Check the diff fluid. Theres a dip stick for it, passenger side I believe. Then check the fluid for the tranny. This I think you need to remove a plug on the side to check, theres 2. One to use to fill and the other for draining. I'll go out and check mine to make sure. *Update - Thats the skinny. You will have to jack the car up and the plug is on the drivers side. The fluid should be up to the top hole. It takes 85W or 75W-90W.

Intermittent fire.......again
Turbone replied to 82GLF's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just for the heck of it, try and short the terminal with the black wire of the starter to the postive post right below (on starter). This should turn the car over and (hopefully) make it run. Just want to rule out a ignition switch prob. It will spark alot, just a warning. Make sure its not in gear either. *Edit - Make sure the ign switch is on. -
Very simple headlight question
Turbone replied to pyromanic's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
This is so you wont run the battery down if you leave the lights on with the ignition off. Ignition off, lights off. -
Darn, thought I sent you one back. All I really need is the 6 part of the decal. If you cant do that, send me the XT6 part. Any type will do, lines or not.
-
That looks more like a dealer option than a factory one. But nice to have! Got the flashers on the fender too?
-
I'll take 5, please
-
Once you drive a 6, you'll have a hard time driving anything else. There was another post from a couple days ago about somebody buying a XT6, might look at that. Also, over at XT6.net you will find all the info you need there.

EA81 Auto's... suggested fluids etc...
Turbone replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I suggest pulling the gov off and giving it a good going thru. I think any name brand AT fluid would be ok, but it takes alot if you do a complete change - 6.3qrts. -
As far as I know, only the XT's had them here (80's). and Ross, you may want to proof read your posts

(prizeless) Contest: Guess the Problem
Turbone replied to NorthWet's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well, I already asked if there was water in the oil. So I guess the next question is...............Is there oil in the water? What is this? A trick question? And I also assume the HG is bad, but the intake manifolds could be also. -
Same here, had someone say it looked like a Prelude. He was promptly educated

Man, I hate it when I show up late. I missed all the foto ops Nice pics Jared. -
If your lucky, the air suspension is still working. If not, it can be changed over to standard suspension. Make sure the power steering has the correct fluid in it, only Subaru OEM fluid is supposed to be in it. As with any Soob being bought, check the oil pressure - the pump might need a new seal kit. Most leaks up front are due to bad crank seals and cam seals (and once in a while - a leaky oil pump). Find out when the timing belts were changed last, if its not known go ahead and change them. I think the XT6 sometimes gets a bad rap, but I think its from people that dont own one. These cars, IMHO, KICK A$$. If you have ever driven the older ones (70's/80's 4cyl) this car makes them look like dogs

Unusual 14" alloy wheel--looking for a fourth wheel
Turbone replied to edrach's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Mick, what wheels do you have? I have 3-4 different 13" alloys. -
The compressor maintains a pressure of 109 to 137psi in the tank. The air shocks usually have around 120psi in them. I dont understand your 2nd question

i got problems and i dont know what to do
Turbone replied to espey_16's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Start with a fresh battery, change the fuel filter(s). This should help it start and idle a little better, then adjust the timing. A complete tune-up is highly recommended also. -
Thats probably why most of us havent had that problem

Head for the wrecking yard and look for a low mileage fan, the one you have is toast.

Good for you! I've been thinking about it for a couple years now. Will make offroading a little easier in my opinion. Are you going to mate the intake to the EA81 block? I was thinking of using EA81T heads/FI setup on a NA block, plus the other hardware needed(dont forget the fuel pump). -

Any of the Subaru gang on Speed channel tonight?
Turbone replied to moosens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes, they made a big deal of the popular bike builders. OCC was there and a few others too. They did show the Japanese Drifting team cars. It does look like Barry uses his own products, eh? -
