  1. While you're in there it would be a shame not to do it. It is very easy while you're in there.
  2. I should dig out a few sets of wheels I have. I have a chrome set and another alloy set that are somewhat rare.
  3. I have been to Becker Subaru. They seem like honst people. I have owned my car since 117,000. Things I have replaced (other than brake components and tires) transission failed around 180,000 water pump and oil pump (preventative maint.) front axles ball joints timing belts Maintenance is fairly simple and inexpensive on these cars.
  4. I was told by a long time Soob mechanic that a properly maintained turbo car will last just as long as a non-turbo.
  5. over 300,000 on this beast! Sorry it doesn't count on this forum.
  6. 240,000 on the '91 Legacy. Motor has never been apart but the tranny has been replaced.
  7. Other skip is probably right. My quick fix after I find the offending rattle is to throw a hose clamp around it and snug it down.
  8. This is all crap. I strongly suggest replacing the entire axel. They are relatively inexpensive these days. Much less grief to swap out the whole thing than to take apart and rebuild yours. Yours LOOKS good but is probably shot. If you spend the time and repack the joint and install new boot you will be fine for now. But more than likely 6 months from now you will hear some clicking.
  9. I think we are in the same boat then. I remember getting 31mpg on the highway when I first bought it. I am right around 20 now also.
  10. I really don't think it matters. What kind of oil are you using matters more.
  11. If it always runs at red or very close than I think it has always been screwed up. You need to look at your cooling system very carefully. It may be worth the time to take things apart and look at them i.e., thermostat. I think the problem is the water pump. I took one off a car one time that was shot. It did not leak but the guy complained that the car ran fine at speed and stayed cool. But as soon as he stopped it started to overheat. I took off the pump to find the fins totally eroded. They were just flat.
  12. My car has a few miles on it but runs really good. Makes plenty of power and I don't burn or leak any oil to speak of. My gas mileage has dropped dramatically since I've owned the car. (I bought it with 117,000) What kind of fuel economy do you guys with high mileage Legacy's (over 200,00) get?
  13. I know it definately had the power windows......I could have sworn it had the locks also........alot of illegal substances smoked in that car, no wonder I can't remember clearly.
  14. I used to live in Schnecksville then moved to East Stroudsburg. I think Weddes is in Bath.
  15. I was going to buy both but they need to be ordered. Guess I'll take it off and look for names. I plan on doing the cap, rotor, plugs and wires. I also bought an oil pump reseal kit. The front of that motor is kind of messy.
  16. My dad has an '86 Brat that badly needs a tune up. How do I tell the difference visually between the Nippondenso and Hitachi caps? Do I just have to take it off and look for names?
  17. Stupidru, Do you deal with Wedde's Auto at all? I used to live in your general area and he replaced a few things on my Legacy. Awesome people to deal with. He has a restored 360 and a real nice Brat. 90% of his deals are Soobs. They are mostly a repair shop and they seem to know their S&*t. What does the dash look like in your wagon? I had an '84 4wd wagon with all the bells and whistles. Factory sunroof power locks and windows, and DIGITAL DASH! I'll have to dig out a pic to post here when I had her all "pimped" out
  18. I thought I was pathetic when I took regular pictures of my odometer!!!!!!!!! Keep driving, Setright.....you may be able to catch up.
  19. Try this..... http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
