XT6 spindles, legacy struts, wrong bolts?!
Subarutex replied to baccaruda's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Impreza/legacy/forester struts are easy to use with the xt6 spindle... you need to do the following: Grind about an 1/8" off the thickness of the spindle part where the strut bolts to. Get 2 beefy bolts, exactly the size of the hole in the spindle. Bolt it on, use lock washers! You'll be good to go. -

XT6 spindles, legacy struts, wrong bolts?!

Wow.... I'm goood. -
The only thing i've seen AA do with their lift kits is throw a bongo drum through the hatch window, and blow a front strut. I've rocked a BYB since Jan. 2002...

That all looks pretty familiar...

What time Ed? I'll run up and say HI. -
Replaced the alternator this morning. Problem is gone! Thank goodness this was an easy fix.
-
Thanks for the link Tom. I just checked with my voltmeter... I have 12volts at the battery, and 12 volts at the back of the Alt. Guage still showed 10 or so.
-
I guess i'll try replacing the alt. then with a spare... thanks!

Yesterday I encountered a odd problem in my brat. Upon starting, the volt gauge reads at about 10... the upper limit of the lower red portion of the gauge. Of course, i turned all lights and acc. off, but the gauge didn't change. About 5 minutes into my drive, it jumps up and is at the normal 14 volts or so. It also did this exact same thing on my return trip home, and on my way into work this morning. Belt seems intact and tightened. The temp never rose, so the water pump was still turning. Is it a sign of my alternator going out?

WTF? I knew Spokane was rump roast-backwards... but not having CD's? Jeez, maybe you should be researching how to make your horse and buggy faster, not worrying about your subaru baja racer. You guys don't even have cars yet! -
Ok guys... here are the #'s HC passed fine Cruise and Idle. CO failed... with Cruise limit 1.2 - I ran a 2.66 Idle Limit 1.2 - I ran a 5.82 What needs to be done?

Gan 2 brat - Surging/bucking problem
Subarutex replied to Subarutex's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well, I put a fuel filter in before the fuel pump this morning. And I added about a 1/4 of a bottle of gas drier to the 3 or so gallons of gas that were in there. No problems afterwards on my way to work, or on my way home. Nor on the trip to my parents house, then to dinner, then back. So... hopefully just bad gas, and after talking with some other local people, the likelyhood of this station having bad gas occasionally is pretty good. Really only happens with their premium though, which is what my roomates put in it when they borrowed it a while back, and since then it has had this problem. Sadly, I have nearly 3/4 of a tank of premium gas, from the same station, sitting in the RX. Could water in the gas cause massive detonation to blow 3 of 4 cylinders, and take the rings in 2 of those with them? -
Problem usually occurs while under load (going up hill) or accelerating up to speed (45-60mph). Problem is... giving anything more than light throttle (like... an 1/8th) brat will start bucking, seems like its running out of gas or something like that. The problem is intermittent though. There are times where you can go full throttle, or anything in between and it runs just fine. Problem has occurred on the old Hitachi, and now on the weber. I also changed manifolds, to one that was de-emissioned. Fuel pump is new, replaced by previous owner, is hardwired to fuse panel, and the relay thing was broken (i guess..) New fuel filter in engine compartment. NO fuel filter before pump... i bought one to put in though. My theories so far: Stuff in gas tank, clogging pump intermittently. Water in gas tank (i bought some fuel dryer to throw in, but haven't done it yet) Catalytic converter is borked, cause weird issues? Any thoughts?

Yeah... they could go out and buy it... or maybe subsribe and help a totally awesome magazine.

Yup, designed and built the box myself... with the help and tools of my Grandpa. Sub is a Pioneer 10" DVC 1500w capable. The amp, mounted in the box, under the window, is a Pioneer 1000w X 1 mono amp.
