  1. Check to make sure there isnt any cables or whatever rubbing on one of the axles. Sometimes theres stuff on the road that can be picked up and wrapped around an axle also. Rob
  2. Were the wires the type that are pre-made, or did you have to make the ends up? I would check all the SP connections, they have a habit of not going on all the way when they are new. Same with the disty cap. Oh, and make sure the cap is ok too. Rob
  3. JC Whitney has digi gauges. Never bought any, just seen them in the catalog. Rob
  4. Well, now everyone will want thier own forums. Offroad Forum, Street Forum, Turbo Forum (EA81T/EA82T seperate Forums?), NA Forum, Hack Forum, Beginners Forum, Advanced Forum, Add Infinutem. See what I mean? I think we can keep it all in the Old Gen forum so we dont have to keep jumping around. In other words, Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) Rob
  5. NV, its the slug on the end that broke. Moosens, if you need one, I got it. Rob
  6. From Skips post, he didnt say if the car died. I'm going for a shredded Alt belt that took the wire off the oil sender. Rob
  7. THats a bugger to get to. Its almost located directly above the fuse panel, and attached to a bracket off the upper firewall. And you know what that means:D And yes, its a round silver unit. Rob
  8. I dont think its a gas problem. The tranny could have overheated (did the AT temp light come on before running out of gas?)thus not letting the car start? By the time you came back with gas it had cooled off. But definately get the tranyy looked at by the dealer. Rob
  9. I dont think either one of them would carry it.I think JC Whitney is your best shot. Rob
  10. If you dont want to mess up the finish on the hood, use a flat piece of metal stock about 1/8th thick. The latch is on the right side (you prob knew that) and push towards the right (you prob knew that too). Rob
  11. The diff already has stubs on it cause its a rear diff your using for the front. Rob
  12. Nice article, but unfortunatly the pic they show is diffenately not a Brat:mad: Rob
  13. Congtrats on finding the problem. Your troubleshooting skills have increased greatly, nice to have FSM's. Is it running yet? Rob
  14. Yea, I kinda miss those days:D Btw, my first car was a 68 Firebird, black with white interior and slotted mags. The car was only 8yrs old when I got it. Alot of you werent even around yet:eek: I have my 12yr boy help me sometimes, mostly manning the jack. But he asks lots of questions, and its fun. Just wish his attention span was longer. Rob
  15. Same here as a kid. I was my Dads gopher and mule - go get the saw and that pile of 2x6:-p He knew nothing about mechanics, but he could sure build with wood. Learned alot on my own working on bikes, helping friends with thier cars, till I got my own car. Rob
  16. Its under the passenger seat. Theres 2 of them, one for the ignition and the other is FP relay. Disconnect one to find out which is which. No luck with the connection at the pump? Rob
  17. Good to hear about the fuel filter. Normally these cost around $20 cause they are high pressure. How long have you used yours WJM? You will let us know if it blows, right? Rob
  18. All of mine have pulled right out. And yes, they have diff oil in them, not ATF. Meeky, sounds like a seal went out between the diff and tranny. Rob
  19. Ok Brian, here you go. You will have to give up the 84 Turbo coupe:rolleyes: Dont leave me hangin Bud. Rob
  20. A diff that cores a Gov that bad will core another one. Cant tell you how long it will last, after my 2nd one they only lasted about 60mi. And its really hard to tell how bad the shaft is inside unless you pull the diff apart. Altho splitting the diff off the tranny isnt that hard, its just a pain pulling the tranny period (this I do know). Rob
  21. Doh! Calebs right. All AT's are 23 spline. Darn, I even messed up on the ratio:rolleyes: I better stick to EA81's. Rob
  22. The stubs are 25 spline. You might be better off replacing the whole tranny. The 5spd conversion is doable but very labor intensive No one I know has a manual. The ratio is 3.9 Rob
  23. Billy, would one of theose "leftover manuals" be a 84 electrical manual? The one I paid you for around 4/03? Sure like to get it before it goes to someone else. If you need my mail addy again, just ask. Rob
  24. Well, it could be a number of things. Most are related to faulty parts/assembly. One possibility is a bad head gasket. I think I would check into that and rule it out before damning the rest of it. If you take the heads off, check for broken springs, etc. Rob
