RX approaching 'ultimate' status....
Turbone replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
In order to reach full "Ultimate" status, you need to transplant a EJ20G into it (like Corky's original Ultimate) -
Hmmm, that sure looks like Qmans RallyX Brat Heres a little artic of my old Hatch up at Kanaskat a couple years ago.

You can try and adjust the bottom latch, loosen it and drop it down some.

transmission options for my new XT Turbo
Turbone replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I thought all XT6's were AWD? AT or MT. But you can select between 2wd and 4wd on the 4EAT, just pull the fuse Or if you want, rig a switch up. Plus the duty solenoid c trick too. -
Front Windshield.... (COMPLETED) reply
Turbone replied to Indrid cold's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
According to Sika's web site, the main function of the WS is to keep passengers in the car. If people are belted up, this means its a secondary safety device (IMO). Being a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT for several years I have seen both sides of the WS, so to speak. I have seen what happens to people that are not belted in when a accident occurs, and its not pretty. The reason I'm saying this, is that its the seatbelts that save your life, not neccesarily the WS. Theres a chance of ejection from any window or door during a collision if you are unbelted. Indrid, your link to their site isnt correct, this is the link to thier safety page. Safety -
Need Oil Pump Help Badly!!!
Turbone replied to Bobby_boucher's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
As far as I know, theres is no aftermarket pump for the EA81/82 cars. Bobby, what and where did you find that pump so cheap? -
Just bought an '87. Need some info.
Turbone replied to xjosh's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Theres a strap for a latch of the bottom seat, its in the center and might be down in the crack. May have to stick your hand down there and fish around for it. The oil leakage is common for a Soob, yours could be the PS lines, try tightening them. I would also consider changing the timing belts, they need changed every 60K. Done worry about the engine if one breaks, its a non interference engine. It will just leave you stranded -
Try not to be so ungrateful when you ask a obvious question. Try and get some more sleep

How do you read codes on an EA82 carbed
Turbone replied to oldblue2's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I did a simple search (reading codes) and I came up with this. Check engine light demystified -

It might be a good idea to get a new rad cap. -
2 Radiators in 6 months? What's up
Turbone replied to erikvr's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Explain "going through". Like, whats happening to them? -
I know a couple of years ago somebody here was talking about someone they knew ran a EA82 in a Score race. I tried to find it in the results, but I have a feeling it was DNF.

The green connectors together for test mode. Then find the black connectors, this is the dealer check mode. Once you check these, connect both together, I think this will clear the codes. If it doesnt, just disconnect the battery overnight.

Crank Seal Replacement 93 Loyale 4x4
Turbone replied to SparkSVT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
He's talking about the crankshaft. If theres any irregularities on the shaft, the seal cannot do its job. If the oil was never changed in the car it would certainly put grooves on the pump shaft. Is this a crate motor? -
The plugs are under the steering column next to the ECU. Need to connect the green plugs to read them. ECU Codes

Front Windshield.... (COMPLETED) reply
Turbone replied to Indrid cold's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I will be doing the same on my 86 wagon soon, I had to buy the sealant for mine :-p I did not read the tubes but have never heard of heating them up prior to use. I cant get to the tubes right now either, they are in my toolbox which is at school which is locked up tight for the quarter break right now. Have you read the directions on the tube yet? -
Crankshaft Pully MADNESS!! 87 EA82T
Turbone replied to NuclearBacon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Another tidbit. The XT6 has the same dampner pulley. I had one go out on my first XT6 and had a heck of a time finding another. But, at one time, I had a XT turbo in my possesion. It just so happened to have the solid pulley. BUT the belts are different on the XT6, just one big wide belt compared to the 2 on the XT. So a belt change is needed when using a XT pulley on the XT6. -
Yes, there is The Duty Solenoid C is the item that needs to be tapped, using a switch of sorts. Here is the link from XT6.net Duty Soleniod C

ARGHHHHHHHHH!!!! Insert explitive here.
Turbone replied to subarunewbie2005's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The FP is only supposed to operate when the key is turned to the start position, not the on position. Run a ground wire to the pump and see if the car will start.
