Look up Ross, he's in your Hemisphere Our cost of living is quite different from yours, not to mention the dollar. One in that condition, here, would fetch up $1500. Maybe more, maybe less.

How do I identify my engine?
Turbone replied to krankitup's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The engine is a EA81. It has a stamp on the left side of the block down by the bottom of the disty. -
I was at a Pap today where there was a XT6 with a rad still in it. I was getting ready to remove it after I got the fans and stuff off and I looked down at the bottom. Where both fans had been the cooling fins were seperating from the rods and falling out. I didnt even remove it the rest of the way

Update: Spotted: XT6 AWD ... Q's
Turbone replied to SuBrat84's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
From your description of the car now, I would say jump on it before its gone! $400 is an acceptable price for one in this condition. Hopefully the problem is obvious when you get it home, sometimes XT6's can be a bear to troubleshoot -
Connie, I just sent your box of goodies off - you better keep that Coupe! Dont worry about the $ right now, send it when you can. And I'll see what I can find in the local PAP for a water pump. Hang in there babe

The End of an era for the NY/NE area
Turbone replied to moosens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Your right Paul, this chapter has closed. But another is just starting. I had a friend die while diving, on my anniversery, May 6th(no, I wasnt with him - his wife was). I went to the funeral a week ago Sat and had to go alone, my wife is in a Nursing Home right now. So, your not alone Bro. It seems ike the older we get, the more we have to deal with(death, etc). But we have to move on and make the best of what we have. I hope to make it to the East Coast someday, and I want to see the "Reformed Subaru Church". Take care bud. -

The Brat stuff should fit a Gen 2 but dont take my word 100%. The XT6, well if they dont know the condition of it I wonder why their asking $500? If its got a blown engine (check for a bad HG or Timing Belt), I would say less - maybe $300. In your parts its going to be hard to find parts for it. Altho you have all the goodies there for the 5 lug swap Add up all the parts at their cost if you were to pull all the parts, and then what they would take for the whole car and go from there. A salvage title is ok. -

The seats are different, but being a non Brat owner, someone else will have to clarify on the dynamics of the seat -

Turbone replied to NorthWet's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey Pat, I know your Brat Buddies would just love to give you all these goodies, but you still need to pay for shipping. I have alot of tan interior stuff, unfortunatly the dash I had spent time outdoors, but lots of other stuff that doesnt need to be shipped. And you know what my prices are like -

5spd tranny swap BIG PROBLEMS!! revised!
Turbone replied to richieroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its a little tough to diagnose car sounds over the computer :-p I would say jack up all 4 tires (safely) and run the car thru the gears and see if it makes the same noises. I've heard front hubs that were stripped out make sounds lke this, but the tire wont move if thats the case. If you had a issue with the driveshaft scraping, I would be looking more into that. Also on how much you tweeked the linkage, it could cause gears to no match. Btw, what flywheel and clutch did you use? Are the bell housing and tranny mated together tightly? -

Yup, all EA81 dashes interchange. Congrats on the Brat, Pat Me thinks I'm the only one in the area that hasnt had one, yet -
trouble deciding... keep which car? brat or imp
Turbone replied to Ratty2Austin's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The Imp is probably cheaper to maintain and alot easier to drive on long trips. The Brat will nickle and dime you forever, you know that, not to mention the salt would kill it in a few years You might be able to get a bike carrier for the back of the Imp. The Imp can also be fitted for a/c, shouldnt be to hard to do. -
5spd tranny swap BIG PROBLEMS!! revised!
Turbone replied to richieroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Make sure the diff and tranny ratios match. The tranny is a 3.9, theres a tag on the back of the diff telling the ratio. Mick is spot on with the 4wd selector, if its inbetween 4LO and 4HI I dont think it will go anywhere. Even if the driveline is tight I dont it would bind stuff up that bad. Can you get it into 2wd? -
What about RHD rigs for Postal Work? There might be a good market for those. *Edit* I just went to the web site and got my question answered.
-
Its possible, but I cant write in stone yet. We'll have to see how this weekend goes.
-
Man, sure looks alot different from when I had it  Cant wait to see it on the trail. We'll see if it can keep up with my new one :brow: Altho it looks like your Hatches little brother

GRRRR!! The Coupes driving me INSANE!
Turbone replied to Bucky92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Now now, just because you got a car that has low miles on it doesnt mean theres not alot of years on it. Who knows, that could be the original WP. At least they are cheap Btw, got your goodies boxed up and ready to go -
He built his before WCSS6, maybe early last year or sooner.

You better strip it down to the sheet metal then, they are lead sleds. If it wasnt for the 6cyl, it would be like any other 80's Soob (slooooow).
