  1. Ditto on the sensor. You need to find the green connector under the dash, left side, one wire. Once this is connected, you will be able to read the codes. Rob
  2. The problem is almost similiar to mine(86 GL-10 TUrbo). I just put a new thermostat in cause of a wierd heating issue. The temp would go up to the red for a couple of minutes, then drop down to normal. I also changed out the temp sending unit. Its still doing it, along with a loss of coolant(you can smell it after driving). I have replaced most of the hoses on top with silicone, but havent changed the return for the turbo. Theres no change in the way it runs, and doesnt act at all like its overheating:cornfuzz: I guess I'm going to have to crawl underneath and have a look at the water return hose:-\ Rob
  3. All info is from the 86 FSM. The 4wd stats are for the RX Turbo. Front 2wd - Expansion,176lb/Comp,110lb 4wd - Expansion,309lb/Comp,265lb Rear 2wd - Expansion,176/Comp,110lb 4wd - Expansion,309lb/Comp,221lb Rob
  4. Front - GL-10 Sedan 2wd is 134lb per in. 4wd is 157lb per in. Rear - GL-10 Sedan 2wd is 159.6lb per in. 4wd is 159.6lb per in. Rob
  5. And why leave the a/c stuff on? You can pull the EGR off and put a plate on it . Looks nice tho, are you able to close the hood with that aircleaner on? Rob Side note, just remembered this is a Cali car:-\
  6. Hey Tex, have you thought of drilling and tapping the housing? There is an extension there with a flat spot just for the plumbing (I just looked at mine). Want to help me do the install of mine when I get the 88? Rob
  7. The headlight switch sounds like the same as the ones on our 1985 and newer Soobs. By pushing in and turning it, with the key off, you have parking lights. As far as I know, there have never been any factory rear fog lights installed on US Soobs. It sounds like the wire to the fog lights might be making ground somewhere and blowing the fuse when turned on. The fog light might be part of the parking light circuit, or else making contact when it shouldnt. The plugs in the engine bay are probably for testing a certain circuit. I dont know what circuits tho offhand. Hope this helps. I've seen pics of your hatch, did you get the rear lights finished? Rob
  8. As I stated in my first post:banghead: Go to NAPA. They sell it by the foot, in different diameters. And its not the blue crap, its orange/brown in color. I know its not perty, but it works. Rob
  9. If you have never done this, your in for a PITA. Call Napa and get a price on silicone hose. If its going to be done do all the turbo water lines. You may have to (most likeyl) lift the intake to replace them, so that means you will also need the gaskets for that. Do hope you have a manual? Rob
  10. You do know that when you put oversize tires on, that it changes the speedo reading? Rob
  11. Another point I just thought about, and which happened to me also, seeing how they replaced the head gaskets, some electrical connections might have been moved/disconnected. Check all the major elec connectors in the engine bay. Rob
  12. It could be the electronic module in the distributor. It happened with my 84 turbo wagon, and a few other cars that I know of. Someone in the marketplace might have a spare, or you can look in a local PAP. I think theres a couple in Oly. Rob
  13. From Caleb on the 16th - The reason people are down on you is because you didnt follow directions. You asked for help and the ones that have gone thru the emissions BS told you what was needed. The ones that passed without touching the engines were very lucky. Personally, I think you should sell the car, the EA81T is to complicated . Rob
  14. Put a new thermostat in it. That will help. All Soobs mark their territory, just some mark it more than others. It could need a reseal on the oil pump and cam seals. Rob
  15. I believe these wheels only came on 84 Turbo's and GL-10 models. Rob
  16. The fuse for the fan is not even close to it. Its an in-line white plastic covered fuse to the left of the steering column under the dash. Rob
  17. Definately check your grounds, especially the one from the battery to engine. Rob
  18. The stuff that TomR was talking about is what I have. Works pretty well on the smaller stuff. Have you considered another tank? Rob
  19. Glad you were able to get the car going again. The EA81T can be pretty finiky to say the least. The flasher unit is in that general area, if you turn the flashers on it will help you locate it. I'm thinking its above the fuse box. Rob
  20. I have some stuff in my shed, made just for sealing gas tanks. I'll see if I can find it tomorrow. Rob
  21. Ok, I did some searching and found this link to an article from April of 2002. Granted, its 1 1/2yrs old, but the info answers alot of questions (and myths). http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_1338/article.html Rob
  22. I would love to back to Japan and see if they have wrecking yards there like we do. Travel all over the Island picking up stuff along the way, then shipping it back to the PNW. I could probably retire off the proceeds:D Hey Honey, I'm going to the JR, be back in a month. Rob
  23. I have some bad news guys........It get worse the older you get:slobber: I've been tempted to start a journal on the cars I work so I can remember whats done and where. Rob
  24. Both 82 GLF's I owned had it. Dont know for sure when they started adding it tho. rob
