Well, Ive fully pimped out my cooling system including a headgasket job to find out that I have cracked heads... pretty nasty cracks inbetween the intake and exhaust valves... So, what should I do? I hear brand new loaded heads are about 250$? per side... Should I cough up the 500$ plus whatever it costs to get the delta cams or just run this motor until it dies? I guess the question is.. would it be worth it to get some virgin heads with some new cams?

TurboSPFI replied to iluvdrt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've faught people on NASIOC in parking lots before because of they way they/I are/am. I've also confronted people that I could recognise off the board just to see if they wanted to start static... Most of them chumps are "big men" behind their computer screens, mommies, and daddies. -
Please try to keep this on the welded diff subject

So I'm getting the answers I could have expected as far as sliding around.. Simple fix, pull a CV.. How about the deep snow? Good or Bad?

Lemme get back to you on this..

A locked rear end is useless in the snow? How?

after really giving mine a workout... I think the motor is about the only tough thing. Everything else is extremely brittle.

Well, first off I want to say that I did do a search for once! Came up with plenty of info on welding up the rear end of a soob and how it drives and removing a rear CV etc etc etc but I havent been able to find out what peoples opinions of running a welded diff in the winter are. I'm figuring people would remove the CV on an icy day to have more of an open diff effect, but how is it say... if 12" of snow hit overnight and you wanted to throw in the CV? Just curious as to what people think on this matter.

maybe i worded something incorrectly, ill try again.. what does retarding/advancing do to my low end/top end? advance = more low end less top end? retard = less low end more top end? left = retard? right = advance?

FLORIDA! AWWWW -
Just wondering if anyone has like a spark map? needed to advance retard timing from the disty... when i had my timing tweaked, it feels like i have more low end power, but it also seems like i have gained it from the top end... the top end isnt has peppy as before and the low end is peppier... anyway i can meet it somewhere in the middle? it literally feels like im driving a diesel right now with all my power in the 1-3k rpm range..

drilled out rims question
TurboSPFI replied to dragonwingsubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i used a half inch drill bit (the studs will slide through bearly) to drill out the rims. On the two holes that originally lined up, i put the lugnuts back on how they are supposed to be, this centers the wheel. On the two new holes, i took the lugnuts and turned them around backwards and put them on.. this helps keep the wheel on.. and its more of a flat on flat surface rather than a flat on cone surface. havent had a problem at all this way -
If your car is lifted, its wise to jack the front of the tranny up a few inches... makes life easy when it comes to getting that engine out at that newly aquired angle.

I've had mine for almost a year now.. works just fine.. I carry the original coil in the car now as a spare because of all the failures ive heard of.. but just like archemtis said.. Everything breaks.. dont get too worked up over it.

Did first headgasket job!!
TurboSPFI replied to TurboSPFI's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
True, and you know how I have to have everything done in a day for my jobs! What really freeked me out was when I snapped an intake bolt off in the head.... but yeah, got that figured out.. had a couple of intake bolts that were warped... basically once you get the intake off its gravy past that point. I pulled the disty out to get everything in there all cleaned up.. hahaahaha, maybe one day. wait, subaru certification? where do i get one of these or are you pullin my leg? -
excellent, ill check this stuff out as well. thanks!

is there a website for this stuff? how much is it per tube?
