thanks for all the help, what companies usually are best? being in the sacramento/northern cali area does anyone have any experience over here shipping such large items? i want to ship and engine from so cal to up here and i am wonder who is the best for the price.

sooo im lost at how i would transport an engine if i got one. i would need to transport it from la basically to sacramento. by freight im guessing. i should have the crate from the other engine i could use. i am just lost at what company i should use? cheapest and best? im not sure to go about this.

im the same with you. plus i would be getting the na ej25 from a friend. also ej22 seems a bit low in the performance area, esp. when i can use my friends cold air intake and stromung setup. i was wondering if theres any way to strengthen the head gaskets for the ej25? wrx motors are just too pricey for me

nice, thats EXACTLY what implanning to do. 1989 RX wanting to swap in a 2001 2.5rs ej25 NA engine in. Im also looking at how to do the wiring and all. let me know if u find anything and ill do the same. good luck if u end up doing it. i suggest a cobb cold air intake the stromung exhaust system, thats what ill be doin later after smog and itll add a bit more push

well went to the PnP and found some white wirespoke 13" enkies. couldnt resist but i still need to find 3 more center caps haha . pretty nice though. still have to clean them up and put em on with better tires but hopefully i can post pics soon.

Well well I am lame it seems. Finally funds have come in and Christmas time it seems is when the swaps will be made for engines. FOr me its the ej25 i hope, welll if that fits an all without cutting the frame or anything. So im thinking of running the RX tranny for awhile. Will it be able to hold the power? And how are the ratios for such a different engine? Seems RX trannys are in demand but is that just cuz of the hi/lo ft4wd with diff lock? I need input bc after awhile im thinkin of perhapes moving on to shortening the driveshaft and runnin a newer tranny? Any helpful info would be great.

other than the brat, would any neewer cars need frame mods? i want to try to fit in a 01' 2.5 in my rx but i dont wanna do fram mods so as to pass ref inspection. can it be done? also if i interchange with aaany ej and wanted to also swap the tranny, what else needs work? i know driveshaft but wat about diff? axles? im lost with that part

hah yeah ive looked everywhere too for my 89 RX. i think i want to ggo custom setup after i do a 5 lug conversion but the question is, i want a decent setup and where would anyone make that? if they could? gr-2s cant really handle the higher spring rate for long periods. ive asked everyone haha *sorry for jackin the post this thread also*

so my dream of trying to put a better engine my RX is getting closer to truth. saving up more and now i need to decide what can be done. i really want to put my friends '01 ej25 engine and ive heard it can fit? i want to not cut anything really and also mount a new tranny, say the 2.5rs one also. im wondering if this is all feasible and what problems would there be? i know its been mostly done with a ej22 but i was wondering if anyone could shed some light? also i kinda need to learn about wiring so i was wondering if anyone could give me a basic rundown and i could research more in depth. thanks with any help

dont want to steal the thread but awhile ago i read about a person or someone knew a person who had complete suspension customo made. do you know if any decent companies do this? i.e. koni,kyb,tokico or the like? i kinda feeel like swapping to 5 lug and then working offa that and seeing if ill jus save save save (too broke right now) and get a whoole custom set up. inputs pleease.

eh, i feel if i tint the windows its like im lookin through sunglasses and for sume reason i cant drive usually with sunglasses on. its liike my mind knows im loosing a bit of my depth perception an all. plus its not gonna help if i go driving at night haha. yeah i was thinking about keeping the spoiler but still...if u pay attention to cars of that era theres quite a few that have similar spoilers, plus the "nerfness" jus aint cutting it . maybe im just in a "no spoiler" stage where i like cars without them i.e. toyota trueno and other 80's era cars when you take em off. i guess its just a love it hate it thing .

havnt been on here in awhile. sice moving back to Sacramento I havnt had internet so Ive had to entertain myself with other things, such as photoshop and a nice picture of a gl-10 with rx body kit haha. Basically i tooled around with it in adobe to turn it out to what an am invisioning my RX to look like when i am finished with it, exterior wise. tell me what you all think? looks rather close to a toyota levin, but has awd? oooo yeah haha. i cant wait. also, whiteline and addco? what are thee sizes in mm for the front and rear that would fit an RX? i was intrested in xt6 set forawhile but after feeling my friends cusco setup, i really desire the 20+ club. Im not the one with money but i would be willing to save if there a decent size. anywho, enjoy the picture

i was wonderin what to the extent in difficulty it is for an engine swap? I am very interested in swapping in a ej25 in to my RX and was wondering if the instument panel will fit or how i can make it fit? also if i take aaaaall the componets from the donar car what real wiring will i need to do? even if i take the ecu and everthing? and what is an "evap" setup? kinda ran into that word when thinkin about how i could deal with emissions an all. ive been told that i could be able to smog it afterwards without truoble if i take the complete emissions setup from the donar car as well, all he exhaust and everything, which is what I want to do. Any info would be helpful since it seems alot of people have done ej22 swaps into old cars. thanks

haha cool. its sorta a downward spiral proccess it seems. my friend is gettin an sti engine for his wrx. then my other friend of ours found out who has a 2001 last production old styl 2.5rs and wants the wrx engine thatll come out so he can have a sorta...old school wrx haha. so then i was thinkin hmmm y not take his ej25 since it would make my car haul . it already has a cobb cold air intake and fll stromung exhaust and is rated aroun 185 or sumthin around there. id do abit more so i can have about 200hp but id be laughin every minute i drive. i want it nooow now now.

i was wondering if such a conversion could work, and would it be efficient or anything? i could also use a bit of my friends stromung exhaust which greatly helps the engine. i was intrested cuz it would be an NA conversion for me and i greatly desire that for such a light car.

sooo my drivers side speaker was blown to mount doom and back whhen i got my RX so finally i decided to hit the pick n pull and find a oem speaker to replace it will. i checked out a few GLs and also the 1 scrapped RX they have and they seemed similar so i picked up a GLs since it had a very good clarion speaker in it. When i finally get home i realize that its smaller than my RX's stock! not fun haha (plus the fact that i was a newbie at poppin off interior and the top part came off which was a PAIN!! ) so what should I look for for a replacement speaker? the new one i have works fine but i can sorta tell it doesnt put out as much. i know quite about about car audio and systems an all, i just dont know the figures for my car haha. where can i find a similar speaker? thanks haha

i desire to have those old style rx seats in mine so much. i want the back 3 seat portion and then get some black racing seats up front and then try to convert my whole interior to black. ur rx looks nice. how hard is it to put the td04 and wrx ic in downpipe etc? i want to do the same

haha mathematical formulaaaas yess. i need a basic setup to really start on that, does anyone know the downforce that the stock oem wing provides? Also i saw a second gen supra driving down the street and was like hmmm that wing looks kinda nice also so who knows. i have my wing off right now and iiiim thinkin i might not put it back on. its a bit bondo'd up but i wonder if anyone wants it haha

do water to air ic's ggenerally have less reliablity since there is more that goes on with them? or can they be depended on as much as air to air?

screw it, here i come jdm 82t. i like old engine sounds anywayz haha. theres a guy where i live who has a pristine first gen mr2 supercharged which is way rare where im at i belive. his engine sounds crazy. i really want to drive with him and a guy who has a ae86 trueno conversion. itll be the battle of the 80's haha, we all are runnin low 100 hp

so i was thinkin it might be neat to see if the rx could sport a diff spoiler that would help downforce on the back being as it is a hatch and there isnt really any offered once u take the oem one off.im not lookinf foro the ricer look or anythin cuz i hate that and so jus was lookin around now and then and got an idea. I wonder how a spoiler from a pontiac fiero GT would look like? its decently small but would offer nice downforce and is quite nice lookin i think. wonder if it would fit? not look lame? i must see . shouldnt be too hard to find somewhere at a pick n pull for real cheap. might try and see what it turns out like. might be a tad too big im guessin though. pic 1 pic 2

So Brian, do you think it would be possible for such a senario could happen? as in: i could keep my original vin and if as in if i were to find such a person i could find a mechanic who could input such information when he smogs it even though it has an ej20 in it and then i go to get it registerd could i make it through? Or when it is going to be registerd they actaully physically look under the hood and look for the vin number an all and would know it is a swap? It will be a first time register in this state so im guessin there might be a difference in registration...

hmm since i live in California its alot more tricky then all others here haha. But i was wondering what is the extend an engine swap that can be done on a car? I have read that only the engine that came for that car can be swapped but other places i have read that only engines same age or newer then the car can be swapped. So you think i could pass with an ej20 USDM engine in? All id need is to get it smogged right? but then i still need to get it registered so im not sure if they inspect the engine in the car to see if its the correct one? im not sure... I was set on the ea82t but now my friend is tellin me he might change engines soon since his dad has access to closed autions of salvaged cars and would look out for an sti for him....
