' mm RA was only in the GC body styles of the later genertaion of Subarus using the Impreza line-up. The RX and XT6 were the powerhouses of Subaru back in the day though

eddygordouk replied to eddygordouk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
TOTALLY know what you mean. I havnt got it all in yet so I guess ill jus take a bunch of pics when I hopefully finalize everything this evening after work. Be careful when cutting out the space in the new faceplate (got my stuff from Crutchfield also) as u have to cut all the way to the ends. I didnt have a dremel or anything of the sort, only razor cutter and THAT was interesting (kinda broke on side alittle ). Ill just show through the pics -
yay I got the Alpine CD player working and A-OK, now just have to get onto the speakers and stuff later on . Ill have to post pics tomorrow when its all finalized

Deleted my old post since I dont want to start too many new ones today by myself . I wanted to ask those who know or have sold an RX full body kit, how much do they usually go for? And if anyone has shipped, how much is shipping usually? Any info would help alot, thanks

Quick Stereo question
eddygordouk replied to eddygordouk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
mm im planning to runn a self powered sub that can fit under my seat. i dont want super bass, just enough to fill in cleanly and Ill most likely redo all 4 speakers with some decent infinity's. Question is, can I run music to all 4 stock speakers until I get the replacements or no? -

Quick Stereo question
eddygordouk replied to eddygordouk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hmm sounds like alot of good replies. Looks like ill be trying the way Dennis explained ans that would be a good setup I think, although SubaruJunkies idea sounds good also. Ill have to see whats up tonight if I have enough sunlight afterwork *note* what wires do people recommend to run to the battery and all? Price per place recommendations? Sorry, new to it all... -
Quick Stereo question
eddygordouk replied to eddygordouk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
sounds not too tough. I was mainly confused on the yellow wire so Ill try your suggestion when i get back home from work. The reason I was talking about the rear speakers is because I've heard that the wires run before are too weak or sumthing? Any one can fill me in on this? -
Hello all, had a quick stereo question. Car is an 87' GL-10 Sedan with the Trip Computer. I got my new Alpine CD player from Crutchfield audio so it came with all the bits and bobs to put it in. My question is, as I am wiring it, it came with an adapter harness for the Subaru. Should I link up the "ground" wire that comes from the Alpine to the "ground" on the matchin Subaru harness or just ground it myself? Also, I am alittle confused on the last part about splicing in the yello uninterrupted 12v wire? Where is the best place to do it? I read about direct connect to battery but I also read about the ignition so it will turn on when the car starts, like a stock radio head. Also I wont be able to use the rear speakers until I rewire them or is ther any other way? Any help/info/ideas would be greatly appreciated. *note* I ask this after searching around here for quite a bit of time and realized there was no info that went this far...

I really wanna start

which do u think looks better? Keep in mind I will have the black lip spoiler. I keep leaning towards the black but gold does look nice, i just think that the 13"s i have would be too small foor gold . still have yet to lower the suspension and get the RX kit but this is my hope of what Ill be rolling up to WCSS this August. Complements/Criticism welcome

yeah I am letting it rest while I go pick up an alternator so no worries about driving it. It was giving me lights at the dash but havnt checked to see if the christmas tree effect is all the way around. Ill update with more news as they come
-
I have checked most of the wires leading from the battery and have checked the grounds to the best of my knowledge. I dont have anything to test if there is a current so I'll see what I can do over at Kragen, there close to where I live so I can do it today I think

Was wondering if someone could help troubleshoot. Was driving the GL-10 yesterday and the stereo suddenly began to quit out and soon after the car. After that the thing was dead with no turn over until I jump started the car. It ran but then slowly died again. It had run fine the morning of but was out in the heat the whole day until I went to drive it home after work . SubaruJunkie and I both think that its perhapes the alternator as everything else was in fine spirits when the car ran. Any suggestions? Also what would be the best bang for buck Alt out there for a quick fix? :-\

either way this car is gonna scream Friend has a 98" RA motorr in his garace waiting to be put into his GC body. Maybe I can sweet talk him into selling it to me
