  1. Yea, I looked in your album and its not there. Can you give us a better link?
  2. Hmm, never heard of it yet. But its been known for a long time by only a few people that you can use Sodium Silicate to seal HG leaks. You can get it a good Pharmacy, or look around on-line for chemistry stuff. I wonder if this is what they are using?
  3. Its most likely you have some junk in the linkage. Get under the car and check to see if theres a rock or stick or other stuff in the tranny tunnel.
  4. Hmmm, I can weigh my Hatch tomorrow. Theres a scale about a mile away.
  5. I think Qman had some info on this, maybe if we can keep the thread on the top he will see it and respond. Or you could just email him
  6. In hoping not to sound to stupid here, but if you had a locker front end, how would you be able to steer? I know what happens to my rear end with the welded diff when I turn, so I can imagine what a locked front end would be like
  7. Timing belts, cam seals, main seal, water pump, oil pump kit. That should do it for the front. Might think about the rear main seal. Intake manifold gaskets. I guess you should just get the full gasket set and go from there
  8. Ditto's here on the Weber dieseling. Havent bothered yet to remedy it tho. I will try the timing and idle speed, and maybe flush the top end. Dave, sorry, but your suggestion is not a very penny wise idea right now. I believe the cost of high octane gas is over $2 a gallon in most places now And the Regular isnt to far behind
  9. Theres a screen on th end of a tube or hose. The manual doesnt specify or show it. You might have blown the screen off, or whatever was blocking the end. Is it still clogged after blowing air in it? The fuel seperator does just that.
  10. Thats a little guy, but it does fit nicely.
  11. I think you were right the first time with the engine type. So far I know of no one that has been pushing a EA81T at 18 to 22lbs of boost. That sucker would go thru the roof 14 to 16lbs is even pushing it. If you have plastic covers on the front of the motor, its a EA82T. Its a OHC with belts running the cams.
  12. The disty could be a tooth off. Or maybe you have the wires on the disty wrong? With the cap off, the rotor should be pointing at 11 o' clock (TDC). Rotation is counterclockwise, and the cylinders are numbered; 3 4 1 2 And the firing order is 1,3,4,2 Check this and report back, eh?
  13. Northguy, sorry to hear about the ordeal. I think UPS is even worse. They may get it there at the time they said it would be, but its to the wrong addy Brian, any Soob you saw in Ak when you were in school is long gone, eaten by the rust bunnies.
  14. I think everyone is a little gun shy after your last episode
  15. I replace the one in my Mazda truck every year with a new one
  16. Over on the New Gen Forum, this is a popular topic. And all the signs that you are having leads up to only one thing, unfortunatly. A blown HG
  17. Timing is BTDC 15 +/- 3 deg @ 800rpm And just plug the disty pressure hose. The timing marks are on top of the crank pulley.
  18. Well, just a suggestion from past experience from owning Turbos. If at any time theres a hint of a leak, check every hose on that sucker. If it feels weak, replace it. I found a bad rad output neck once, the thing was almost completely collapsed from the clamp (previous owner). Run it till its at operating temp, then when your under the hood grab the trottle linkage and give a few tugs. Look for squirting coolant from hoses, specifically the turbo cooling hoses.
  19. Ah, back from your first road trip, eh? You should being seeing more than a few Soobs out on the Roads of America
  20. Yes, I think you need to see what his other auctions are. Vynil stickers for everything and everyone. Get a grip guys
  21. Well, that sucks. Hope things work out for you. My hatch is not a daily driver. Maybe if you put some different tires on it, but it wouldnt look right :-\
  22. Well, from what your describing, the gauge is the culprit. I've never adjusted one by tweaking the needle, but what have you got to lose? I have replaced all the gauges in the cluster of a EA81 before tho, not to difficult.
  23. Well, if you take the old belts to the parts store it will help them to replace it. Also, them knowing the specs of your car will give them a clue also.
