  1. This thread makes me sad, for months i've thought I had spent $100 on a really nice used carb that made my Brat run awesome. Apparently all that increased power I felt from accelerating off the line, to burying the speedo on the freeway, I was just imagining it all. Thanks guys. The way I see it, HP is a function of torque. Torque is made in the combustion chamber, by a fuel and air mixture igniting and forcing the piston down. By introducing more fuel and more air into the combustion chamber, you get more torque. Oh... also all my imaginary increase in torque, throughout the rpm range, was gained at stock timing. I could only *imagine* the increase in power when I go to 12-13 degrees like a lot of people run, or so I've heard from other people delusioned by the fact they are making more power.
  2. Hmmm... either this BBQ or the SRP one down south. I have to go to Ken's late that afternoon, so if he comes up to yours, I'll be there. Oh wait... we may be going to look at houses Sat. I'll let you know.
  3. Turbone... I have a MPFI block (caleb says 9:1 compression) $100 OBO Also Caboob, if you need some coppers to go with your o-ringing I have some you can have... $50 for teh set, i'll even throw in the neat copper sticky spray can.
  4. This thread is soooooo done.
  5. Rooinator did it in his wagon... Maybe PM him for info? He is off fighting the good fight though, so who knows if he'll respond. Also, I fail to see how this is really useful.
  6. I don't think I'll pick up another car for quite sometime. Between the wagon and the brat I have enough troubles to go around. Also big things happening like buying a house, and getting married... I think 90% of my problems were revolving around the TPS. Whether it was bad or what... It seemed to run best with the spider, with no TPS connected. Ya... I've seen him around here before...
  7. This thread is a thread of Victory. Its done. It drives. Its gone. Spider intake was/is the devil, and is a waste of time. I'll stand by that to the day I die. Zap, I'm sorry I put so much time and money into the car... I should of listened to you and bought an Impreza back when I blew the first motor. What can I say... I was young, dumb, and full of... (i'll let Jay finish that line) What the car left with: '86 Turbo engine complete, with 87+ stock manifold, wiring, ecu, etc... USDM Legacy VF11 WRX Intercooler, BOV, downpipe, midpipe Samco Y-pipe Custom fuel system XT6 flywheel and clutch Five Lug conversion on coilovers 15" Steel wheels Impreza front brakes with stainless lines Supra rear breaks with rear e-brake Apexi SAFC, Turbo Timer Autometer Ultralite boost gauge And my personal favorite... the '04 STi Hood Scoop. So, inconclusion, I sold it. The new owner drove it away very happy. I was pretty happy, and a little sad... I went through a lot with this car, it was nice to see it finally run the way it was meant to run all along, but after putting so much tears and sweat into it, I knew I couldn't ever be happy keeping it. So, I'm down to 2 scoobs now. The wagon, and the brat, and as usual, the wagon doesn't run. Goodbye RX. Live long!
  8. Why does this thread keep popping up? While some of these idea's are good ones, most are cost prohibitive. You can't expect a company that sells parts for a living to pony up the cash, time, etc... to deliver custom parts to a small and dwindling market such as ours. Set down the pipe, and think about this reasonably. Bow Wow can get you: Delta cams Gasket sets Oil filters Oil pumps Water pumps Webers Weber Jets Weber Aircleaners Weber Accessories Temp. Senders Pressure Senders Axles Bearings Clutch's I could keep going on and on. They know their way around, and can almost always deliver a japanese part (oem, or close to) for cheaper than OEM prices. If they don't have it in stock, it will be usually be in the next day. They'll ship for more than fair prices. Mention Tex, or the USMB. Please let this thread fall to the ground.
  9. I've had that happen multiple times. Thats why these motors are crap. Most likely it was detonation that caused that. This was my first encounter with a blow out like yours: My last one though, it was even worse. I'll try and remember to find the gasket and take a pic...

  14. Where did you shift at? and how many gears did you grab? My buddy used to up his rev. limit on his 2.5rs-T (was running a tec3 engine management) so that he wouldn't have to shift the last bit on the track. He said it was good for half a second off his time when he got used to it (he shifted higher in all the othe gears too) I'd love to see what his car would run now (2.5rs usdm wrx swap, stage 4+)
  15. Ryan... I have a compression tester from Schucks. Its a nice little unit, I spent about $30 on it, which at the time was WAY too much. However, over the last year or so, i've needed it quite a bit. Let me know if you want to borrow it.
  16. We had a much larger tankard for WCSS6. #3 and #4 are both moderate sized mugs.
  17. Ok, after weeks and weeks of hard work, Noah and I have come up with this handy dandy poll. Let us know what kind of glass/mug you'd like to see. We are planning on etch'd glassware, and it will be $15 or less. It may or may not be personalized, we're working on that. Item one: 17oz. Ale Glass Item 2: 23oz Pilsner Glass Item 3: 15oz Tankard Item 4: 15oz Colonial Tankard Vote away! Pole will be open for 7 days, or when we see fit to close it. There is no guarantee what the end product will be at this point.
  18. NO SKID PLATE???!!??? This is you: Hope your AAA is current! :-p:lol:
