  1. It's unfortunate that so many people are willing to accept the fact that a company should not be expected to stand behind a 12 year old vehicle. I repeat, I've never had parts or service problems with a 1931 Ford Model A sedan or a 1966 Buick Special - and this is within the past 5 years. At 66 years old, I'm tired of doing my own repairs and it disgusts me that, no matter if you're willing to pay to have someone else work on it, the general consensus is that it's too old! Forgive me for thinking that we're going backwards - but it sure looks that way.
  2. My only problem with the older Subarus is that Subaru won't stand behind them. Other than that, they're great vehicles!
  3. I currently have the same problem with my '93 LSI Subaru wagon with automatic transmission. When I experienced the problem with my '87 (?) wagon, Subaru used an additive that cured the problem. Perhaps the '87 drivetrain was different (---it was manual) - but I can't help but wonder if there is an additive out there that might help? Until then, I avoid hard turns and acceleration at slow speeds - such as you encounter in a parking lot situation - and especially when backing up. It seems that, at slow enough speeds, and using shallower turns, the viscous coupling works OK. Like I mentioned in a previous post, Subaru also recently washed their hands of my current problem and suggested that I contact an independent mechanic. For the record, my 3-cyl Subaru Justy, with manual transmission, was the most trouble-free Subaru I've ever owned - and I bought all of the cars new.
  4. I'm a new forum member with a 1993 Subaru LSI Legacy wagon with only 73,000 miles on the odometer. We purchased the wagon new and it is basically in excellent condition. We recently lost, or misplaced, one of our electronic security system key fobs. When I contacted Subaru they informed me that they no longer provide accessory parts for a 1993 Subaru and that they could not help me to find a replacement. We have one working key fob - and the security system is, like the rest of the car, in excellent working condition. Can anyone help me locate a replacement transmitter? I know that the system could be disabled if we had to do so - but why would I want to??? Incidentally, this is not the first time Subaru has told me, in no uncertain terms, that they no longer support a 1993 vehicle - nor do they expect any of their dealers to do so! I've had much better luck getting parts for my '31 Model A Ford, or 1966 Buick Special. Hopefully, with the help of this forum I'll be able to continue enjoying my Subaru for many years to come - in spite of the lack of interest shown by Subaru of America.
