I bet the smoking is from dry valve seals. After you get it running ok, they should seal up again (hopefully). Maybe a can of carb cleaner will help out, also I would definatly get a can of Seafoam for the tank with some fresh gas. -
Once you get rolling its not to bad, its the first several feet pulling out of a parking spot that makes you grunt.

That broken wire could be a ground wire. Where's it coming from? -

That original key case is a real find. Nice car Connie, makes me want another Coupe (4wd this time). -
Should it be this hard?....

It could mean that your radiator is clogged. Feel the bottom of it when your running hot, if its cold, thats your problem. -

First of all, you need to clean all the electrical connections, even to the alternator. The wire to the tranny could be for a temp sensor (AT?). The other wire below the coil is for the RFI and isnt needed at this time (radio frequency interupter, static blocker). Mainly clean all the charging terminals and the grounds and the secondary ignition system (coil, etc) -
Well, thats up to you. Dont wait to long to do it, you may forget. Almost all the plugs in there will only go one way, to one plug. Just take your time and try not to get frustrated.

I'll see what I can do Corky, but the wife is in the hospital again :-\

Well, whats the name of the Shop? Or is that the name of it?

The only thing unique about the XT6 system (besides it being electric) is that you must use the Subaru fluid designed for it. And its a very simple set up. A electric motor getting a signal from a magnet on the steering column, turns the pump on and off. Thats it. Well, that might be a little over simplified, but thats the jist of it.

Unfortunatly, I have a funeral to go to that day :-\

Nonono, remember what we talked about? You owe your favorite neighbors a wake up call -
You should try steering an XT6 when the Cybrid goes out Why would you go to all the trouble of doing the lines, when you could just swap the rack and havE it done?

Uh, you said it was driveable. Whats it running like? Inquiring minds want to know -
It doesnt matter where you come from. When you know better to ask such a lame question about running a PS rack without fluid, its just common sense that it will ruin the rack. Once you remove the lines, every time you turn the wheel more fluid gets pumped out of the rack. But hey, its your car

RX's without body kits. Any trend behind it?

Mines the same way, no side or rear skirts. Doesnt really matter to me tho, its not the skirts that make the car :-p -

No, not bad. I thought it sounded better than any fart can No problem with lack of back pressure? -
how do I get in that darn place??
Turbone replied to erikvr's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well, theres 2 ends to the cable (duh). One end goes to the top of the tranny and the other is on the back of the cluster. You need to pull the cluster to get to the cable. -
Shouldnt be rings with only 32K on it. I say do a tune up and adjust the carb, then see how it runs.

Just to clarify about the proper marks. These would not be the timing marks. The marks you want are just about 1/8 turn CCW to the timing marks. Line up the middle mark to the pointer and then set the drivers side cam mark to the 12 o'clock position. Once the belt is installed, rotate the crank pulley until the drivers side cam mark is at 6 o'clock. Then make sure the passenger side cam is at 12 o'clock and install that belt. Should be good to go then, simple enough?

When you left my place today and hit the main road, I could hear you hit the go pedal. For some reason, when I heard it, the first thing I thought of was a racing MG (on steroids)
