. Adam NDJ and Archemtis. Contact them if you want the skinny on the swap.

Hey, wheres the engine? All it looks like there, is a intake and alternator sitting on the x-member Oh, I forgot, some of you with lifts have the engine still on the x-member :-p Sub-frame baby Glad you got the tranny in, now when you coming out? -
Wow, from the sound of it, its a wonder some of you ever got a window out in one peice I have got a few out by using a utility knife or a fillet knife. Its skinny enough to get in between the glass and metal. I have even used a propane torch to heat the knife. Once I get most of the glue cut, especially the corners, I use a hood release cable (junkyard tools are great) to finish the cut. If you want to do this alot I recommend buying a very expencive tool that cuts the glue like butter. It takes about 10min to get a window out using one. A used one might cost a couple bills

XT stereo wiring question
Turbone replied to Ever Victorious's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
White is constant Lavender/yellow is switched The antenna could be green/white or gray/white If you still need more info, I can scan the page for you. -
Theres alot of things you can do in the back of a wagon when theres no seats in it. Nice touch with the carpet too Some mood lighting and your set

No, I had a Sony deck in it. But it was in the car when I bought it. It doesnt have a wiring adapter either, the sub wiring is straight back from the deck with 12g RCA. The door speakers are actually wired to the stock harness. I think the 89's might be wired differently because I didnt have any problem once I figured out which were the correct wires. Each one had its own ground wire. I wasnt looking forward to running new wire into the doors :-\

Mykeys Toy gave me some links to some places and products. I did some (alot) of research on different makes and I came up with the Kenwood. The subs are off brand, I got them from Mykeys and the amp is a cheapo I got off Ebay, used. The Sony 3ways were in the car when I got it. But I think I have the right combo (for now) and its sounding pretty good. I've been burning about 5-6 CD's a night, I have to record them to my HD first from the cassette player. I went and bought a nice Onkyo system off of Craigslist (Amp, Cassette, 5 CD changer) for just $65. I've been making some good scores lately from Craigslist

Calebz has this setup. You might PM him for more details, or he might respond to this thread

I was wondering if anyone would recognize the song. Yup, its an old Jeff Beck album. I've been burning some of my old cassettes to CD so I can listen to them in the car. I got stuff from the early 70's

My old stereo finally broke down and I had to purchase a new one. Got it on Ebay for $100 less than the store ($250 @ Circuit City). Its a Kenwood EZ500, flip down face and a bunch of other goodies. Got it going into 2 10in subs powered by a 250W amp and 2 Sony 3ways in the doors. The system rocks! I thought my old one sounded ok This blows it away I know all you younger folks get into this stuff, I hope you can appreciate us "older" guys like good systems too. Btw, the pocket above it is not stock. Theres usually a equalizer there for the stock radio. I got the pocket from a EA81 GL and made a faceplate for it. Can never have enough storage

Dave, would this cause it to stall when you are coasting?
-
I would try and find a stock ECU for it and see if that fixes the problem. Not to many early Soobs have had the ECU chipped from my knowledge.
