HELP with axles PLEASE!! :)
Subarutex replied to audio_file's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I do believe I have the factory subaru tool for pulling the axle through... but maybe its just for the fronts? You could borrow it to give it a go if you'd like. I'll try and grab a picture of it tonight if you think that will help. -
Wow... Its really looking good! Fender mirrors... Originally off a Subaru?

Just a taste ..of my Coupes Restoration Work

Claybar "should" not ever cause paint damage. A claybar glides on a ultra thin plane of lubricant (quick detailer, etc...) and lifts the impurities in the paint surface out. By claying, you make the surface as smooth as it possibly could be in preparation for polish. -
Just out of curiousity... are you running a ecu out of an automatic? If I remember correctly, mine is. It would make sense that the automatic cars would use the VSS more than the manuals...

Ok... 1986 GL Wagon w/ EJ22 swap (originally carbed!) Just about any gear, under light to medium loads I get a stumble at about 2500rpm, sometimes as high as 3000rpm. Going WOT fixes the issue. Occurs in all sorts of temps, happens atleast 3-4 times a drive, thats even when I try to "drive around it" IE go WOT early in the rpm band. Now, I've been fixated on it being a fuel issue for awhile. Did a new fuel pump, filter, etc... still the same problem. Only issue left is that I'm running on a carb sized fuel system, and not a newer fuel injected one. Was/am planning to add a surge tank and second fuel pump to remedy this. Reading another thread, got me thinking about this VSS. Now, since my car was originally carbed, I don't know if I have this. Mainly because there was no ECU in my car. What/where is teh vss wire I should be looking for? I guess I need to know both the '86 one from the guage panel, and the EJ22 one from the ecu. Your thoughts? vss isssue? or is it a fuel issue?

Extremely interested... either the taper reamer or in a set of already reamed arms.
-
Where can a bloke like me get a reamer like that?

Sweet. I might have a line on some front struts/springs for an Impreza. I'll ask the guy and let you know. Those wheels look great.

Pics from the RX meet yesterday.
Subarutex replied to audio_file's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Yeah.. we had 4 REAL RX's show up, Sister7 and her RX-RA... and Russ On top of that we had audio_file in his white wagon, one eye in his SWEET touring wagon, Dan in his RX Wagon (perhaps even more "RX" that Russ's coupe), and my bro's XT Turbo. Sparky and Zap held down the new school in their respective wagons. I had a great time... Glad everyone made it out! Thanks alot to Zap for leading us from wongleflute's to GG. Got to drive some twisty roads, and made a stop at a cool park for some photos. -

NO antenna hole would be preferred, but if its there I'll just fill it in during the body work phase. It will probally end up with a roof or pillar mount antenna... if it gets one at all! -

Subarutex replied to discopotato03's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I have some backing plates in my garage. 99% sure they are xt6 ones i took off my last car. I'd be happy to sell them and ship them provided we can figure out a way to know for sure they are xt6 ones. -

Rebuild or replace? EA81 Steering Rack
Subarutex replied to Subarutex's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Will a '80 or '81 rack work? How about a rack from an EA82? I'm just trying to figure out my options. -
Needs Volk's. Maybe some TE-37's, or some GTP's. 16" or 17"... 18" will be too tall. Or, i Know somebody with some RS 6 spokes that would look pretty hot IMHO. Although, they are my favorite stock wheels of ALL time. Unless there was a car that came with concave face TE-37's stock... in white. Also, check out legacygt.com for some used 05+ Legacy GT coilovers. These ballers practically giving ************ away ($500 for teins, $400 for lightly used Megan's) Then you can get the ride height... and some dampening! Hope to see you still come out to the RX meet so I can meet ya. Also, congrats!
