  1. The 4wd tank has a depression in it for the rear diff. I think its a few gallons more, dont have a manual in my lap some folks.
  2. Before and after pics of my almost perfect, almost 300K Hatch. I still get a tear in my eye when I look at the pics
  3. The tanks are different, but with your lift you might be able to do it without problems. Or you could get a EA81 tank from a 2wd car. 85sub4wd, I wouldnt put to much faith in your Haynes manual. They have been known to be wrong, on quite a few occasions.
  4. Pic of the skid plate and underneath. I'm thinking of adding more.
  5. Your fingers are probably going to fall off The older I get , the less time I spend out in the cold working. Cant wait to get the garage built
  6. Theres only 4 bolts that hold the seat down. 5min and its out. Where the lever goes back on the outside rail, it has a square pin that fits into dogs on the rail. Its most likely tweaked or dirty. There is also a spring from the rear/bottom of the seat, to the front hump on the floor. This is supposed to bring the seat forward automatically when you pull the seat back lever. You need to release the spring from the floor when you remove the seat.
  7. Not all EA82 4wd trannies are 5 spd. There are 2 types of AT's, the 3AT and the 4EAT.
  8. Check all grounds related to the ignition circuit. Also under the steering column/under dash cover on the right side, is the ign plug/connector. Its usually pink, this sometimes gets hot and will melt the plug, causing a bad connection.
  9. Yes, this is the car in question. She ran for a little while after this but then the electrical(and engine) went to Davy Jones Locker
  10. All I can remember is Jamie Lee Curtis doing her bedroom dance
  11. I had a 82 Hatch that was just ready to turn over 300K when I got t-boned. I had replaced the engine with another used one about 15k prior to that. The car was like new and the original owner made yearly trips to Whistler, Aspen and a couple other Ski digs.
  12. Freedster, just a few things to clarify. You have the Hatchback. The 3dr with hatch is a EA82 model. Same engine size, different configuration. Also, you should have front disc brakes already. All you need is the rear discs from a 4wd EA82 (85-89) Turbo (and sometimes GL-10). The Impreza suspension/brake upgrade is much easier on the EA82 models.
  13. Check the grounds in the engine compartement. Also may need to remove the dash panel to clean the grounds on the back of it. Check plugs that go into the back of panel also.
  14. Dragonlee, yours is a EA82 engine. It has timing belts, OHC and a llittle more HP than the EA81's do. Also came with a 5spd dual range tranny, which can be mated to a EA81 engine(with a few mods).
  15. The 2 top pics are what we refer to as "Hatches/Hatchbacks". You just have a plain jane Wagon. And I was always taught to question authority
  16. I'm a little confused, and a bit surprised that the good Dr. didnt ask (unless I missed something). Is this 88GL Hatch a EA81 or EA82? Does it have the small hatch or the big window hatch? The EA82 GL is usually called a 3 door. The 5 lug will work on EA82's, but its a real PIA to do it on a EA81. Rear disc's can be gotten from all EA82 turbo'ed cars, and its practically bolt on.
  17. Mine has a 8in lift and the T-case fits snug. I might be able to take some pics this weekend and get them posted. Someone wanted to see the skid plate on the front.
  18. Gary (All Talk), Qman sold the 3 door his son had about a week ago. I agree, a 2 door hard top is a grand idea. I hope you do it.
  19. Its one of the guys from down under. Dont recognise the Brat tho.
  20. The wheel are 15x8 Modern's from Les Schwabs.
  21. Indeed. I would be expecting a big mess under the car sometime soon, something like a water baloon popping
