Newbaru-XT strut conversion Q's
Turbone replied to Racerfab's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Dont regular EA82 front and rear struts work on a XT? I thought they did Theres 2 types, adjustable and non. Non adjustable would make it lower, of course. The XT6 needs to have the Legacy or better struts for the front, but can use EA82 for the rear. -
RX has me on my last nerve... (UPDATE)
Turbone replied to Subarutex's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, take them out for a ride when it rains (if it ever does in LA). They will change thier tune -
So your the one that got that. I looked at it a couple weeks ago and was going to offer him something lower than what he was asking, but glad you got it. As for the swap, just pull out your old one and drop in the new one. There is no difference. You will have to remove the flexplate and change to MT flywheel and clutch, just remove it from your old engine after you take the engine out. I'll take your old engine if you dont want it, but I'm to busy to help you out with the other stuff.

Off to Australia for me?
Turbone replied to SakoTGrimes's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Take the vacation first. You may want to have a job lined up before immigrating, from what I heard. And dont forget, their laws are alot different than ours. -
I got 3 speeding tickets in my first Soob. 82 GLF, all stock. The thing was just to much fun to drive fast My last 2wd was another GLF, but this one had a Weber on it. I got rid of it before the blue light special got me Now, my lifted hatch can actually light the 30in tires up in 1st low FWD. It also has a Weber. And a divorced t-case.

Turbone replied to AnexRX7's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Go register over at XT6.net. This is the place for XT info. -
Might have to have the State Patrol check vins and stuff to see if they are stolen (duh). They should be doing this on a regular basis anyways. but back on topic. If I can get my Sis to babysit, I'm there. Jaws, if you go, shoot me a PM or email. It would be cool to caravan up there. Besides, I've been there before

83 Sua ECS came on, doesn't start
Turbone replied to oldude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds like it could be the pickup coil inside the disty. It can be replaced but its easier to replace the whole disty, especially if you have been "diagnosed" with shaft play. Depending on the mileage of the car, its quite common to have shaft play in the disty. There should be someone in your area that would have one (Moosens). -
Who else knows what a Recovery Boiler is?
Turbone replied to 4x4mudrat's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I was once a Maintenance Electrician for a Salmon Cannery on Kodiak Is, Alaska. We used a Large boiler for the Autoclaves (3). It was my job (initiation) to clean the boiler tubes prior to the plant starting up. Now that was a fun job I would assume that a recovery boiler would be a tank that holds blowby? -
For the divorced transfer case guys; You can take a AC comp and run a pulley setup off of the pass side diff axle stub, with a bracket to hold the pump. Just put the T-Case in N and engage the FWD on the tranny. Lumpycam had this setup on his Bratch and worked pretty good from what I heard.

A couple thoughts here. I have heard recently there are some offroaders using diving tanks for air supply. These can hold up to 2ooolbs of air, should be enough for several big tires. And they are aluminum, so you have less weight and no compressor to deal with. The inverters are fairly cheap and compact, if you get a good one you can run a small coffee maker :-p Really need a bigger alt for running high amp power tools.

It could be the rock shield on the inside of the brake rotor. Or a rock stuck in the wheel maybe.

Scuse me.....The only crack I'm on is when I bend over:eek:

Freebiemobile made it home... (long)
Turbone replied to Ever Victorious's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Not without modifying the seat brackets. But its been done by several people here, I'm sure a search will come up with the topic. Or it might even be in the USRM. -
Mmmmm, peanutbutter cookies

Shouldnt need to take the rad out to get to the belts.

so, how many subaru manuals do you have?
Turbone replied to Snowman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Theres 2 for 85, 4 for 86, 4 for the 88 XT/XT6. So there might be only 4 for 88. -
Ditto that

Why dont you just make one? All the parts are available, altho its a little hard to source the Dual Intake. But it can be done. And I looked real hard, but couldnt find anything on the brochure saying it had a LSD and D/R.
