EA81T upgrades and mods question, attn. Skip
Turbone replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The EA81T and the EA82T are alot different and simaliar in some ways. You can do more mods to the EA82T. But to answer some of you questions along with Skip, 1. Some of the goodies that Skip uses are EA82T exclusive, but some may work for the EA81T. Like the boost pressure valve (which I think is adjustable boost control), dash controlled disty timing is for advancing the timing to help avoid detonation. 2. I think right now, the XT6 flywheel is the lightest "stock" one around, altho I'm not sure if anyone has put one on a EA81T yet. I'm not sure if theres a diff between the 2wd or 4wd EA81's. You can use the EA82 and lighten it some like Skip did. Then again, it was for a EA82T. 3. To make a LSD a 3.90 ratio, you need to remove the guts and install it into a 3.90 diff with the ring and pinion. I believe the procedure is in the USRM. 4. Max boost for a EA81T? Who knows? Stock is 7psi. I would think the safe limit would be around 12psi, but I could be wrong. There is no fuel cutout on the EA81T that I'm aware of. There is an Air Relief Valve on the EA81T manifold, that releases air if the wastegate fails to release enough boost. This needs to be eliminated, but a well built boost controller needs to be installed. 5. I think a 2 row rad will work fine, and dual fans will fit. 6. There is a stock oil cooler on the EA81T already. 7. I'm not sure how you would run the plumbing for a front mount IC. Its pretty straight forward no the top mount. 8. Use the biggest Accel coil there is, not the one everybody has been using lately (POS IMO). I'm not at all sure how this will all mate up and run with the setup you are thinking of, but if you are determined I say "Damn the Torpedoes, Full Steam Ahead!" -
WooHoo! Major Grats Jaime I had no idea you had another on the way, and now you have one of each Good luck, and God bless you all.

rear spring up grade 4 cheap!
Turbone replied to rallyruss's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What I meant by PNP was plug and play, sorry. Also, the other question I asked was if you guys had the adjustable rears coil overs or not. But after reading some more, and the updated info, I'm guessing you do and are replacing the spring (hence the spring compressor). -
I suggest since no one really has a capable offroad Soob, that you just meet n' greet. Find a place where you can take pics and hang out for a little bit.

rear spring up grade 4 cheap!
Turbone replied to rallyruss's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ok, I'm assuming that your wagons do not have the adjustable rear coil overs. But the extra lift you are getting is more than you would get with the adj type jacked all the way. And these are PNP? No mods necessary? Do they say Honda on them?, haha with grinder in hand -
Thanks to all that helped . . .

Dont be a stranger Al. You ever need something, just give me a holler. And thanks for all the insights -
to XT turbo or not to XT turbo
Turbone replied to MightGetaXT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I 2nd what Caleb said. XT Turbo 4wd with low mileage(yes, thats low) for $500 is a great price. Go for it -
I think he's talking about the cross drilled rotors Andy. Not a bad idea of redrilling the hubs tho.

12 inch lift pics, daylight pics of the new paintjob *Updated pics*
Turbone replied to subarubrat's topic in Off Road
Thats just not natural, I guess thats why I like it! And the pics came thru for me on dial-up also. -
Check the rotor like Caleb suggested. If it spins, you know you lost the screw. J/K, teasing you too with the "Bob"

Dut, you need to read the previous posts

I think its the roof rack:brow: -
Going southbound on I-5 today in traffic. Its a EA82 wagon, red with pugs on it. Doesnt sound unsual except , the choice of color for the trim, etc. The pugs were painted a bright yellow, the wing on the back and front grill yellow, the roof rack was yellow, and I'm sure there was a few other items too. I just couldnt catch it all cause I was over 2 lanes and passing. It actually didnt look bad at all with this color scheme, and it certainly stood out. Does anyone know it/owner?
-
Hi "Bob". After you replace the belts and if it still wont start, I would take a look at the disty. Could be the Ign Mod is bad.
-
For the price and shipping, it can be made by anyone here (with basic mech skills). Subaru Tex made one, and I think he has the plans for it on his web site. After reading the feedback on the Ebay Seller, I dont think I'd be willing to do business with him. To many negs.

Damn, thats got to hurt. I agree on the top removal, what can you loose? Straighten/stiffen the A pillars, clean it up and make a soft top for it.
-
I may just have to go to pull all your butts out of the mud:lol: Altho I have no idea whats going to be going on in April for me yet (possible back surgery)

The pattern you are looking for is 4x140. Sorry, Nissan wont fit.
-
Most likely. Did the same thing on my 86 Turbo wagon.

Mine are on the highest setting.

Road Trip II: TrashWagon's RETURN

The Fox looks like he's in disguise. And whats that look for? -
I do have more. 1/8in isnt much, and he can probably get more by taking some of the stuff out of the back:D

Just make sure the hoses you use dont have holes and they make a tight connection.
