Info on the WA "Freebie" Soob, need help
Turbone replied to Ever Victorious's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you replace the sparkplugs, you can squirt a little ATF in the cylinders and rotate the crank a few times. -
so, how many subaru manuals do you have?
Turbone replied to Snowman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think Qman got a few from Corky, but he already had quite a collection. Me, I just have a few........ -
It depends on how much you drowned the engine. If its real bad, pull out the sparkplugs and crank the engine over to get any water out of the cylinders. Definatly change the oil and maybe check the intake hoses for water too. If you dont have extensions on your diff air breathers you might want to drain and refiil those.

Door panel removal for speaker install
Turbone replied to THE ROSS's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The major component that needs to come off is the arm rest. Then remove the little screw that holds the plastic trim inside the door handle and lock, this has little clasps top and bottom holding it to the handle so it may take a small screwdriver to get it out. Then from the bottom corners, give the panel a quick sharp pull. This will pull the plastic pins out of the door, these are all around the bottom and half way up the sides. Once you get it loose, you need to pull the bottom out and lift up to get the rubber trim on top out of the door. -
Just would like say to all Subaru's owners.
Turbone replied to kristiangl10's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Welcome to America and to the USMB. We have a large population of Subaru owners in your area, if you need help with anything just let us know. -
Get down underneath the back of your car and wipe the tag clean thats on the back of the diff (most the time they are covered in grease and road grime). It will say LSD, 3.7 and with part #, etc.

ultimate subaru road trip!!
Turbone replied to PeterD's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Someone up front of a caravan needs to have a good, beefy front brushguard. Need something for the moose to bounce off of(or your Soob ). I've always wanted to do the Alkan, and this is starting to get me interested also. Altho I dont think its possible for me in the near future but down the road like 2 summers from now. Maybe. -
Bummer, eh? Looks like its totaled too. Sell the parts here, and let it live on

ultimate subaru road trip!!
Turbone replied to PeterD's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
If you dont have much experience with winter driving, I wouldnt recommend doing it. It could certainly be deadly :-\ -
The DL is the base model, no frills or options. I have only heard of swapping the EA71 pistons to a EA81 to increase the compression ratio.

Removing rear seat from ea81 wagon
Turbone replied to stinky's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Heres what the 82 FSM says (Note-Any wierd wording is Japanese related). Turn forwardly bushing on the left side of the body to disengage it from the hinge pin, and remove it from the body by pulling it forward toward the center of the body(I assume this is the pin cover). Pull out hinge pin on right side out of the hole on the bracket in the right side of the body, while bringing back rest to the extreme left end. Bring back rest to the right and pull out the left hinge pin. Simple, eh? -
So ...you going to take it in and have them change the coil and fuel filter too
-
Must have been my shadow, I was thinking of going but didnt make it Theres a 4dr EA81 and a 81 Hatch and some EA82's (they were there last week).

What should 92' Loyale oil pressure be?
Turbone replied to Slagathor1's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The pump is no where near wore out. Your oil pressure is common when warmed up and most will drop to zero at idle. -

Sure its not the drain for the AC? -
85 Brat will not change gears
Turbone replied to CAMOBRAT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Tom, I dont think this is possible. If the shaft didnt go into the pilot bearing, the tranny would not mate up to the bellhousing. I would remove the cable from the clutch fork and check the movement of the cable, it needs to move freely in and out. -
85 Brat will not change gears
Turbone replied to CAMOBRAT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Try readjusting the cable. If this doesnt work the clutch might have been installed incorrectly. Was it done by a shop or by you? Its possible to install the clutch disc backwards and it will not shift worth a %#^%$ if so. -
The axle may not be seating all the way into the hub. I have also heard of some hubs having short splines in them.

Packing strap (metal) is good for making a slimjim Dont ask...

MAJOR brake problem... (after install)
Turbone replied to Kostamojen's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You may just have to put up with it until they break in. Find a good hill and go down it a few times, or (I hate to say it) ride the brakes for a few miles and see if they still grind. If it keeps doing it and you cant stand the noise, you may think about getting different brake pads. -
Weird xt6 Steering Fix, Missing Fuel Filter
Turbone replied to gtrbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You can email the pics to me, I can post them. I will take a look at my XT6 in the morn, I'll be able to tell you about the fuel lines then. Believe it or not, I'm sicker than a dog and dont want to go outside and look right now :-\
